I wish I could give 0 stars. The girls that work here are so rude. I came in at 8:30 PM when they closed at 9. Yeah, I get it you wanna leave but the girl was walking up to the door trying to race me to lock it so I couldn't come in then threw her hands up and turned around to let me in a serve me. The girl at the counter had an attitude and literally rolled her eyes when I was ordering then I tried paying in cash and she said "were card only right now we already counted the register because were supposed to be closing soon" in a rude tone. I get in my car to eat my bowl (not even 30 seconds after the girl hands it to me) and the strawberries were rotten and tasted sour and the acai at the bottom of the bow was all foamy like it's been out for days and the bowl was barely even cold. I am so disappointed that I keep wasting my money here. I want my damn $14 back. Please re-evaluate your workers. Seriously. read more

Be careful!! I ate plastic here. I was really excited to try this place. The line was really long but I happily waited. Ended up taking a suggestion from the guy in front of me who ordered the Booster smoothie. Not only did my smoothie not come out right after his (why didn't they make them together to save time?) but when they finally did make it 20 minutes later I realized they forgot several of the advertised ingredients, such as flaxseed oil. She added it in and then I took my first sip and immediately tasted chunks in my mouth. I spit them onto my hand and they were bright green shards. I showed the girl at the register and she told me it was "kale." I was so confused. I walked outside and confirmed with several other regular customers that what I had in my cup was not edible and that I was not crazy. I went back in and it turned out that the PIECES were from the SPATULA or spoon that got ground up with the blender. Gross! They asked if they could make me another but I already felt sick. A refund would have been in order. Too many young untrained kids working here. Such a shame. read more

While the atmosphere is very noisy, messy, and chaotic, I still think it's worth the wait and the trouble. The prices hover around $9-$10 per bowl. They also feature exotic fruit and veggie smoothies and juices which are also delicious. I usually order my bowl online since I can't usually wait around in a store due to my job since I am using the only one there. Today, I received a poorly made nutelloco bowl where everything is melted. I paid for extra additional fruit , but it doesn't seem that they added anything extra to it. I didn't even know that there was a playa bowls at Pier village in Long Branch. But when I saw some people eating the bowls outside I was like no way did a store just open up here! As soon as I walk inside a wall of bananas greet you. It is so colorful and the staff is super friendly. There's a gigantic menu that has acai bowls, pitaya bowls, and kale bowls. They also make smoothies and serve coffee. I got the power acai Bowl with extra protein and I believe it came to $11 which isn't bad considering the bowls are humongous. Again, I must say this are extremely colorful and I'm so in love with this place. The whole Ambiance an atmosphere of the store is very well-thought-out and I can't wait to return to try a kale bowl next. Also there is a big board that explains what acai, pitaya, and kale does for the body. At the end of check out they also have Loyalty cards...so for every 12 purchases you make you get a free Bowl or smoothie. I'm a local and have been coming to this playa bowls location since it opened earlier this year. I love it here- the bowls are always made to perfection. Unfortunately I had a very bad experience with the young girl working the register this morning. There is absolutely nothing worse than coming to your favorite breakfast stop post workout to be greeted or should I say not greeted by a moody teen. No welcome, no eye contact, no excitement- nothing but pissed off and uninterested to be there. Most of the locations are run by a younger crew and this is def not my first time having a negative experience with the workers. These bowls are 10 dollars and could easily be made at home. I came to Yelp to see if others had a similar issue and indeed they did. I'd really like to see the younger owner of this company address this issue because I genuinely love coming here. read more

I was stoked to see a fruit bowl place on the east coast. On my recent vacation to Cali, there are juice and fruit bowl places everywhere. I was eager to try it out and support the trend surviving on this side of the country!! During my stay in Long Branch I had 2 bowls from here, and even though the line might be out the door it goes pretty fast! And it's worth the wait. I had the Acai Power Bowl and the Dragonberry the next day. Both were delicious but I am partial to Acai-berry-anything. Although it's just fruit, believe me when I tell you these bowls fill you up!! I like this place but I think they will need to address consistency with their preparation and need to figure out their raw material supplies. They are almost always out of something. Most upsetting is that the high school food preparers making the bowls never seem to get the recipes correct. The same bowl looks different ever time I go there. I went to Playa Bowls in the PV on a ROASTING hot Friday afternoon. The beach was totally packed and so was pretty much every establishment in the village that was selling something cold. I knew the place would be busy but a cool refreshing snack was all I could think about. My friend and I went to the shop which was crowded with a decently long line waiting to order. The ordering line went SUPER fast and the girl who rang us up was friendly and nice. Then we stood in another line waiting for our bowls to be ready. They call out order numbers so it's easy to tell when your bowl is done. We waited for less than 10 minutes and I was really impressed with the speed considering how many folks were in there. The line to order was out the door and down the sidewalk by the time we left so I was glad we came when we did. The girls behind the counter were efficient and accurate and did a great job with the crowd. Onto the bowls themselves. I ordered the Electric Mermaid pitaya bowl. What a gorgeous color! It was, in a word, sensational. The fruit, both in the bowl and the toppings, was just so fresh. You could taste how fresh it was! Naturally sweet, SO refreshing on such a hot day and just delicious. The granola on top was crunchy and not too sweet. I gobbled mine up. It's a lot of food, I was very satisfied after finishing it. People who are complaining about the price need to think about what they are getting. This isn't flavored slush sweetened with corn syrup. It's not a slurpee. It's real fresh fruit. Fresh fruit is costly. That's just the way it is. I treated this as my lunch, in which case $10 is totally reasonable. You get what you pay for and this was worth every penny! I can't wait to go back, probably to the Belmar location or RB when it opens. Parking at Pier Village is quite a struggle during the summer. Fabulous place. we had a coconut bowl which is a coconut meat, kind of soft and creamy base topped with bananas, strawberries, coconut shreds, granola and nutella drizzle. Thers are no words to desrcibe this. such a generous portion. also Had the acai power bowl, this one is frozen and has more of an ice cream consistancy, topped with bananas and peanut butter drizzle. Best Acai bowl place! There are several PB at most of the Jersey Shore but this has been the only one I have been to. The lines were definitely long but there were a lot of people working in the store which made the 10-15 minute wait go by fast. You can get a menu and look at what you want while you are waiting. There are Acai, pitaya bowls etc smoothies, coffee. The Acai bowl I got was $9 which was actually not bad considering how much quantity they give you. I've been to different playa bowls and enjoyed it, so I figured this one would be no different. I got a smoothie that had banana, peanut butter and cocoa protein powder in it. I had gotten this before at other locations and it was fine, but here they didn't mix it enough because the peanut butter was all chunked up at the bottom. It was very hot out that day, so I asked if I could have a cup of water. They gave me warm water. I went back and asked for ice and the girl told me, "just so you know, we don't usually give out tap water. We have bottled water up front." She said it to me in a very snobby way. If I pay $9 for a smoothie i can make at home, then i should certainly be allowed to have cold tap water for free. I won't pay another $3 just for a bottle of water. read more

honestly not impressed. i love playa bowls but this last experience really let me down. my bowl was slimy. they made no attempt to cut my fruit. i ordered online and my bowl was sitting in their freezer while they made me wait outside for 20 minutes. the workers easily could have brought my bowl back out to me or notified me when it was ready for pickup but the attempt was just not there. when walking in i was greeted with very poor attitude. i was truly upset when i spent 11.50 on a playa bowl that was poorly made and sitting in a freezer for 20 minutes ~not freshly made~. after this experience frutta bowls may have a leg up in the race for me. truly disappointed with this treatment. read more

They blast music really loud too and you can barely hear each other and the girls behind the counter can't hear you unless you yell your order at them.
