I wish I could give Playa Pharmacy 6 stars. They are the best of both worlds-- you can get all your medicines including complex compounds, but it has the feel of a small town, 1950s know your customers by name type service. The pharmacists have a wealth of knowledge and are happy to help and the staff are all so friendly, helpful and accommodating. After discovering them I have never gone back to one of the big chains unless it is after hours and can't wait. The staff at Playa Pharmacy have gone out of their way to help my family and me more times than I can count. I can't say enough nice things about them. read more

Fortunately I don't come here often, and I mean fortunately because I go only when I really NEED to. But I'm a frequent customer of the whole plaza. It's great to have a pharmacy here in the area! Joe the owner is a grest person! Very talented, helpful, and efficient, and he has a great staff! There's a lady named Jennifer who helped me a lot once I needed a shot. Playa Pharmacy, headed by Joe Chehade and his terrific and helpful staff is an Oasis in a desert of health care craziness. They have an amazing set up, reminders can be sent to you when your prescriptions are due for renewal, they can give you flu shots, shingles shots, pneumonia shots, in a safe and clean environment. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are often my salvation when I have an anxiety about anything. Open six days a week. Great call back system when you leave them a voicemail. Go on - look them up, tell them I sent you! If there was an Academy Award category for Pharmacies, they would surely be a winner. read more

Best Pharmacy Experience Ever! - thank you Playa Del Rey Pharmacy! My five year old daughter had a terrible ear ache after school. I took her to an urgent care in the Marina. Doctor finished up with her a 6:00 PM - walked right next door to Playa Del Rey Pharmacy at 4558Admiralty Way at 6:03 PM. They closed at 6:00. The surly cashier or whoever she was said "No Service For You, we close at 6" and SENT ME AND CRYING 5 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRL OUT THE DOOR because they close at 6 PM!!! I will NEVER EVER, EVER GO THERE AGAIN!! I quickly called around and found Playa Del Rey Pharmacy -they said they were open to 6:30 and said not to worry about it, they would stay open late if running a little past 6:30! Well the service was EXCELLENT!! The Staff was fantastic - in addition to quickly filling the prescription they all tried to comfort my crying 5 year old!! THANK YOU Playa Del Rey Pharmacy!!!! I will NEVER go anywhere else and have already sent e-mails out to my entire address book about the TERRIBLE experience at Marina Del Rey Pharmacy and the GREAT experience at Playa Del Rey Pharmacy! i transferred my prescription here when my former pharmacy closed & I have been so impressed. They do a good job. They have caught mistakes doctors have made. They regularly offer counseling regarding drug interactions, precautions, etc. They are so personable. I have never waited longer than 10 minutes to get a prescription filled (you won't get that at CVS!). Well, tonight I was really in a bad way. Actually, this whole week was bad - my husband got the flu last Friday, I got it on Monday, and my daughter ended up with pneumonia on Tuesday. Needless to say, we all felt terrible!! Well, daughter's fever hit 103.8 degF today, of course right after the doctor's office was closed, so we headed to urgent care. Turns out she has the flu too. We ended up leaving urgent care at 6:20 pm & I thought, how in the world am I going to find a pharmacy open that will fill a compounded prescription? In desperation, I called Playa Pharmacy to beg if they would please stay open & fill the prescription. They were so nice about it, and to be honest - I was near my wit's end. There aren't a lot of pharmacies that will do compounded prescriptions after hours. I couldn't believe they stayed open for me. I really, really, really appreciate them doing this - I really don't think a lot of places would. I highly recommend them. I can't say enough wonderful things about Playa Pharmacy. I recently relocated my mother and I had to move all of her perscriptions as well. Not an easy task! First I tried Rite Aid (near where she lives) but they only filled the perscription once and then said they don't accept her insurance. Then I tried CVS - minimum 40 minute wait in line (!) and then terrible customer service. Finally, I found Playa Pharmacy - yay! They checked all of her perscriptions and assured me that they could fill them. I can call it in and it's ready in no time. i had no idea what a "compounding" pharmacy was until my newborn son needed some custom meds concocted. there appears to be only about two of them within the south bay area. glad that Playa Pharmacy was close to my work! After years of dealing with the cold and rude personnel at a large chain pharmacy in the Marina, I opted to try this small neighborhood pharmacy. I was shocked at how much I saved on prescriptions, but as importantly at how professional and courteous Joe and his staff were. Big chain pharmacies are great for cleaning supplies and late night liquor purchases, but not for pharmaceutical needs. read more
