Great versions of your favorite Tex-Mex dishes! We had a party of 5, seated right away! Drinks took about 10 minutes to come out with chips and salsa. Ordered a large queso and tableside guacamole. The guacamole was fantastic, but the queso tasted like it had been ready for a while or reheated maybe. The salsa was great! Our meals ranges from carne asada to lobster enchiladas. All of our food was great, with the exception of the rice. It was just a little bland. Added some salsa to it and it was alright. I had lobster enchiladas, and did not regret my decision. They are not the most stuffed enchiladas, but have good flavor. Our waitress seemed busy and left us to our own vices frequently. Glasses stayed empty until we asked another server to fill. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a nice, well priced meal! read more

Food here is not good at all. First impressions matter, and for a Mexican place, that's the salsa. I wish I'd left after trying the salsa here, bland and flavorless only begin to describe what was served. This is the only time that I've not been able to finish a basket of tortilla chips in a Mexican restaurant. My wife ordered the Enchilada Suiza which is a chicken enchilada with a tomatillo sauce. The chicken was not shredded and each enchilada contained three large chunks of chicken. The tomatillo sauce tasted more like a basic tomato sauce from a can and did nothing for either of us. I ordered the shredded beef Chimichanga. I couldn't place the taste until I offered a bite to my wife. I had seemingly ordered a Pumpkin Spice Chimichanga. Dishes were accompanied by Spanish rice and refried beans. I'm not a good judge of Spanish rice, as I can't tell good from bad. This one seemed OK to me. The refried beans were a little thin (watery) and had zero seasoning. The service was fine as our waitress ensured that water was refilled in timely fashion and even brought us fresh chips (not needed, but the gesture was appreciated) shortly after our meal arrived. Douced it with habanero sauce, habanero sauce was watered down. The prices were outrageous for the poor quality of food you receive. Not to mention the two items I got on the side-2.99 for a side of retried beans and 9.99 for the most awful t'side guac! My entree was 12.99. The two sides were as much as my entire meal! No spices used in the food at all. I asked for jalapeño in the guac and the jalapeños had no flavor either. Food was very good. Service was very quick. We ordered two beers and three waters and honestly it took longer to get those than it did to get our meal once we ordered that. The food came our very quickly and it was really good. Waitress was young and probably hadn't been working there long so she looked a little confused at times, but she got the orders right in the end. The large beers are very large! I would go there again. The only down side was that the little TV in our booth didn't work. So for that they get docked 1 star. read more

I knew this was not going to be a spectacular experience when my family & I (5) walked in & the 3 hostesses completely ignored us. One hostess finally grabbed the menus, didn't say anything to us, led us into the seating area, stopped & looked frantically back at the front desk, proceeded to drop all the menus, and left us standing there awkwardly while she & another hostess pushed 2 tables together. The "chicken fajita salad" consists of barely seasoned chicken on a bed of shredded lettuce with a sprinkling of tomatoes. Poorly Run Restaurant - A Disappointing Dining Experience - We ate at Plaza Azteca on 2/1/17. We had so hoped that we would enjoy "dining" at this restaurant and we were prepared to drop $100 - $150 on a dinner for two. Unfortunately, we never got started and soon found ourselves deeply disappointed. The server, Emily, was very young, largely untrained, and was not even able to list some of the eateries more Authentic selections. Her service skills and product knowledge were almost non-existent. First, when we asked for Mezcal, she told us twice they didn't have it before later asking the bartender and informing us that they do carry it. When we asked for suggestions for a first course and told her we weren't big fans of cheese, she suggested a shrimp appetizer that we agreed to try. Guess what: It was chunks of shrimp served smothered in melted cheese. It was OK but we were not able to eat all the cheese (so we picked out the shrimp and moved on). Then, while we were attempting to formulate and order, she confirmed for us that their fajitas were made with Rib Eye steak (it said so on the menu item description; however, most fajitas in Mexico are usually made from flank or skirt steak). Looking forward to trying rib eye steak fajitas, we ordered them Medium, because rib eyes are marbled and can take the extra heat. Unfortunately, when the fajitas arrived, it was skirt steak on the plate and it was cooked all the way through. We asked the server to confirm the cut of steak on the plate and she tried saying it was rib eye. We then asked the her to confirm with the chef and she quickly returned to tell us it was rib eye (but it wasn't). Knowing the difference between rib eye and skirt steak, we requested a manager. That's when Emily informed us that there was no manager on premises. We asked who the manager was supposed to be and she told us the manager's name was "Luis". We dutifully ate the steak because she never came back to ask how it was (overcooked for flank steak). Fifteen minutes later, Murillo, the bartender and a manager of the management team cam over, acknowledged the steak was skirt steak and apologized for the mix-ups. He even gave us a $10 off coupon to use at our next visit. We thanked him but threw away the card because we'll likely never go back. Enough of the drama. Long story short: This Tex-Mex restaurant SUCKS. The food was misrepresented and disappointing (the beans were almost certainly canned re-fried beans) and the server was almost completely untrained and thus was incapable of guiding savvy diners to a gratifying experience. To add insult to disappointment, the "manager", "Luis" never did come to our table, likely because no one let him know that we had requested his presence. We saw him at the host stand on the way out and he seemed completely unaware of what was going on in the restaurant he is supposedly managing. This eatery is very, very poorly run and I suspect the owners don't even care. I tried e-mailing the management/ownership but their website is "Coming Soon", with no contact information to be found. Bottom Line, when looking to dine in a Mexican-style restaurant, this place is a waste of time and money. If you want good Mexican in Leesburg, VA, you'll likely have to cook it yourself. read more

The place looks amazing; the staff is super friendly and very engaging and the food is fantastic; not salty but season just right; the sauces have real flavor and the black beans are delicious. Just had a poor dinner & it's the second time we have tried the place with bad results! (first time was for drinks & appetizers) My dinner arrived on a hot plate but the dinner was stone cold. My husband's order arrived wrong so was sent back, only to receive the corrected order but that was stone cold. Our waitress was MIA and couldn't be bothered to even check back on us for refilling the water glasses. The only reason we got my meal replaced with a hot version was because we asked for a manager to be sent to the table. No real apology for the lousy meal experience. (the others were almost finished eating by the time my meal was straightened out) We won't be back. The food is not that great or memorable so not worth the trouble. This place was disappointing. Our steak fajitas came out with no seasoning and not sizzling. Our beans were cold. When we told the waitress about it she looked annoyed and brought us more cold beans that were soup-like on a heated plate; a heated plate is not enough to warm the beans through. Our enchiladas were delivered barely warm. They forgot to deliver part of our meal and we had to request it a second time. The hard ground beef taco was tasty, but frankly, the taco wasn't enough to save the meal. This place is crazy an hour wait and staff if rude and unprofessional . We went with our 7 and 5 yes old for dinner. Waited for 20 minutes to get a table , we weren't in hurry at that point. Than we waited and we waited and we waited for full 40 minutes. I got hold of a shift manager looking guy to request to check on the status of our order and I was told we are busy today. New Management has drastically improved things at Plaza Azteca! Our office in Cobb Village orders frequently to have catered lunches. Not only is the new manager, Anthony, extremely friendly, efficient and personable, since his coming on-board Winter '19 the food and quality of service here has noticeably improved! Our office often eats in-restaurant as well, and we have had great experiences since the start of Anthony's good management. No, it isn't the "fanciest' take on Mexican food, but you get a good bang for your buck and it is delicious for a great price! It's perfect for when you're craving some good, classic, Mexican soul food.The service in-restaurant is great in the experience I've had....remember you're not eating at a 5-star steakhouse, people! The friendly, casual environment of the staff is perfect for a fun place to get tasty, unlimited chips and salsa for your meal and a yummy margarita with a good, cheap meal. If I could give this place a 0 star I WOULD! My sister and I went in on a Monday night at 9 o'clock. Which we are fast eaters, we just wanted some delicious queso and dinner so we could be on our way. But in this case we didn't get to try any!!! This is because they closed early, even though there website says 10pm. I called and asked the manager why would they close early and this was her response, "We did not get any service since 8pm so we are closing an hour early." Excuse me??? WHAT? I work in the food industry and i know my managers would NEVER do that. Also it was a bold face LIE because my sister and I both saw people in there either waiting to be served or munching on some chips. Also when we first entered the door the hostess or manager? greeted us with no welcoming just plain attitude, while a server who was fixing menu's rolled her eyes at us! WHAT? Staff is beyond rude.
