We haven't been to Katy's Creek in Walnut Creek for years. today we walked in because Sweet Maple had a line with rowdy men in it that we didn't want to expose our child to. walking in, we have the option to sit outside inside or in the sunroom. We decided to sit inside because it was cooler. I really like the basketball lighting as it gives a rustic chic looked to the restaurant. I ordered a grapefruit, mimosa and country fried steak and my partner ordered the Dungeness crab Benedict and ordered a kids meal for our son with scrambled eggs. One thing that I wanted to know about customer service, is that we didn't notice that our son lost his toy under the table and one of the servers came by picked it up for him because she noticed that he was reaching for it. I came here for brunch with a group of friends and got seated right away. The service was friendly, and the ambiance was rustic and charming. The food was well presented, and the portions were large. I tried the Nutella waffle with strawberries, banana, and whipped cream. It was yummy, but the waffle didn't taste very fresh to me, and the chocolate tasted more like regular chocolate than Nutella. I also think it could've used a bit more Nutella, especially since it was advertised as a Nutella waffle. That being said, the fruit was fresh and added flavor to the waffle, and the syrup paired well. We've had breakfasts delivered from Katy's Kreek multiple times now, and from my perspective, they consistently deliver high quality food that is well packaged and presented. Most recently, we ordered their garden omelette which was an excellent portion of fluffy eggs and filled with different chopped veggies and topped with sliced avocado. The omelette had the right level of salt and was accompanied by country potatoes that were nicely seasoned and were tender but not overcooked or overcharred. We also got their side fruit bowl which included fresh strawberries and blueberries. The portion size was good, and only thing is that the melon and cantaloupe could have been more ripe. We have previously enjoyed their traditional egg Benedict (which included properly poached eggs and creamy hollandaise), over easy eggs with bacon and sausage, and their French toast--all were excellent. I hope to eat there in the near future but will keep on getting their breakfasts delivered in the meantime! read more

Katy's Kreek Restaurant in Walnut Creek has the best French toast I've had in a long time. Brunch is my favorite meal of the day so I've had many of French toast and baby, this one took won by far! The amount of cinnamon infused in the batter and the powdered sugar topping and somehow they were able to make the French toast and the crust of the bread be crunchy and not soggy how most French toast can sometimes come out. That is why it is the best I've ever tasted, and it wasn't an overdone crust. It was just perfect to allow for a bit of a crunch to go with the cinnamon butter, maple syrup, and powdered sugar, which made my breakfast heavenly. Went here to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday and my other friends Breakfast looked good, but my French toast was legendary! So, if you're in the mood for French toast and in the East Bay this is my recommendation to try, Katie's Kreek. The service was quick even though the restaurant was packed, which means the staff was working hard and was also very friendly. Very causal and laid back vibes for sure. If you come on a Saturday morning, which I did, you can expect a small wait, but I guarantee you the food here is worth the weight! They also had some delicious lunch options that I was thinking of trying, but will save for a later time. Look forward to returning to Katy's very soon. Since my last experience 17 years ago, I've never been back to Katy's Kreek. But the honey loves benedicts and that seems to be their specialty, so we decided to drop in. Katy's Kreek has limited outside seating (two tables) and our service was prompt. The honey enjoyed his benedict (which came with three poached eggs), but my eggs, bacon, and potatoes? No. 17 years later and it's still no. The egg whites were the only positive. The potatoes were incredibly oily and the bacon? It was worse than the free bacon they give at a hotel lounge. Dry and overcooked (and I prefer my bacon crispy) - it was just bad. So in 17 years it seems they haven't changed much, other than inflation catching up to their prices. read more

Such a great place. It has old California charm and great food. We love them for breakfast but the lunch / dinner menu is great as well. You have to try one of their Benedict dishes. That said, I love the biscuits and gravy but definitely ask for extra gravy! The Katy's Kakes are awesome too and the syrup is so good. Five stars are for the servers! All of the servers are amazing! My Godchild loves this place. Truth be told, not my first choice for breakfast/brunch. But I end up here often enough. The food is solid, 4 stars always at least. Generally plates of food are not served hot. I want my food hot in temperature. Their potatoes are the star here. Most places I get a salad instead of potatoes. Never here, get the potatoes! They have a full bar, and know what they are doing when it comes to making a drink. Enjoy! read more

My recent experience at Katy's Kreek was really disappointing. I meet up with a friend here a few times a year for their eggs Benedict. This morning, both of our crab Benedict's were just awful and the potatoes were burnt. The eggs were cold as were the soggy English muffins. The crab wasn't fresh. It just missed it on every mark. Service was good. They offered to make something else for us but we declined. They did not charge us for the two entrees that we did not eat. Although it was a fail on this particular entree I will give Katy's Kreek another try. read more

They've got A variety of egg benedict dishes, omelets, breakfast plates, pancakes, waffles... and then you flip the menu and you've got salads, burgers and sandwiches! So many things to choose from. The portions are huge. They serve Peet's coffee and they have a bar. My party ordered: Green Omelet, a chorizo Omelet, and I got the Chicken Cobb Salad. Everything looked amazing and tasted delicious! We had a birthday to celebrate and the staff delivered a plate of fresh berries and a crepe while singing Happy Birthday! So cute. So the good and the bad... The good is that the staff is friendly and the ambiance on the patio is warm and relaxed. The bad is that the food is not worth the price. I ordered a very basic breakfast plate, something I figured couldn't be messed up: two scrambled eggs, three small cakes and sausage and bacon. The eggs were worse than I've had from hotel breakfast buffets. Overcooked, under-seasoned scrambled eggs. The pancakes were flat and rubbery. Flatjacks instead of flapjacks. The sausage and bacon were nicely done, good crisp on the bacon. It would have been nice if there was any kind of plant on the plate, either a slice of orange or a bit of greens. They charge 18.99 for this plate, can they not add even the semblance of special touches? Otherwise, what's to differentiate this plate from a Denny's special? Nothing but the price my fellow breakfast lovers. Go to Denny's instead and pay half this for the same exact thing. It might even be better. if you're seeking a nice atmosphere and service with a smile, but don't mind if the food isn't great, Katy's is a good fit. read more

Love this local breakfast place! I would have loved to have one of their famous Bloody Marys but I had a lot of driving today. They were very accommodating with my order: I ordered the California Benedict but subbed bacon for the sliced turkey. Then sliced tomatoes instead of potatoes. It was delicious! Piles of bacon and fresh avocado, perfectly poached eggs, lovely hollandaise. Lots of free iced tea refills and also got an iced tea To Go.
