We were so busy, enjoying the food and the company that I forgot to take pictures until we were on our way out!

Best date night ever! We had the pleasure of catching "Beer for Breakfast" at the Marathon Community Theater, our favorite local gem. Being members of this tiny but vibrant community theater fills us with pride, and last night reaffirmed why we love it so much. What we didn't expect was the incredible dining experience at The Plaza Grill, right next door! From the moment we tasted the tomato sauce served with the calamari, we knew we were in for a treat. It was rich and flavorful, setting the stage for what was to come. We couldn't resist ordering the Chicken Parm, and let me tell you -- it was excellent, excellent, excellent! If you're looking for a perfect combination of entertainment and dining, I highly recommend both the Marathon Community Theater and The Plaza Grill. We can't wait to go back!

Filet, strip, and dirty chai martinis! Yummmmmm

Daniella was such a sweetheart- she had a cute little sign wishing us a happy anniversary! Also, the filet was AMAZING!!!!! My fiancé enjoyed his strip steak as well. Thank you to the whole team for helping us celebrate 10 years together!

We had Cowboy Ribeye Steak and New York Strip. Cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. Staff very friendly and the Owner stopped by our table and was very welcoming. Would highly recommend.

We loved our anniversary dinner this evening at Plaza Grill. Our server, Neven, was awesome! We had martinis and margaritas and split the surf and turf special. The evening and food was perfect!!!

Deliciousss restaurant in Marathon! I've been meaning to check it out for a while and I'm so happy we did as it doesn't look like much from the outside but when you go in everyone is so nice! The food was great and we will definitely come back!

We sat outside hoping to see the manatees at one point- never saw them. We ordered the lobster enchiladas, shrimp Reuben, and blackened lionfish with coleslaw and potato salad. Lobster enchiladas tasted like nothing- the shell was also oddly dry and unpleasant. I tried to drown it in the sauce, rice and beans, but honestly, almost everything on our table lacked salt and flavor. Can't believe they said Guy Fieri liked this. The bottom of the shrimp Reuben was soggy that it started falling apart. There was like 4 shrimp inside. This one was probably the most flavorful- but I still wasn't impressed. Lastly, I knew lionfish needs a lot of seasoning, and having blackened lionfish helps. But the sides (the coldslaw and the potato salad) were....so so so disappointing. A review said it felt like they were eating cafeteria food- that's exactly what I felt as well. Really appreciate the server for being so attentive and kind- they even brought over another slice of key lime pie (we only ordered one) because it was taking a while- definitely didn't expect it but appreciated the sweet gesture. For the price of it all, I paid similar for a wonderfully delicious seafood meal the other day so quite disappointed it didn't come up to par.

We had breakfast here three times and dinner here once. I'd say worth it for breakfast but probably not for dinner. Breakfast was always great! Super attentive service with coming around to refill your coffee. The food was always delicious. I loved the French toast. My kids always liked their breakfast as well and the kids portions were pretty big. The junior pancakes come with three good sized pancakes. Now onto dinner, the free starter bread they bring out was great. We had the lump crab cake to start which was pretty good, not amazing but decent. For my entree, I had the wagyu ravioli. The portion was tiny. It really did not taste like it had Wagyu in it at all. I didn't like the sauce either. Honestly, I felt like the dish literally tasted exactly like the chef boyardee ravioli my kids sometimes eat. The roll it came with also seemed like the kind you can buy at the grocery store in the freezer section. All of this is kind of insane when you are charging $50 for this dish. Service was still good at dinner but I felt the food was mediocre for the prices they were charging. So overall, I'd recommend Mahina more for breakfast than for dinner.

Our dinner at Mahina was, unfortunately, a very disappointing two-star experience…read more From the moment we arrived, the restaurant felt much more casual than the website and photos suggested. We waited at an unattended host stand while maybe five (?) employees walked by and told us someone would be with us shortly, yet no one actually helped us until other guests began lining up behind us. I had a reservation and when we got there requested an outdoor table, I was told the patio was fully booked and we could move outside if there were no-shows. However, numerous set outdoor tables remained empty throughout our entire meal, making that explanation frustrating. After being seated, we ordered drinks and were told the smoker for the smoked Old Fashioned was broken. If a signature cocktail is featured on the menu, I would expect a backup option when equipment isn't working. There is also a disconnect between Mahina's branding and its menu. The restaurant markets itself as Polynesian-inspired. Instead, the menu is overwhelmingly American and contemporary, with only a few tropical ingredients or loosely Hawaiian-inspired dishes. Beyond ahi poke and touches of pineapple or guava, the menu is dominated by items like flatbreads, fried ravioli, calamari, burgers, steaks, and crab cakes. The restaurant also felt unfinished and somewhat disorganized. The beautiful pizza oven featured in promotional photos appeared closed off and was seemingly being used as a storage or service area. Staff were constantly rushing around and at one point the kitchen door flew open behind us and there was some type of collision between staff. Individually these aren't major issues, but together they detracted from what should have been an calm ambiance and relaxed dining experience. Our server was pleasant but largely absent after taking our order. My husband finished his drink without ever being offered another, and our food took an unusually long time to arrive. We watched six tables seated after us receive their meals first. When I asked about the delay, I was initially told our food would be right out, only to wait several more minutes before being told it was still being prepared. I think our food was definitely forgotten about until we asked. The food itself was good, but at $60-$70 for many entrées and well over $100 per person for dinner, I expected a far more polished experience. Those prices are comparable to restaurants at The Breakers Palm Beach, where the service, atmosphere, and overall experience are on an entirely different level. We ordered the crab cake and the bison burger with truffle fries. Both were enjoyable, but our first impressions influenced our choices. We would have ordered more expensive entrées, but after the arrival experience and service, we didn't feel confident they would justify the cost. I was also surprised that the $35 bison burger is actually a blend of bison and other meats. On the menu, "wagyu" is misspelled, so also wasn't going to order that. Just a lot of little things that contributed to an underwhelming experience. The little things matter, especially at that price point. When we expressed our frustration with out experience, we asked for our dessert to be comped. The Key Lime Pie slice was tiny and is listed on the menu for $15. Crazy. At the end of the night, they discounted our check as well which was appreciated. I think if we were seated outside, our experience would have been really different. We would have been much more relaxed and probably wouldn't have noticed a lot of the small things, but sitting inside felt stressful and very drawn out due to the environment and our extended wait for our food. If we were watching the sunset maybe the wait wouldn't have felt so long. Overall, Mahina did not deliver the elevated dining experience we expected. The food was enjoyable and our server was kind, but the disorganized atmosphere, inconsistent service, long wait times, and premium pricing left us disappointed.

But it isn't a good restaurant, in any way. As several other reviewers have said, the service is terrible and the food isn't good. We were staying at the resort and came right when they opened for breakfast, but for whatever reason, they decided to help another larger group first, that arrived well after us. The larger group got their food and left before we even got our food. The servers largely ignored us the entire time, even though they were super attentive to other groups. I'm not sure what we did to bother the staff so much besides arriving right at 7 am, but the experience was terrible and we won't be back here even though we have a food credit through the resort. Not that it will do any good, but we will be reaching out to the hotel management because they clearly have a problem here. I don't think they care because they have a captive audience on the resort that is always new. If you're staying at the resort , this is not a place to actually eat a meal.

She apologized for the long wait (hahaha). Menu: Extensive! Great selection of wine, pastas, meats, and seafood platters. All exceptionally fresh! The homemade blue cheese dressing was exceptional too! The linguine was the default, but they are happy to change out the pasta type upon request. Food for thought: If you have a party of 8+ call in advance by a couple of days. They really only accommodate a party this large one table at a time. The restaurant is small.
