Only ever order eggrolls and pho and maybe the occasional chicken wing. Everything else is a hit or miss. The food is better at the restaurant vs takeout. Service is also a hit or miss. This restaurant came highly recommended to me when I was drooling over a picture of some Pho my friend made. I obsessed about it until that Friday when I could not deny myself of Pho Deluxe any longer. I ordered take out since I was alone and the restaurant only has about 6 tables. It is small and clean and service is always friendly. I brought my Pho Deluxe and a stuffed chicken wing home and nearly had an out of body experience. The wonderful flavors and textures complimented each other so well. Heavenly. I had enough for two meals too. This is my new place for Asian food! I was a little disturbed when I went in and nobody was at the counter to take our order. Basically, you go to the counter, order, take to go. There is a little seating area that you can take your food and sit and eat it. The menus seemed to have more Lao than anything, not what we were expecting. We searched by Thai and we get there and it's Lao. We walked right out. Some of the reviews on here said Thai so that's what we're expecting and they corrected us when we got there. read more

Ordered from Plia's exactly twice. My wife and I lived in Dallas-Ft.Worth for over 30 years, which had "real" Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants that we frequented. As a matter of fact, one of my bests friends was a Vietnamese who I fought with in '68-'71. Being asian, he knew the foods and we ate at only the best asian restaurants. Our first time ordering at Plia's we rated out dish as good as any we ever had. The second time ordering the exact same dish, it was totally different and tasted like the meat was rancid or spoiled creating a putrid taste. Also, it wasn't not made with the same ingredients. If there's ONE thing that we all desire from the restaurants that we go to is "CONSISTANCY". Obviously, we won't eat there again. read more

The food is great but the condiments on the table are sticky and gross. I don't think they get cleaned and wiped down after every use. The building is small and fills up quickly for lunch so oftentimes you need to take your food togo instead of eat there. I wish they had something more eco friendly than styrofoam. First time to eat here and was not disappointed. per others its a small place so I walked in with the idea if crowded wld get to go. I ordered to go and walked out the door in less than 15mins. I ordered the Pho Regular, side fried rice, side egg roll. All was perfectly executed. the pho came in a sealed tup that didnt leak, had the broth, meatball and steak only in it as it should. all the vegetables and spice paste were in a separate container and you added to taste. it had, cilantro, chive, onion, lime, jalapeno, sprouts, basil. noodles were in another container, sticky,, but not long so easy spoon and sip. The fried rice was maybe the best I have had.. all the usual ingredients as you would hope.. but also a few fresh tomatoes and cooked lightly in oil that stuck to the rice well. The egg rolls were not as good as I wanted but still very good. as with all rolls.. some have less meat than others and some none at all. If mine had any... I couldnt tell. also it was heavy wrapped and made it somewhat dense wall so to say. It was cooked properly and not saturated with oil. This is my new spot for sure!! read more

4.5 stars. Small. But busy. Prices are reasonable. It hasn't taken very long to get a table. Order and get a seat as other patrons leave. The same menu as Mai's deli in Appleton. My favorites are the different curry dishes l, ginger beef and Pad Ka Pow. When I say the same as Mai's, I mean it. The egg rolls, stuffed wings, pad thai and curries are all similar. And when I say similar, I mean delicious. Maybe the one criticism I have is that the curries can have a ton of fish sauce. My kids love the dishes. Try something new. My mom and I come here roughly a few times a month and has replaced our Chinese takeout night haha. My favorite dish is the Pad Thai because it has the most unique yet best flavor of any other Pad Thai I've had. The egg rolls and the sweet chili sauce that comes with are really good, and I love the Thai ice tea. I also love the little things: the many toppings/condiments on each table, the bulletin board of compliments from many people, the suggestion 'box' (it looks like a conch shell), and the little melon candies they have. Honestly, the only real downside of the place I can think of is the music they play. They have this little radio that is set to the default Top 40 station and I think most people don't go out to a rather nice meal to listen to that. All in all, the place looks really cute, the lady who works the register/serves you your food is super nice, and the food is awesome! I definitely recommend this place :) read more

Tried this place on a whim. Boy am ever glad I did! The curry noodles were amazing and the stuffed chicken wing was incredible. I also couldn't have asked for friendlier staff. As I write, Plia's has only been open for about 3 weeks so needless to say, they are still ironing out a few kinks. For example, you'll want to double-check the hours because this is a small family-run cafe, and a couple of times they've had to adjust their hours to meet an unexpected need. But we've already done carry-outs 3 times, so I feel confident in saying that the food here is consistent, freshly made and delicious! So far we've had 2 noodle dishes (Pad Thai, Pad See Ew) Basil Fried Rice, and Hmong Egg-rolls. If you're not familiar with the latter, they use a much lighter wrapper than the more familiar Chinese egg-rolls, and have bean thread. I love 'em and previously could only get them at Plia's stand at the Farmer's Market, or at fundraisers around town. Advice: 1) I'd heard that Hmong cooking uses a lot of MSG. I asked about this, and was told most of the prepared-to-order dishes can be made without MSG upon request, so be sure to specify "NO MSG" if you're sensitive. 2) Currently - in my own experience and that of friends - a meal takes about 30 minutes to prepare. So if you're short on time and plan to eat in, you might want to call ahead and order. But give them a try! I hope Plia's Kitchen becomes a home town favorite and I look forward to upgrading this to 5 stars when they've ironed out those few kinks. Finally good Thai. But it's not Thai it's Asian Fusion. Vietnamese Pho, delish. Hmong egg rolls, really good. My fav Thai did is Pad See Ew. Wide noodle dish that I enjoy w beef. Awesome version here. Pad Thai is a little fishy but authentic. Don't know how they filet and stuff the chicken wings but try one. Can't say enough about Pila's. Classic little hole in the wall with fantastic, authentic, fresh food. Easily became our favorite Asian restaurant in the Green Bay area as soon as we gave it a try. So far have eaten the yellow curry with several dishes, the pad thai, and the pad cashew for entrees. The yellow curry is absolutely delicious! Very disappointed at this place. I'm not from around here and I saw that it had great reviews so we went here. Online it says they are open until 9PM but at the shop they said they close at 8 PM. It was only 7:25 PM when we entered the door. The girl/cashier would not seat us and told us that they don't seat anyone past 7:30 PM. So I told her that it's technically not 7:30 PM and she said no cause they close at 8 PM. The girl/cashier seemed to be in a rush to go home of course. AND they weren't even busy when we walked in. So we decided to just walk out cause we can't do carry-out on Pho as we were currently staying at a hotel that doesn't have a stove so there was no way we were gonna have a stove to heat up our pho broth if I had done carry out. They also need to fix their time online as well. read more

I ordered the Pad Se Ew with chicken and it was delicious! Generous portion too! I also got an egg roll and two crab rangoons. The apps are sold individually but they are much bigger than other Thai places I've been too. I went a few days later and got the Green Curry. It had a mild kick to it and came with white rice. I wasn't impressed and next time if I try the curry, I will probably add veggies in addition to chicken. It comes with only bamboo shoots, mushrooms, and eggplant - and your choice of meat or tofu. I also ordered a stuffed chicken wing (weird, but good) and a spring roll. The chicken wings are stuffed with the same ingredients as inside of the egg roll. Interesting twist! My one complaint was service. I tried to order takeout by calling and they just let the phone ring if they are too busy. I asked about it when I got to Plia's and placed an order in person, and the woman at the front desk said they don't do phone orders when they're "too busy." A recording when you call couldn't hurt because I just tried over and over without knowing they just wouldn't answer. They were quick to get my food out and everything was ready in about 15/20 minutes from when I placed my order. Both times I've gone on week nights and the tables were packed with a line waiting for take out. read more
