Arrived in Missoula late on a Thursday night. Found Plonk through Yelp and decided to give it a shot. What a gem! The ambiance, the cocktails, the food and the service were way beyond our expectations. We shared a few items, the chicken Provençal stew was exceptional. It was a French Onion soup but with a chicken twist. On a cold, snowy night, it was perfect. The cauliflower and beignets were also noteworthy. Will return every time we are in Missoula. read more

Plonk is really a fun place to have drinks and apps with friends. The rooftop is open now for Spring/Summer and it's definitely worth trying to get a table up there. I love a good cocktail and this is the best place in Missoula for cocktails in my opinion. Most of the food dishes I've tried have been amazing to say the least. I have had bad service from a waitress once and I had a steak that got mistakenly way overcooked once as well, but I've been over a dozen times and generally speaking they have great service, great food, and great beverages. read more

Imagine someone asking you to combine cauliflower, peaches, basil, hazelnuts, whipped goat cheese and balsamic...you might think they are off their rocker, but this cauliflower appetizer was off the hook! If you ain't sippin' on Gin and Juice, you ain't laaaaiiiid back... It may sound like an ordinary drink, but at Plonk it exceeds all cocktail expectations. I've had the food here, and yes, it is wonderful and the servers do well at describing each plate, HOWEVER, WHY eat food when you could drink all your calories with these freaking incredible house-made cocktails??? The Bubbly Gin Blossom is light, bubbly, and delicate in flavor, reminding me of the fresh lychee drinks I had in Bali. Did I mention the Bubbly Gin Blossom is on the happy hour... And they have 2 happy hours??? Gin and Juice is my favorite drink, it's refreshing, tart/sweet balanced, and you get a big tasty glass of tipsy for just $7. Keep the refills coming, sister. The ladie's bathroom is definitely worth a visit or two (ya know, after you break the seal) to see a clean, orderly, creatively decorated bathroom. The wall has a pink flowered tree made with tile. came here for a friends birthday dinner and sat on the upstairs patio, which was lovely! great ambience & centrally located. we shared the cheese board, the short ribs, the salmon, and the zucchini cakes, and all agreed that the short ribs were probably the weakest link although still good, and everything else was especially delish. the cheese board had cornichons and grain mustard which really took it to the next level. a nice place to share a bottle of wine and some small plates! read more

Was in Missoula for our anniversary, and had to decide on our "one good meal". Thank God my wife picked Plonk. Great vibe inside the place. Really fun atmosphere and they have a few tables that are just on the edge of being outside, so you get a nice mix of being outside and inside. Now to what you really care about - the food. We basically ordered the entire menu. The party of four next to us kept looking over at the food that kept coming out and was like "wut?" and as they got their food and tasted how delicious it was, I could see jealousy in their eyes. Highlights: -Fried tomatoes with smoked idaho trout. Absolutely incredible. -Filet. Perfectly done. I rarely get steak when we are out because we cook it at home so well, but it was a phenomenal cut of meat. -Scallops. Delicious. Again, perfectly done -Steak tartare. Excellent. Not too heavy. I really, really wanted to give this place 5 stars... so first the good news. first our server was excellent-- he checked in on us frequently enough but never interrupted our meal or experience. The food was incredible-- I had the penn cove clams that had smokey ham hock which made the tomato base with beans just scream exceptional. I followed it with the steak salad, which was a mix of hand selected greens nicely dressed with groaned and pickles carrots. I'm still reeling from how good it was. My friend ordered the skirt steak entree and the plate was cleaned. With a nice beverage selection to compliment your meal, Plonk is a great place to be. Now onto why the docked star. I was ready to dock them all and walk out just after walking in. My experience started out really rough. It was my first time here and mind you, I was really excited to take my guest around missoula for some great food. When we entered, the hostess stand was empty so we signaled a woman returning to the hostess stand. She didn't greet us but just muttered "seat yourself" as she walked away. First, I didn't really hear her, and second-- the establishment was so nice that I could barely believe we didn't even get a cordial "one second". At least put out a cheesy "please seat yourself sign"-- what am I, a mind reader? Or at least invest in someone who can make guests feel comfortable and welcome right away. So we stood there and waved down another person who ended up being our server. The only table left was a corner table that appeared to have difficult access. The guests next to us were rude and didn't really help the situation when we politely asked to get through. So, needless to say the first part of our experience was dreadful but very contrary to the wonderful meal and service we finally received. I would have written a scathing review if I walked out. Thankfully the chef is a genius and other staff made the night better. So just FYI-- no reservations unless you're a large group and it is seat yourself. read more

I mean, the shyteholes are clean don't get me wrong, they polish a mean pooper, but all the authentic hair styles moved back to Naples! They still serve free fries for monkees. right? Plonk advertises free french fries for flying gibbons. If I go into Plonk AGAIN are there are NO MONKEYS eating FREE FRENCH FRIES I will cry into a handmade bowl all night. Lovely dinner & cocktails with friends last night. WAY TOO NOISY for my taste. Probably would have stayed longer but we had to sit in a lounge area on incredibly uncomfortable chairs and have dinner at a little low table. Hence the 4 stars. Six of us got together to go to a concert and decided we'd get food together before we went. They put three round bar tables together to accommodate us even though there were other spots they could've sat us.... The drinks were good, wine list was nice, I had the salmon and it was a small portion but prepared well, my friend had the piccata and she said it was flavorless and dry. Our server was very nice until we asked for split checks and were told it wasn't possible. We took the check and t wrote on the back the exact amount to run each card, it was very easy. Yes, she had to run six cards that took no time at all and when she came back to deliver them she said her manager told her that we could do it this time, but if we came back in the future that they would not do it again.... Well, no worries none of us will ever be returning. ** we're actually ALL from the service industry and this practice of NOT allowing split checks is Absolute BS, IT'S THEIR JOB, Hands down, I've done it and it is in very bad taste for the HOSPITALITY industry. Great Mediterranean funk restaurant in Missoula, a welcome change from BBQ and heavy meals, great atmosphere and shareable menu with many unique offerings, We had a roasted cauliflower with whipped feta, hazelnuts, balsamic and fresh basil. Just right with a nice Prosecco. Also the lamb kafta with turmeric, yogurt tzatski like dressing with rice and light arugula cucumber and red onion. We really enjoyed Plonk, and stopped by three times while visiting Missoula. The wine list is great, and more than fairly priced. The food was excellent to, our favorite were the samosas. First - this is not a very child friendly place. No changing tables or high chairs. If you are foodie and have kids, keep this in mind as it could pose difficulties with two toddlers or younger kids. Also, no WiFi for guests is a bit disappointing in today's times where WiFi is commonplace(we asked our server about WiFi access and were told that there was no public WiFi available). Atmosphere, neat old building with a slightly hipster vibe. Decor and wine focus is pretty awesome, however no beers on draught is a downfall for beer connoisseurs like my husband. The service is okay, nothing spectacular or great. The servers seems friendly enough, but definitely just here to take your order rather than give you a run down on the menu, history of the place or be friendly. I expected a more friendly feel from the staff since this is Missoula, not NYC. Lastly, the food. I will say this was the best part of the whole visit. The tartare was a great portion and size, although a few capers on the plate would have made it even better. The scallops were VERY well cooked, and well rinsed with no grit. I was very impressed to have sea beans which were good. I thought the portions were mostly good, and I felt the pricing was fair for the food. All in all dinner was good (nothing was bad, but nothing was outstanding either), service needed to be better, and they need to consider a generation that enjoys taking their kids out to eat. Though the place looks better inside the rating is due to worst customer service. They need to know the meaning of service and understand that people are paying so much money and not eating or drinking for free. Especially male staffs are extremely rude, disrespectful and they don't have any clue why they are here. It's hard to explain in words and never been treated so badly. They think that they are there for vacation instead of serving customers. We were there on a really hot day so we did eat inside. The ambiance in the restaurant was beautiful and cool. Rooftop bar gets an A grade! The service was acceptable. Drinks were excellent. The dinner menu was abbreviated for Sunday which was fine. The items looked special but I have to say that very few of them were very special which was disappointing. The best entree in our group was the pork chop--delicious! Our group had the salmon, the massaman curry with shrimp, and the short ribs. This was an expensive dinner, which we didn't have an issue with but except for the pork chop the general feeling was meh. I would say I didn't feel like we got food value for the money, in what looked like it could be a special restaurant. Another perspective that people don't get going to the restaurant. I flew from ATL to BZN recently and my seat mate I found out at the end of the trip owned a restaurant in BZN, called The Plonk. As for the man, Michael he was always smiling and was very kind, he even offered me half his sandwich leaving ATL that he had brought onboard. He met my Yorkie who escaped her carrier about an hour from landing. He gave me some good insights into BZN and the winter sports. The food and his place got big 5 stars reviews from my kids whom I quizzed and who live there and have been to The Plonk several times. They love the place and the great food and atmosphere. Eight of us dined there tonight, July 12 2022. We had outstanding service. The staff hustled and our water glasses in the 97 degrees day were constantly filled. Sat outside. Amazing energetic well trained staff. All of our dinners were awesome. Four of us had the tenderloin. I have had many disappointing tenderloins, including ones I cooked, and I am certain this was the best ever. Medium rate. Very tasty and tender. The best steak in Missoula.
