Located on Houston street next to Coastline Pizzeria. There is a private parking lot adjacent, which is handy for this area. The interior is fairly old school and was empty during lunch service. The menu focused on European style dishes. Service was very good and our server was very friendly with suggestions. We got some escargot in butter to share (4/5), mussels (2/5), and bread for the table. The escargot was pretty solid compared to what is available in town, the garlic butter sauce was a good bread dipper as well. The mussels tasted a bit off and the sauce wasn't very flavorful either. I got the pork chop for my main (2.5/5); it was a bit tough and wasn't very flavorful outside of being salted. The brussell sprouts were not my favorite but the fries itself were decent. I'm in love with everything about this Cafe. The service was so fabulous they were very attentive from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. I did not feel rushed to pay or to order. Since it was my first time I had to take a little bit of time to peruse the menu. I was very happy that I tried sampler of mussels. I have to say the curried ones were my favorite. My friend enjoyed the variety of beers they had to offer. Food was delicious. The tasting sampler of the mussels was a hit. We dined the day after New Year for dinner and unfortunately service was slow. There were a good amount of customers dining but not sure if maybe they were short staffed. The staff there were friendly though. We were too full from the bread, mussels, and our entrees that we didn't have enough space in our stomachs to try the dessert. This is one of my top favorite restaurants in Houston. The service is good. The food is consistent and delicious. The vibe is great too- instead of filling every space with a TV screen, the walls are decorated with Belgian signs and pop art, clocks and handbags, and beer logos. This place has an excellent selection of Belgian beers, unlike any other in Houston. I really recommend the mussels. There are several broth options. They're all good. But my go to is the white wine broth. Simple, savory, consistent, and so good. The salmon salad is also great, with a delicious tangy dressing and a generous portion of fish. Went on a weekend for lunch, but the menu had so many great options that we decided to try escargots (deliciously buttery), spaghetti Bolognese (the kids' portion was PLENTY), and the chicken curry plate with extra spice. The first thing I want to say is how friendly everyone is that works there! The service was spectacular and I love the ambience of the restaurant. It feels like a nice escape from Houston and stepping into a small restaurant/café in Europe. I had the garlic mussels with fries and they were spectacular! I had been wanting to try this local cafe after seeing all the reviews on yelp. As a first ward resident myself, I was excited to support this business. Love me a good local neighborhood spot! Came here during lunch with my wife and 4 month old. There is parking behind the building that shares with other businesses, but it is plentiful. We walked in and got sat right away - we did go on a slow weekday. Place is pretty casual and laid back with a lot of Belgian decor all over. We ordered off of their lunch menu but got mussels for appetizers. They are known for the mussels, so we had to get it. They offer a lot of different styles of mussels but we opted for their Moules à l'Escargot which is mussels in this delicious butter garlic sauce. I got the Le Chic Poulet (chicken sandwich with veggies), and my wife got the Le Thon (tuna sandwich). The lunch special comes with either fries or soup of the day - I got fries and my wife got the soup which was carrot soup that day. The mussels were delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. The sandwiches were both ok although I did like the chicken better. Fries were good and carrot soup were ok. Portions are decent sized. Overall I liked my visit here. I will definitely be back for the mussels, but also to try other things on their menu. Happened to see this spot when I was cruising down the road and so I had to stop in today. I'm a HUGE fan of Belgian beer and this place had all the good ones. Their beer menu is filled with all the classic icons. Their food was decent but their beer is really where it's at. The place was a hit out-dated but the service was really excellent. Only reason why it's not a 5-star is because their food prices are kind on the high end for a spot like this. Definitely go for the drinks though. Highly recommend. read more

This is our second visit, the first was years ago. It doesn't seem that much has changed. It feels bar/pub like with lots of dark wood but still family friendly. The service is fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. The waitress was super sweet and helpful when my daughter sloshed some of her beverage. And the food is why we remembered this place and came back. The mussels are outstanding with so many preparations to choose from. The fries and homemade mayonnaise are perfection. My husband opted for the steak tartar this time. For food I do want to note they make everything fresh in house daily and their mussels are never frozen. We started out with a mussels in a cheese sauce. It was delicious. My husband had the meatloaf. I stole a lot of his food it was so good. My spaghetti bolognese was about 2 servings worth. I made the mistake of eating too much again it was so good! The reason for 4 stars. We wanted to save the mussels sauce but the waitress just took it away after we told her not to. The Bernaise sauce didn't flow. It was like rubber and awful. The green beans were pure inedible mush. The croquet was tasteless. It was all awful. The beer selection was fantastic. I ordered several. The check comes and they are like 13-15 each for a small draft. The beer menu has no prices. Now I know why. The service is ok, and the ambiance is ok too. My husband got a sausage and potato omelet (loaded with the fillings), and I ordered the croque madame. The grilled sandwich was simple yet flavorful and their eggs were perfectly seasoned. Each item came with fries and salad. They make their fries in-house, and they are perfectly done. The salad and dressing were absolutely delicious. Such a simple yet delightful breakfast! I have been waiting to go here for 5 years. We always missed their open hours. So definitely check the schedule before going, but it's worth making a special trip. The inside is comfortable and welcoming. The tables and linens are crisp and clean with fresh white tablecloths. The decor offers something interesting no matter where you look. We ended up making an impromptu geography lesson for ourselves while waiting on food. Adrian at the bar was awesome. He was fast and attentive without being overbearing. I could not decide on a beer, and he offered to pick a flight for me just based on my "I like malty" guidance. I couldn't tell you the beers but all were great. We learned at checkout that Cafe Brussels has the largest Belgian beer selection in the country. If beer isn't your thing, they have a large wine selection, and if you're avoiding alcohol they have plenty of other options. For food, I ordered Le Curry with tomato soup after agonizing over the menu for too long. My husband ordered the Croque Monsieur. Everything was delicious. I didn't intend on finishing my entire plate, but it was too good not to. The bread served with our meal was crusty outside and soft inside, perfect to dip in my tomato soup. What an amazing meal! My husband and I came here for our NYE '22 dinner and it was superb! The restaurant is quaint and very easy to find. We Uber'ed but there is a parking lot and street parking. I love the eclectic decor of the place. It reminded me of the establishments we have visited in Europe. The owner is the deal! Straight to the point! Love her. The main star has always been the mussels in a pot - they have a lot of variety of broth to choose from, really enjoy them all! Their mussels are the house favorite for a reason. We had the garlic steamed 1/2 order. I do recommend them as an appetizer. This was the second time I've been here. The chicken cordon blue is easily one of the most delicious things on the menu and a must try for those not so much on the adventurous side. The first time I went we sat next to some people visiting from England and all 4 of them had the rabbit. "Exquisite," they proclaimed. Overcome with curiosity I had to try it on my second visit. The fries were a perfect side to soak up the delicious... gravy(?) that comes on top of the rabbit. It's a prune and raisin gravy which I thought for sure I would not like. WRONG. It was amazing.
