I had no idea how they get so many five stars. I had hired them to change shower valve. The Delta Monitor valve start to leaking on Saturday, he charge extra $100 because it is holiday weekend. Because the valve we want is not available, the worker put on two caps after cut the valve off and would come back the second time. This gave them another reason the charge extra $100 for the need to come back again. So the first service, ask them to cut off the old valve and put caps on cost $350. The work for putting on the new valve is $600, plus the cost of valve. The above are agreed cost before ask their service, very expensive, but I can't complain too much. They charged me $300 for the valve, I asked for the receipt of the valve, and he refused to give me. I can find from Ebay at $130 for this valve. The whole cost of changing show valve for Delta Monitor 1800 added up to $1240. The first time, the worker spent about 1 hour, and the second time, less than 1 hour, and the cost of labor is $650. It was Thanksgiving day, first day in my new home, and my pump area started retaining water. As a first time home-owner, I didn't know what to do and called "plumb-it" to fix the problem. I knew it was over-time, so it was going to be $200 just to check-out my problem. I agreed. They came in, they saw the problem and in the next 1 minute the problem was solved. The issue was that power plug of the ejector pump was not all the way pugged in and hence it was not draining the water. The plumber pushed the plug and the water was draining easily. The plumber didn't even touch one oz. of water or any pipes. He charged me another $200 as "service call", a total of nearly $400 for 1 minute job ! This was gouging at the best and it was Thanksgiving day ! The spirit of Thanksgiving had left the company and people working for it !!! As a first time home owner if he had educated me to "push" the plug in place, I could have saved at least $200 ! Shame on them for taking advantage of first time home owner ! I called Scott with a concern that the main pipe draining the water from our house was somehow plugged - we could not use any water in our house because it would then come up from the basement floor drain. He had 2 men at our house first thing the next morning. They were friendly and professional. Scott and Plumb-It is a cut above the rest. He came out the next day, wasn't afraid to get messy in order to accurately assess the situation in my crawl (I read that I should get three bids, and one of the other two guys didn't even go into the crawl), and gave me a straightforward estimate to do the job. When it came time to do the work, Plumb It went the extra mile to take out an additional clog in the drain line that was holding water, and found a way to hang the drain line to the beam. I was very impressed with the thoroughness of his work, and would recommend him in a heartbeat. Now that I have gone through the experience of a larger plumbing project, here is my advice what to look for in a plumber: 1. Make sure he thoroughly looks into your problem, and uses his experience for a good recommendation. Several other lazy plumbers I met took a quick glance and make the wrong assessment. Plumb-It went over the problem areas in my drain lines in detail in order to make an estimate. 2. Make sure your plumber recommends a smart solution, instead of giving you a few "convenient" options - like replacing all your pipes, or telling you to ignore the problem until the septic leaks all over your crawl space (seriously, one of the guys recommended this). Basically - I was really impressed that Scott treated the project as if it was his own home, and instead of just looking at it just as "a job", he did whatever was necessary and went the extra mile to make sure I had good plumbing for the future. Fair service. There was a plumbing issue in my bathroom which Scotts team was very attentive to. However, while the gentlemen fixing my bathroom were nice enough, they left it in quite a mess. The walls had dirty hand marks, as did the top of the toilet and all around the shower. Okay.. I normally don't do reviews.. But when I feel I can help other people avoid being taken advantage of. I'm going to say something. We had new granite counters and a new sink installed in our kitchen yesterday. And I had intended to put the new faucet and garbage disposal in myself.(a job pretty much anyone could do) But things have been crazy and my wife suggested having a plumber do it. So.. Apon referrals we had seen. She called Plumb it. Scott (I believe his name was) was nice and eager to help.. My wife explained the work we needed and asked what his fee would be.. I didn't need to hear what he said.. The look on her face said it all. $500!!!! $500 to slip a faucet in a hole.. Tighten the nut that holds it. Hook up two flexible water lines by hand.. Bolt a garbage disposal on and hook up two wires.. A job ANY plumber worth his salt could do in under a hour.. A job almost every review on amazon (for the garbage disposal) said "was the easiest install they had ever done.. 20 Min. Tops!!" I don't care how nice of a guy he is.. I don't care how good of a plumber he is.. He's not worth $500 an hour.. And let's just say for one second that he's the slowest plumber on the planet. And it takes him twice the amount of time it should take.. 2 hours.. That's still $250 an hour labor.. Thanks but no thanks.. I'll do it myself. And If.. Like me.. You don't have money to just throw out the window. And don't like being taken advantage of.. I'd Look elsewhere for a plumber.. read more
