I am sharing my numbers openly because I hope my experience helps someone else choose a company that prices honestly. I had my water heater replaced by Plumbing Care and I could not be happier. I found them through a condo neighbor. Before I called them I had already collected quotes from five other companies for the same job -- a 40/50 gallon power vent gas water heater in a boiler room in my condo. Here is what I was quoted in August 2026: Jazz Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical (Pleasanton): $7,585 for a 50 gallon power vent tank, or $9,235 tankless after a 5% discount. Fast Home Services, through Home Depot: about $2,279 over the phone (Atmospheric (no power vent) 40 gallon model with installation), then $6,602 in writing after the visit. Three other licensed companies: $4,000 to $4,500. Plumbing Care: their standard price is $3,400, and $3,200 only for our complex (the price may vary depending on the model and time). AI search results show that the reasonable price range for the Tri-Valley area is $3,000-$4,500 The price was very competitive and honest price, and more importantly, they really care for their customer. Fernando did the installation and was careful and thorough from start to finish. The job turned out to have several complications nobody had anticipated, and he worked through every one of them without cutting corners and without coming back to me with surprise charges. Honest pricing and careful work is exactly what you want from a plumber, and it is exactly what I got. We called Plumbing Care Inc when our Norvitz tankless water heater went out a week before Christmas and their response vastly exceeded our expectations. It took two plumbers several days to fix our problem because of the incompetence and indifference of the manufacturer, but Max and Georgi stayed with us every minute and owned our problem as if it were their own. Max, especially, spent hours on the phone with Norvitz whose diagnosis of the problem turned out to be completely bogus. He came back twice to try and fix it and even called the company on his day off to try to get them to own up to it, which they didn't. On the third visit, Plumbing Care sent Georgi who quietly went about figuring out what the problem really was, then fixed it with a part he took from a heater that a previous customer, frustrated with Norvitz, had thrown away. I honestly haven't seen service and professionalism like this from a plumbing company in 50 years. They do great plumbing, but more than that, they take good care of their customers. Today, Mitko from Plumbing Care fixed our Rinnai Tankless Water Heater and replaced a faulty part with a new Rinnai part that had been ordered for us. Mitko is very knowledgeable, professional, caring, and helpful. He called us in advance of the home visit. One week ago, Suresh from Plumbing Care tested our Rinnai Tankless Water Heater ignition system and determined the faulty part, which is the first major step to fixing the water heater. My old tankless water heater stopped working and Plumbing Care took care of me. I originally called another company who said they would diagnose the problem for $125 and would credit that back if used to perform job. They got to my house and said something totally different.They wanted $495 an hour to diagnose it, I got rid of them but still had to pay $125 plus credit card fees of $3 since they came out. Plumbing Care came out gave my lots of options all documented and spelled out and they delivered after letting me do research with no pressure. Also they didn't charge me for the first visit since they knew the problem from the control panel. Mitko was the technician who helped me out with all my questions, which I had a lot. After a frustrating experience with unlicensed plumbers my ex-GC brought in, I was relieved to find Keith and Oscar. They did an outstanding job on my nearly 100-year-old house. Keith, who also came out for the estimate, really listened to my concerns and communicated with me throughout the process. He has an engineer-like mind and knows how to handle unexpected situations with ease. They replaced my old valves with new angle stop valves. They also installed a new sump pump safely in a much better location. Their workmanship was excellent, and they left the workspace spotless. From start to finish, I have absolutely no complaints. Our pullout kitchen faucet blew up in my face, spraying water everywhere in a nanosecond! I called Plumbing Care and they had a repairman (Ricardo) here within two hours. After talking things over with Ricardo, I opted to replace the entire faucet, down to and including the shutoff valves. This was not an upsale. That faucet was old, and the valves were leaking badly when we shut the water to the sink down. Long story short, I had a new faucet in place and everything all cleaned up in half a day! Ricardo was great and hung in there when the old faucet was giving him a bad time on the demo. All in all, great, fast and effective service. I had no HOT water this morning Mother's Day 8:00am. I called Plumbing Care Inc. at 8:30 and a very nice gentleman said he could have a technician at my home in Castro Valley between 9-11:00 that morning. Georgi Shterev arrived at 10:20. He was knowledge, polite and an efficient worker. He replaced the gas control valve manifold solving my HOT water issue and when I asked if he could also listen to the sound one of my toilets was making , he did and fixed that too, all in little under an hour. Today was my first time using Plumbing Care and I was so impressed with Carlos and Daniel! They were excellent, very professional, and extremely fast and efficient at unclogging my toilet and replacing my garbage disposal. Carlos answered all of my questions and explained why my disposal broke and why I was unable to clog my toilet on my own. Carlos is very knowledgeable and very helpful! Excellent service. I requested Plumbing Care's help with a small shower leak in the bathroom. While the fix itself was not terribly complicated (replacing a faucet cartridge) it did require turning off the water to multiple units in my section of our apt building. Keith was incredibly efficient in both turning off the building water to my unit, repairing the cartridge, replacing the shower trim parts. (And his expert caulking around the replaced parts was a great finishing touch.) And he managed to do all this in just over an hour's time. Great experience with Plumbing Care. Had two Pex joint leaks in garage coming off water heater. After another company had come out and immediately tried to up-sale me with talk of water heater descaling services and a 4,000$ leak detector, Fernando with Plumbing Care came right out the next day on a Saturday and got right to business on my issue I needed taken care of! Outstanding response time and quality of work. We had a cracked and leaking main service line to our house that required the water to be shut off until repairs were complete. We called Sunday night, a service tech was onsite the following day and the repair was finished and water turned back on by early that afternoon. Price was very reasonable.
