The justification was "toilet parts are old" even though the toilet itself is in great condition. After pushing back they proposed a second option for nearly $500 - this is to spend 30 minutes replacing the valve and flapper with a parts cost of $25 max from Home Depot. The work ended up being completed by a handyman for much less. Needless to say Exodus is never welcome on one of my properties again. The attempt to gouge by including extra scope is plain dishonesty and borderline fraud. I would exercise caution.

I had a feeling the quote was on the higher side, but I trusted that statement and moved forward. Shortly after, I started getting callbacks from other companies like Drain Mob and All American Plumbing and their quotes came in 30-40% lower for the same scope of work. That was frustrating. To be fair, Carlos seems knowledgeable and I don't have any complaints about the quality of the work itself which he deserves 5 stars. However, I do feel misled on the pricing (subtract 1 star) When I brought this up to him, instead of having a professional conversation and addressing the difference by offering to match their prices, he became defensive, raised his voice, and even called me "cheap." That response felt unprofessional and unnecessary (subtracted 2 more stars) Being told your rates are competitive when they're significantly above market and then being treated that way when you question it just doesn't sit right with me. If you're considering this company, I'd strongly recommend getting multiple quotes first so you can make a more informed decision.

OMG! I was getting so overwhelmed by trying to deal with this 1940's plumbing and the drain back…read moreups. I decided it was time to do something about it. I had cleaned up human excrement for the last time! I'll stick with dog poop in the yard, thnk you very much! I had my normal place come out to clear it out, and he told me that he could not get past a large root clump this time. He maybe had weakened it a little so that it will slowly drain, but not cleared. So I went on the mission of how much is this nightmare going to cost me, and EFF homeownership! My estimates started from $1600 all the way up to $28,000 for clearing and lining or repairing/replacing, etc. The whole array of services. So who tf do I believe? After many arguments, err I mean conversations with my husband (who "thinks" he can fix things, ahem), I made an executive decision to start with hydrojetting, and see what we can clear out and what,if any, damage there actually is to repair, and how bad the situation actually is. That's how I came to Drain Mob. Actually, that's a big fat lie. One of the places I had come over for an estimate told me about them. So that's when I called Drain Mob. I set up an appointment, and in the beginning was a little frustrated that my window had passed and the technician still had not shown up. The company was in contact with me and let me know that the job prior was runnung longer. Whatever, I'm just zoning out anyway. Once he showed up, he introduced himself, Caleb. He apologized for the delay and said that the job was a lot more involved than anticipated. I laughed and told him this one would also be. Caleb was AWESOME! After I explained everything I knew to him and everything that had already been done/tried/DIY'd, he explained the procedure to me and got to work. He explained every step as we went along, and described everything we were seeig on the camera. HOLY S&%$ Batman! My drains were horrendous! I have a good amount of large trees and shrubs, and it certainly shows inside them. Also, it was discovered that I still have original 1940's terracotta pipes! WT-actual-F?! He was able to clear all those stupid Holly roots out of the way, and clear it to the city sewer line. Now I have an idea where it runs also. We then went the other way since the cleanouts we were working on were kinda midline. Going the other direction towards the house, it was disovered (again) that there was a cap, and the line had a Y connector. Putting ttwo and two together, this must have been the "root plug" the other guy couldnt get past. Huh. Caleb was able to angle the camera up the Y connection and follow it into the SLUUUUDGE. Herego, kitchen drain. I went inside and started running various faucets until he saw it on the camers so we could see exactly where everything was connecting to the main line. He of course hydrojetted this portion as well. Turns out, the old cast iron clean out and pipes that would flood the backyard that we all thought was the original problem, wasnt the problem at all. That system appears to be a safety backflow to flood the yard instead of the house if there is a back up. As it did. No one had looked into anything else. I just kept being told that replacement or lining the pipes was what needed to be done. Thank you, Caleb! You took the time to explore it all and make sure we knew exactly where and what everything was. The delay was worth it. The time you took to make sure you had everything cleared out was to my own OCD/ADHD standards! If you need your drains cleared of roots, call these guys, and request Caleb (sorry to anyone else I didn't work with)! You might wait a little longer, but you will see why as he spends as much time that is needed to finish the job properly and not in a timeframe. Give this guy a raise! And he loved on my dog, who wanted to be his friend- bonus points!

Their cleanup is spotless. They provide good explanations for all of their recommendations and repair methods. They solve difficult problems with sewer lines, especially cast-iron pipe lines in most homes over 40 years old. Relining the cast iron pipe before it leaks avoids the significant expense of replacing it when it is under the slab of your home. They are lined with a fiberglass sleeve that guarantees the pipe for an additional 20 years. It also replaces the cast iron pipe's jagged, rough surface with a smooth liner that reduces the risk of future clogging. They camera the pipe to identify all problem areas. They also re-camera the pipe after the sleeving to document that the repair has been completed satisfactorily. You get a copy of both videos. It has been a pleasure to work with them on the 3 relining jobs we did together. It's always hard to find good contractors when you move to a new city, but we certainly lucked out when we called Plumbing Tree. They had me text a picture of one of our fixtures so they would know what they were dealing with. Then Freddy called me the day before our appointment to make sure he had the correct parts and that the standard diverter they used would be okay with us. Miguel and Andy were right on time. It turned out that one of the jobs we needed completed required them to cut out a small piece of drywall. Miguel explained very clearly what needed to be done, how long it would take, and how much it would cost. While he worked on that, Andy worked on the diverter in our tub. They completed their work more quickly than expected, and it actually cost less than they quoted. Miguel also completed his repair in such a way that if we ever needed another repair on the washer water hookup, it wouldn't require removing the drywall again. He cut the smallest hole possible, and my husband was able to easily patch it up. We will definitely be calling Plumbing Tree next time we need a plumber. We were extremely pleased with their communication, work, and pricing. read more

Late afternoon on Friday November 21, after I took a shower, the faucet would not turn off -- There was a steady stream of water. After getting a recommendation, I phoned Plumbing Tree. Miguel listened to my somewhat frantic story, asked appropriate questions, and made an appointment for Saturday morning. Just as promised, Fernando arrived on time and got to work immediately replacing the Moen faucet, all the while patiently teaching and explaining the process to his apprentice, Mikey. Both Fernando and Mikey demonstrated professionalism and took care to wear masks and put on booties before entering my home. While he was there, Fernando recommended that I replace the 61 year-old shut-off valve outside my home. Of course, I will call Plumbing Tree for an estimate on that job and know that it will be done professionally and correctly. Plumbing Tree is a company you can rely on. Have used them in the past and they saved me again a few weeks ago when the master toilet was leaking and making noises. I only expected they would replace the inside parts of the tank. But by removing the toilet they found that the contractor that had removed the toilet top put new flooring in my bathroom had cracked the side of the tank, the flange was not seated correctly and the bolts were not done properly. If they were not so thorough, the trouble would have continued. Freddy is an involved owner and more than helpful and understanding. Only reason I withheld 1 star was that the scheduler, the phone system, and the appointments kept changing, BUT I know that was due to this ;pandemic that has everything messed up. read more

I am a first time restaurant owner and had my first plumbing issue. I was referred to Freddie and his crew and do not regret calling them. Everything was affordable, convenient and simple. Estimate was given through the phone, i just had to take a picture of my leak. Easy to talk to and really knowledgable. If our leakage could not be resolved they provided me with other options that we could do to take care of the problem. As we talked I mentioned that the restaurant had old equipment/pipes/fixtures. I had a terrible problem which was discovered in the crawl space under my house. Main sewer line was eaten away and I had feces and toilet paper lying on the ground when we discovered the problem. Freddie, the owner of The Plumbing Tree, was a god-send He gave us an estimate lower than others, and was there with Carlos and Miquel in our emergency situation. It was a big job but they worked late so we would have a working toilet over-night. It took a couple of days and lots of crawling on their stomachs in the crawl space, but they were always cheerful and polite, I will never use any other plumber! We came home from our vacation to a leaky water heater, needless to say not the way you want to return home from vacation. Called Plumbing Tree at 9PM, Freddy picked up and helped answer our questions even though he was enjoying his evening at a Padres game. He had Jerry (Jedi Plumber) and Miguel out by 11AM the next morning with a new water heater. Needed emergency fixed fast (leaking outside faucet which needed a new one sweated on). My ususal guy was not available. Contacted Plumbing Tree on a referral. This was my first official real plumbing experience as a homeowner. I tried everything myself (snake, drano, etc). We could not get the kitchen sink to work. Jerry came by and saved the day! 2 snakes and 60 feet later, we heard the wonderful sounds of running water through the pipes. Love Freddy!! Called him early Saturday Morning as our downstairs hallway and bathroom were flooded. Freddy came within an hour and a half, quickly got to work, explained everything he was doing - each time he walked into the house he put booties (shoe coverings) on, covered the snake machine so it would not get all over. Every mom needs Plumbing Tree on speed dial. I have a 4 year old son who thinks it's hilarious to was up big pieces of toilet paper and flush it. I called Plumbing Tree in the late afternoon and within a couple hours, Gilbert was there working his magic. I called Plumbing Tree after a Google search for my water heater gushing out water from the top. Within half an hour the technician Mickey was here. He was so friendly and honest! Just a quick note. I needed to have my kitchen sink replaced, and I contacted Plumbing Tree. Steven was prompt, right on time.He was honest. The house was built in 1958, and needed some upgrades. Steven laid out a plan to bring it all up to code. He used a camera to show me the old cast iron lateral line to main. We went over options to take care of a few problems. I went with an epoxy liner. Trustworthy plumbing came to the rescue when another plumbing company was not only doing a poor job…read moreof lining my sewer pipes, but had damaged my main water line. Jay came through the same day to fix that main water line and explained how Trustworthy could line every bit of my sewer line with inversion pipe lining vs pull through which is limited to access points. The pull through method would not be able to line the entire cast iron pipe under my bathrooms, which was the whole point as they were in poor condition and had root intrusion. I parted ways with the other company and signed onto Trustworthy the next day. Jay and Scott have gone above and beyond, installing the best materials and doing an expert job of prepping my old cast iron sewer cleanouts (two) that would have been impossible to line past those points without removing them and replacing those sections with PVC pipe and new cleanouts instead. When they jackhammered through the concrete of my front porch to get to the old cleanout at the front of the house, they proactively replaced the main water line in addition to removing the old cleanout and replacing it with PVC. The pipe liners lined everything in one day, getting all of both bathrooms and the tie ins (sinks, toilets and tubs) under the foundation. Nothing especially serious found he suggested having a moisture remediation company investigate. They also thankfully found no critical issues but suggested replacing aged disposal and some of the under sink plumbing and water lines. Scott again quickly returned in an evening and got it done. If we continue to experience any issues the remediation company will complete some specialized treatment. Scott is a super friendly, knowledgeable and caring professional that obviously loves his work. Highly recommended!

The pricing was mid-range. According to AI, they were in the mid-range of what to expect in San Diego ($295 for a camera inspection of sewer lines from house to city sewer main). First, they had an easy reservation system for online booking, I received a personal check in to confirm the appointment, they sent me a text to notify me when my technician Roby was on the way (and even included a photo so I knew who to expect at my door, which is much appreciated)! Just all around great communication and prompt responses from their office. Next, my technician Roby was so kind, knowledgeable and efficient. I appreciated that he was not only able to identify the problem quickly, but he explained what might have contributed to my garbage disposal needing replacement to avoid recurring issues in the future. While he was here, he also quickly fixed my toilet and even went above and beyond and helped me install my toilet seat when he saw that I had a new one sitting in the box in the corner of my bathroom! Really excellent customer service. And finally I also appreciate that he didn't try to upsell me or convince me that everything in my house needed replacing.
