I'm giving Plumbsmart a 1-star rating due to a poor experience in their meeting the price agreed on during the phone call to schedule the locate and mark appointment at 645 Morningview, a rental property. When I called on March 5 to get a quote for video-camera inspection, I made it very clear that I needed the video inspection to meet SAWS requirements for performing work on the SAWS side (laterals program). The specified work would include marking the surface above the problem area(s), describing the problem location on the invoice, and providing email copies of photos taken. I explained the above info to the lady who schedules the Plumbsmart service appointments and provides initial pricing info. I also explained that I had already located the main problem area at the junction where the main line meets the SAWS lateral connector line. It will likely be a SAWS responsibility to repair, as it is right at the curb where the two lines meet. I informed her I had already cleared the line and measured the location and taken photos with my personal drain line camera. However, SAWS requires a licensed plumber for their laterals repair program. Two stoppages have occurred at the problem spot in the last two weeks due to a partial obstruction and dislocation of the connector joint. The lady I spoke with, who sounded mature and experienced, quoted a cost of $199.00 at the time of scheduling. She said nothing to indicate that the $199 covered inspection only or that the "locate and mark" service would be an additional cost. After confirming the quote for $199.00, I scheduled a service appointment with her for 3-5 p.m. on March 6. I left my mobile number and was told I would receive a call around 30 minutes before the technician's arrival. To my knowledge I never received a call from the Plumbsmart technician, however, I went to the property assuming they would likely arrive. At about 4:30 PM on March 6, a Plumbsmart service truck arrived with two technicians. They immediately informed me that the $199.00 amount covers only the camera inspection, and that the locate and mark service would be $495.00. I told them I never agreed to that; I had been crystal clear with the lady who quoted $199.00. The senior technician then made a call to their office and reported to me that his "Sales Manager" now offered a price of $450.00. I told them I did not and would not agree to that and that this appears to be a "bait and switch" tactic. No agreement was reached, so the technicians left. While there's no proof of what led to the misunderstanding, I don't believe it's likely the price switching was accidental. I consider it most likely a bait-and-switch sales tactic that some customers will fall for, especially if they are in the midst of a mail line stoppage, which I wasn't. I recommend anyone who's considering hiring Plumbsmart use due diligence to pin down costs to the extent possible in advance, and to have the costs confirmed with a senior manager at Plumbsmart. Of course, many costs can't be specified in advance due to the unknown scope of work, but pin down the basics if you can. I called over 6-7 plumber companies before I called PlumSmart. I had 1 bathroom in the house and my toilet was in dire need to be re-set. I spoke with Cody, and he was patient with me. He called back when he said he would and when he couldn't find any available techs, due to the fact they were all still on a job - oh, btw, this was at 9:00pm at night. Cody and Adam were willing to come out that night to work on my toilet. After talking to him, his professionalism calmed me down and we setup an appointment for the following day. Which they were right on time. Cody explained every single step that they were going to take all up to the worse case scenario- which I LOVED, it left no room for surprises. The job took longer, it wasn't a easy fix, but they did every single thing they could do to keep the price down and was able to save my toilet and got everything functioning again. A few days later, they sent one of their workers back out to work on my shower, again this gentleman was polite, explained everything before doing it and left the bathroom clean after his work. Another pleasant experience. These gentlemen demonstrated the true meaning of customer service. Saws smart meter informed me I had a water leak on my property. I found the leak and contacted my insurance company. The plumbers my insurance company sent said it be wouldn't be covered because it was in my front flower bed outside the house. The plumbers gave me an out of pocket quote but where horribly rude. Got an urgent Plumbing problem...call PlumbSmart and ask for Roger! Lost water to my Condo unit on Sunday and called around for same day service. Unable to get someone out to me same day, but PlumbSmart was the first to respond on Monday morning. Technician (Ryan) was dispatched and quickly found the issue to be a failed Pressure Regulation Value (PRV). Ryan handed me off to Roger Morin (Operations Manager) and Roger took over from there. Explained the issue and the solution along with the pricing, provided me a written quote within the hour. Roger provided us his direct cell phone number and helped us deal with the Condo Home Owners Association and City of San Antonio (SAWS) for Main Water Shutoff to complete the repair and he even made sure to repair the street they cut into to access the pipes...this helped avoid additional costs with the HOA. This was a complex job that took a lot of coordination, but with Roger's help in presenting options and his quick response, water was restored to my unit and the community the next day on Tuesday. I HIGHLY recommend PlumbSmart for any of your plumbing needs. The CEO, Cody Blackmon, personally ensured that I was happy with the work. I had a leak from one of my hose bibs and he made sure it was taken care of. I was shocked when he was done in such a short amount of time! He even hooked my pool's auto fill back up to keep my pool running smoothly. He also checked the softness of my water since the pipe (connection?) to the hose bib showed tons of deposits from hard water. I've seen Culligan come in (not to my current home but in the past) and claim I had very hard water when in fact I did not. Had PlumbSmart come out to the house on Friday to look at my water softener. After discussion with the guys I decided to get a whole new water softener with a refiner. That was Friday, Monday Herman and Devon showed up to install the new system. In the process of doing that they noticed the PRV out by the street had a tiny leak. So what did they do? They replaced it the same day to make sure there were no potential issues down the line. They were even still all smiles after having to go back to their warehouse twice to get parts. I contacted PlumbSmart to get information on a new water softener system. Two plumbers, Herman and Devon, came to our home on 3/15/2024 to discuss options and give us an estimate. They arrived on time and were extremely friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, professional. They took the time to explain all of the various options and we decided to go with the PN9C-Silver system. Herman and Devon returned on 3/18/2024 to install the new system. From the moment they arrived, they worked continuously with only one short lunch break to install the new softener system. They also fixed a leak that Devon discovered on the main pressure relief valve/regulator. Our electric water heater began leaking into the drip pan PlumbSmart called me right back and Cody explain to me the options of replacing it and he worked it out so that he could get a repair and a new water heater to us the same day. Roger came with the water heater and at the same time we chose to replace our water softener. The plumber Matt did a great job hooking up the water heater that day and we had hot water immediately. Two days later they returned with a new water softener and installed a whole house shut off valve and the softener. They hauled away the old water heater and softener and all is working really well. Good company. Was able to get ahold of them on a Sunday after my hot water heater started leaking. Very responsive team- they were out Monday morning. They surveyed the space about an hour beforehand to insure that the install tech was prepared for everything that might be required and gave a detailed consultation on water softening solutions that I had inquired about. Worth every penny. Half the cost of Jon Wane. Called at 08:00 and had a new water heater ready to go same day at 18:00. Great customer service, no runaround. They used all new connections and tried their best for the best price (I got the commercial grade 50gal) Roger got rained soaked delivering the equipment (Sorry Roger you are a trooper) and didn't blink an eye. We had to replace a water heater. Roger and his technicians were easy to reach. They were quite responsive to our calls and requests even on the weekends when everything schedules itself to break, so their availability is key. Old water heater, old house, so the makeshift closet it was in was too small for a current day replacement.
