This has easily become one of my favourite brunch places in OC! They have a huge variety of both sweet and savoury! I recommend getting a reservation because the wait time can get really long. I got the plum dutch baby, which was super big and good. I recommend getting berries with it, that was my mistake. Their fries and garlic dipping sauce was so good! The interior is amazing as well, a cute place to talk with your friends or go on a date. Our waiter was very attentive. She made sure our water was filled. We were so excited to try! We got the nutter coffee, dirty chai, crab omelette, steak and eggs, and the blueberry lemon pancakes. Let's start from the beginning. Our water glasses had lipstick stains on them that we could wipe off.. gross Dirty chai was pretty good, nutter coffee was tasty but total rip off! It came in a glass and had the biggest block of ice in it. I took it out and was left with literally 4 sips. I paid 9 dollars for a giant ice cube. Ripoff. Steak and eggs was delicious I loved how the steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Potatoes were delicious! Crab omelette was balanced so perfectly with flavour and the potion was great! Would highly recommend:) We never got our pancakes.. our server also never checked in on us so we couldn't let her know that they were forgotten. Maybe we were just in our heads but she checked in and was attentive to every other table but ours... All in all good food but didn't get the same experience all these other high reviews got... bummer hopefully next time will be better. read more

First time and Plums, and they are super packed for brunch. Service was a little slow because of how busy it was. It's a good place for couples or a catch up with friends thought! The restaurant feels pretty small and cramped, so maybe request outside seating if that's more within your comfort levels. We loved the coconut French toast-- it was the star of brunch. It was perfectly crispy outside with the coconut flakes and paired well with the syrup and bananas. The strawberries and papaya (?) were sour though, and I wasn't a fan. We were recommended the smoked salmon Benedict and were extremely disappointed. The salmon was not smoked. It was pretty much cooked thoroughly. I've had smoked salmon Benedict before, but this didn't hit the mark. It was very underwhelming. I would come here again to try the sweet brunch items for sure. read more

Terrific food and top notch service here at this Eastside Costa Mesa Gem. Parking may be a bit tough, but there are plenty of spots in the back of the center. Breakfast and Lunch items all day. Based on a suggestion by my lunchtime guest, I got an egg/bacon dish (photo below) that was great! Be fair warned, it does have a garlic kick to it, but hey, you only go around once, right? The other party ordered a complex choice of omelet ingredients, all of which were cooked perfectly. Different waitresses stopped by for water refill and clear the plates so table was always clean. We ordered the eggs Benedict and the Dutch Baby pancake. This place is quite cozy and cute. I came here for the yummy breakfast that I've been hearing about. The only real complaint I have is that they don't refill the hot chocolate and it seems like a lot of places are getting that way. They also don't have iced coffee which kinda sucked. It's fluffy and not soggy. Tip is to come early in the day, it gets packed and you'll have to wait for longer than usual if you come later in the day. There are outside sitting and bar sitting too. This restaurant is located in the corner of a little strip mall in Costa Mesa, right next to a gym which I think is really messed up but whatever, it is what it is. We sat outside because it was really packed, I mean it was a Saturday morning so we expected it to be busy. Service did take a while to get to us, other people that got there after us were attended to much fast which was annoying. Their food was nothing special, simple breakfast options and their signature dish, the Dutch Baby, was just too big and I chose not to order that. Instead I went with simple boring breakfast and that is what I got, simple boring flavors. Again, their food wasn't bad, but then again wasn't great either, I don't think I'll be back any time soon as nothing about the restaurant was memorable and the service was very slow even for a busy Saturday morning. read more

Let me tell you our server, Liz, was awesome! We had questions and she had all the answers and even offered things like, "would you like your potatoes crispy?" Sounds easy but it's the little things that matter. We had 2orders of the Oregon trail with peppered bacon. My friend's blueberry lemon curd pancakes rocked her world. I didn't love the pancakes but everything else was cooked to perfection. The ambiance is modern and well done. The bathroom was beautiful and clean. Our food was served hot and quickly. Called to make a reservation for my sister's birthday days before since it was gonna be a large party of about 14 and was told an authorization form needed to be filled out, great nothing different from any other reservation I've made. When we arrived (WAY EARLIER THAN OUR RESERVATION TIME) to see if we could be seated before they said ok yeah we have you here only off name never confirming how many in the party (even though you could clearly see us walking up with a large party) or anything and when our buzzer went off saying our table was ready we went over only for them to try to seat us a party of 14 at a table for 2. For them to in turn tell me they never got the form my reservation was canceled they "ASSumed it was the reservation for 2" (direct quote from the hostess) we were checking in for and when we asked why couldn't we be seated in a large table that was being cleared since we had at that point been waiting for 40 minutes they said no they couldn't seat us there because other people have been waiting to be seated and that we would have to wait another almost 2 hours before they could seat out party. Needless to say we didn't dine here and had an amazing wonderful dining experience and Playa Mesa down the street. 0/10 don't recommend the staff was rude and unprofessional with the whole situation. read more

Plums is popular and is always busy on the weekends. Been here maybe five times and each time the food and service do not disappoint. Always love their pancakes as well as their beverages. This time I got their Plums Biscuits and Gravy as well as their Hazelnut pancakes. Both were exceptional and filling. Very well made and fresh. Disappointing 4 breakfast items sadly. The service is attentive and friendly, but the quality of the breakfast items was subpar.

I don't think I have ever felt so inclined to write a review before. Things started ok, our initial server, Page, was friendly - but we only saw her twice - once while taking our order and once to check in and bring toast that was forgotten. Aside from that, one other server came to being our food - didn't say a word just placed the plates down - he only returned to give us the check - again just placed it on the table and left; mind you, it was a Friday morning and not super busy. Initially I thought it was an 'us' thing because we were tucked away in a corner, but the table next to us was also struggling to get anyone's attention to place an order. We got the bill and sure enough they charged us for something that was never brought out - I was waiting for someone to come back so they could remove it from the bill but waited 10 minutes before anyone even turned to look our way and even then I had to raise my hand to get her attention. I understand costs for everything is through the roof right now but paying $80+ for breakfast for two seems like a tough pill to swallow - especially when the service is terrible. Not sure how this place has such great reviews - either we went on an off day or basic customer service skills are now extinct. She named off sausage, cheese and the usual ingredients, which didnt ANSWER ANYTHING. The place seemed okay, quite crowded on Veteran's day. Seems like the company failed to account for it and did not schedule enough people. Irish coffee was bad, far too much alcohol compared to the coffee, also there was hazelnut sprinkled on top for some reason? Had the salmon benedict which was pretty good, the potatoes on the side was barely seasoned. All the food my companions had were also pretty good. The main issue at this place is service being bad and their menu being too vague or has no information about certain entrees. Don't advertise a build your own and fail to list the ingredients. Dont advertise the crostini and say a choice of 3 and have bullet points of groupings of ingredients, which your server also failed to elaborate on that we gave up on it. read more

I saw Plums Cafe featured on a reel on instagram. One look at that Dutch Baby and I was speed dialing my brunch bestie for a date here! We came on a Thursday around lunch time. Plums is located in a super cute strip mall with lots of gift shops and has limited parking in my opinion. I had to park in the connected parking lot on the other side. It's fine, just something to consider. I sure parking is worse on weekends. I had a noon reservation and was promptly seated inside at a tall table near the bar. Our server suggested the hazelnut latte and it was definitely the right call. It was absolutely delicious, presented with chopped hazelnuts in the foam. Just beautiful. My friend ordered one of their breakfast sandwiches- a croissant stuffed with sausage, scrambled eggs, and melty cheesy. She devoured it. I had the lemon-blueberry pancake breakfast with bacon and eggs on the side. The presentation of both of the entrees was artful. I wanted to order the dutch baby, but it takes 30 minutes and since I was on my lunch hour, I couldn't do it. But I will definitely order it when time isn't an issue. Plums is definitely a 10 out of 10! The restaurant itself is lovely- modern, airy and upscale. The service could have been more prompt, but the place was busy and there was only one server for the inside. The food was amazing and I saw at least three other dishes I want to try. If you find yourself in the vicinity of this alluring cafe- you should absolutely drop by, sit by the window for top their people watching and enjoy the hazelnut latte or a cocktail from their tempting bar menu! In retrospect, coming on my lunch hour wasn't the best move, but at least there are plenty of reasons to return! read more

You would never imagine such a beautiful place is in a tiny little plaza. Gorgeous inside, very professional staff, excellent food, great vibe, great people.
