Plush pup has always been one of my favorite restaurants to go to. It is more on the pricey side however once in a while it's so worth it! Some of my favorite things to get from here are the chicken kabob plate, chicken on pita Greek style, and Greek salad. The chicken kabob plate is very filling and could probably be split with two people as it comes with rice and two kabob sticks! The chicken on pita Greek style has been my new favorite meal. This is an average diner. It's a hit or miss with the orders that we've had here. I would really love to give it 4 stars because the workers are really nice and friendly but because of inconsistency it will be less one. The spouse loves the pork kebab plate here, yes even they're inconsistent with the flavor, if they get it right the kebab is really good. But sometimes the meat is just dry (over cooked) and lacks flavor, while the rice pilaf is doused with so much oil and vinegar; I'm not sure if it's from the small salad that is included in it. We've tried their gyro, bacon cheese burger and cheese burger. Nothing wowed us but their portions are big. I say the gyro pretty is good. The burger patties need flavor and again they were a little over cooked, they were dry inside. The one thing they don't mess up here is their coleslaw, it's better than Popeye's or KFC. read more

I've been coming to this place for about 10 years now and have never had an issue with the food or service. I always get the chicken kabob plate or gyros. I saw someone complain about the Greek dressing they put on the kabobs.. (olive oil, lemon juice, spices etc..) it is hands down the best thing to marinate your chicken with if you like Greek chicken. I love it so much I actually get extra on the side. I guess it's just personal preference. I also see lots of negative review about the prices here.. I'd like to share with you negative Nancy's, that there is a McDonald's down the street on Cumberland and Lawrence where you can find yourself $1 hamburgers. Anyway. We like this place. Born and raised Chicago native over here--love this place. I live less than a mile away and eat here often. It's my go-to for a diner with Greek food. The owner is always super friendly and they are quick, efficient, and fresh. My favorites are the chicken kebob plate with Greek potatoes, gyros salad, cheeseburger, and cheese fries. I came in this restaurant and ordered a gyro sandwich plain with sauce on the side. 3 Cooks everybody listening to me but they happen to be Spanish must not understood me they put tomatoes and onions on my sandwich I return the sandwich told them that it was supposed to be playing their way of correcting it was to throw the meat back on the grill picking out the tomato and onion changing my pita bread and re serving me the same meat that I just sent back... when I noticed this and confronted them at first they denied it then they acknowledge that that's what they did and attempted to give me a refund I was so upset and aggravated I had to walk out of the restaurant without collecting my money this place definitely needs an overhaul definitely is overpriced excessively for the quality of food and should have the health inspector in there read more

This is Quintessential Chicago: A divey diner that serves just about anything you can think of. And no, it's NOT Portillo's, and I'm glad it's not because Plush Pups Greek Salad with a Chicken Breast on top is AWESOME and far better than the chicken cesare from Portillos! Plus, they have their own Home made dressing for the Greek Salad and they serve the BEST FETA you can buy as well as real greek olives! FAR BETTER THAN ANY SALAD FROM PORTILLOS - now that I made that point again for the 2nd time........They also serve many baked chicken dishes or Chicken Kabobs with rice, Pitas and vegetable sides - a much better tasting selection and healthier than Portillo's. They serve two chicken skewers with a pita and rice pilaf. I grew up next to this Plush Pup 25 years ago when it was a tiny dive with fantastic Chicago-style hot dogs (who ever thought of putting celery salt on a hot dog?!), and it is still cranking out some TASTY diner food - try the chicken wings, they're crispy, plump, and juicy and I could eat then by the bucket. Plush Pup is a little pricey for simple, traditional american food, but everything I had was good. Chicken Philly was huge and a mouth full. It came with a small order of fries. Also tried the fish sandwich. It was very neatly put together and overall good. This place a convient stop to grab a bite before going on a flight at O'hare airport. I got dragged here by somebody who used to work in the area and eat lunch here. It's a totally no-frills plastic-cafeteria-chairs kind of joint which is OK once in a while. Good things: I like hot dogs, though I'm not really ready to have one with cucumbers on it, but they did leave those off for me. Char-grilling a dog is a nice idea. The fries are good and service was pretty quick - if something takes longer they bring it to your table. Meh things: The hot dogs are kind of small/ thin and drown in their buns and toppings. If you really want to eat a Hot Dog I suppose you have to order the larger Polish Dogs. My food was served so hot that I literally was still having a problem eating the fried mushrooms 15 minutes later. Not real fun to have to wait a significant time for food to cool so you can eat when you're hungry and on a tight schedule. The place is kind of grubby and hard to eat in if you're wearing nice work clothes rather than a pair of old ripped jeans. Finally, there's simply too dern much stuff on the menu. Does anybody really want to eat a "Philly cheese steak" in Chicago? I suppose someone does, but not me.
