I am writing this review to express my absolute poor and racist experience at this establishment by their female cashier/waitress (female with blonde hair and heavy European accent) & the owner. My husband & I (both male) arrive and place our order. We proceed to pay.. almost $45 later (our total) and have a seat outside. It was a bit windy so we decided to go back inside. We have a seat in their inside dine in area as the restaurant is empty. An older couple walks in and places their order. They have a seat and a few minutes later they are served first from this cashier/waitress.. keep in mind we ordered several minutes before them. We figured ok they are an elderly couple so it's fine. Next comes in a teenager and his friend.. they place their order and as they are just standing there... I'm waved down by the waitress/cashier that my food was ready. Being that this is not the first we have ate here before.. and seeing many times where they bring you your food to the table it surprised me. Fine.. I pick up my food but feeling annoyed. We are eating our food and here comes by the waitress with the teenagers food going to serve them. So teenagers + elderly couple get served to their table but we had to pick up our food. Clearly it was because either we were Latino or a Gay Couple but at the end of the day this is not how you treat paying customers. And to top it off when we complained to the owner he defended her saying she was busy.. which is complete bullshit because she was not..but it goes to show the type of business this establishment is.. we have been going here for many years but never again. I was there today and had no issues as described in other reviews. My friend was with me and had a large order - 3 kids and her partner was with her. They delivered her order perfectly. I had a simple order as I was with one child. My chicken Caesar on a pita was perfect. Fries were hot and crispy - pink lemonade was pink and perfect! The owner did not look happy so I went out of my way to be happy and kind and -- imagine this -- he responded the same way. My friends kids inhaled their food. There wasn't one fry left behind. The place was tidy and ready for business. But we were there early when it opened. My only negative was the somewhat high cost but I get it- the quality was very good - fresh lettuce tomato pita and quality chicken - and it keeps out the riff raff that can get on a train and panhandle a few dollars. Plush pup has always been one of my favorite restaurants to go to. It is more on the pricey side however once in a while it's so worth it! Some of my favorite things to get from here are the chicken kabob plate, chicken on pita Greek style, and Greek salad. The chicken kabob plate is very filling and could probably be split with two people as it comes with rice and two kabob sticks! The chicken on pita Greek style has been my new favorite meal. This is an average diner. It's a hit or miss with the orders that we've had here. I would really love to give it 4 stars because the workers are really nice and friendly but because of inconsistency it will be less one. The spouse loves the pork kebab plate here, yes even they're inconsistent with the flavor, if they get it right the kebab is really good. But sometimes the meat is just dry (over cooked) and lacks flavor, while the rice pilaf is doused with so much oil and vinegar; I'm not sure if it's from the small salad that is included in it. We've tried their gyro, bacon cheese burger and cheese burger. Nothing wowed us but their portions are big. I say the gyro pretty is good. The burger patties need flavor and again they were a little over cooked, they were dry inside. The one thing they don't mess up here is their coleslaw, it's better than Popeye's or KFC. read more

I've been coming to this place for about 10 years now and have never had an issue with the food or service. I always get the chicken kabob plate or gyros. I saw someone complain about the Greek dressing they put on the kabobs.. (olive oil, lemon juice, spices etc..) it is hands down the best thing to marinate your chicken with if you like Greek chicken. I love it so much I actually get extra on the side. I guess it's just personal preference. I also see lots of negative review about the prices here.. I'd like to share with you negative Nancy's, that there is a McDonald's down the street on Cumberland and Lawrence where you can find yourself $1 hamburgers. Anyway. We like this place. Born and raised Chicago native over here--love this place. I live less than a mile away and eat here often. It's my go-to for a diner with Greek food. The owner is always super friendly and they are quick, efficient, and fresh. My favorites are the chicken kebob plate with Greek potatoes, gyros salad, cheeseburger, and cheese fries. And no, it's NOT Portillo's, and I'm glad it's not because Plush Pups Greek Salad with a Chicken Breast on top is AWESOME and far better than the chicken cesare from Portillos! Plus, they have their own Home made dressing for the Greek Salad and they serve the BEST FETA you can buy as well as real greek olives! I grew up next to this Plush Pup 25 years ago when it was a tiny dive with fantastic Chicago-style hot dogs (who ever thought of putting celery salt on a hot dog?!), and it is still cranking out some TASTY diner food - try the chicken wings, they're crispy, plump, and juicy and I could eat then by the bucket. Plush Pup is a little pricey for simple, traditional american food, but everything I had was good. Chicken Philly was huge and a mouth full. It came with a small order of fries. Also tried the fish sandwich. It was very neatly put together and overall good. This place a convient stop to grab a bite before going on a flight at O'hare airport.
