What we got and shared: Tin roof tacos (w/ chicken) dinner with a side of chipotle sauce. Carnitas tacos dinner. Queso blanco The building itself was smaller than I expected and since it was a nice day, we chose to sit outside. It's not exactly in a gorgeous location... it's right on Main Street in Frankenmuth, and there was some road work being done at the time. Alright the tin roof tacos... ridiculously good. The fried tortilla was awesome, the chicken was juicy deliciousness, and the chipotle sauce only upped it. The carnitas tacos were decent. Not much to say about them other than I probably wouldn't get them again. They'd be better off in the fried taco shell, but for some reason Poblano's won't do tin roof tacos with carnitas. It's just really messy eating them with a regular flour tortilla, and the flavor isn't great either. Meh. Queso blanco was super tasty, but the price is just stuuupid. $4.49 for chips and like 3/4 of a cup to a single cup of cheese? I'd still recommend getting it though because it was chock full of noms. The beans at Poblano's are some of the worst I've had, but still edible. It's just that they were completely void of any flavor. The rice was mediocre, but rice is easy to fix with a little bit of salsa. Which reminds me... the chips and salsa at Poblano's are great as well. Unsalted chips are a plus for me, and the salsa was obviously made in-house and it showed. I'd love to revisit Poblano's in the future. Tin roof tacos (at least with chicken) are incredible, the queso blanco is great, and the chips and salsa are well above average. The rice and beans are "eh" and I wouldn't get the carnitas again, but Poblano's is a place that's easy to recommend if you want Mexican food and are in or around Frankenmuth. *I've decided to up this to five stars after three more visits... really a fantastic option in Frankenmuth. The evening was great.. We showed up with a group of 10 and Olyssa was wonderful. Food was great.

just waited an hour to receive our food after waiting 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken. the waitress only came back once to check on use before our food came and never after the food came. the tables around us that arrives after us finished eating before our food came then had to send someone to go get cash because their register was down. Won't be going back there again. Ever since they moved to the new building their garbage. Alejandro's on holland in Saginaw will be my go to. read more

This is a decent option if you're in Frankenmuth and not feeling fried chicken. I already know what to expect ordering a vegetarian meal at a Tex Mex restaurant and that is basically salad tacos with rice and beans. Either that or pepper and onion fajitas. The tacos were like any other salad tacos but the rice and beans were sadly bland. The margarita, however, had a generous pour of tequila and tasted pretty good. And we ended up sharing a plate of queso fries which turned out to be the best dish we got. Service was quick and plates were hot, as it usually is in places like this. I was going to give another star but it was such a shame about the under-seasoned beans and rice. I don't want the cook to go crazy with cumin or anything like that; just a pinch more salt would have helped loads. read more

Awesome drinks and drink prices...crazt $2 beers thr most expensive beer is 3.75 i had the classic margarita was so tasty and was a good pour of tequila...for lunch i had the mexicali burrito it was also good, and filling. The steak was a little dry but mixed with all the other ingredients it hit the spot. Kids meals were good as well as well as priced right. Our waiter was good as well he recommended some good items to eat. The kitchen was very friendly with mt children as well rosita came out and gave chile beads to my kids which helped them wait for our food...ill definetel2 be back! read more

We waited 10 mins for them to take a drink order and give us menus, 10 more minutes to get our drinks (and it was just water), and then another 30 mins for our food. Not the fault of the staff, they had only two waitresses to seat people, make drinks, take orders, deliver food, and clean tables. The food was actually very good so I would give them more stars if they hired more people and had better service. I got the fajita tacos and they were actually delicious. I was already full on eating two baskets of chips during the wait... oh well! read more

In a town known for German food, I guess it's about as good as Mexican could get. Maybe we're spoiled with really good Mexican at home, but this is decidedly average. It's not much above (if at all) Taco Bell. If they had a liquor license maybe they would have gotten a higher rating. The el Diablo(spicy) sauce? I'm hoping that they gave me the wrong thing. I was asked "do you want it on top or the side?" On top was my answer and it was on the side. Attention to detail is important. The beans and rice were directly out of the can/bag from the grocery store. Not in any way authentic. My burrito was missing ingredients on the description. Nothing was seasoned very well. Like, get a packet of old El Paso and at least try. It was a nice break from all the pretzels and schnitzel. Way way better than the horrible bbq place next door. read more

My wife and I tried this place last night. First - the good - great service! Great chips and salsa. It was all down hill after that though..... my wife ordered the tortilla soup and found it to be cold and not good. She also ordered a chicken enchilada, which she liked the taste of but had to send it back after one bite because it was too cold. I ordered the 3 enchilada meal - 2 cheese and 1 beef. In short, my meal tasted like a frozen TV dinner. It was very bland and got cold very quickly after arriving at our table. Now, my caveat to this is that I am from South Texas and I expect WAY better Mexican or Tex-Mex food than this. So, that having been said, I think next time we will continue our pursuit of good Mexican food in Michigan elsewhere. read more

Went here with my brother and his family excited about trying a new Mexican place. The restaurant is set up in a smaller old house, so there is a very small capacity, can hold only about 20 diners. So the expectation would be that they could have really fast service, but not so much. We were there for approximately an hour. All we got in that hour were one round of drinks, and the chips and salsa. Finally our food came and it was cold, not lukewarm but cold. I don't know what the staff was doing back there in the kitchen during that hour, but fulfilling the purposes of a restaurant were definitely not on the list. (Keep in mind there were only 12 other people in the restaurant, and they aren't getting their food either!).We left without eating the food, we felt insulted that they would have us waste our time waiting for bad food. read more

This is one of many spots I have to go to when I am in town! I love any of the tacos I have tried! I mix the hot and mild salsa to make it perfect for me :). I am grateful that when I am there, the drinks are good and the service may be a little slow, but they work hard with short staff. First off, my first time here. I usually only really dine at one place in frankenmuth, but we decided to switch it up. Typically it's the first choice, when driving through. So I drive past this place and hit up a usual favorite spot. We go inside and the inside dining is SMALL.... But it's ok. They have outside seating available. It was hot and we would have preferred indoor dining but it wasn't a deal breaker. We ordered up a couple drinks. A strawberry daiquiri for my girl, and a lime margarita for myself. Both drinks were excellent, tangy, and tasty! Seemed to be pretty generous with the tequila in my drink. They offer free chips and salsa when you're dining. The chips were too thick and hard for my liking, but the salsa is great. Nice and fresh. We both ordered the chimichanga and the queso sauce, which by the way, is insane! Pick that when you have a sauce option. The chimi was great, lightly deep fried and was just excellent. The meat choices was beef or chicken. Of which I chose the chicken. I wasn't disappointed. Wow was it good! The pricing was on point. I was happy they offered just the chimi price as well as the meal price. Which included the rice and beans. Which are usually dried up flavorless sides Mexican joints offer. So I declined getting them and saved $3.50 on my dinner. My girlfriend did the same. The drink prices were also where they should be. We were happy with the experience and will be back. Only drawback was the thick, hard chips, and very limited seating. read more

Once we sat down it took for-evah for him to come over- and i ended up getting our own menus. Actually- I had to get up and get my own napkins and straws as well. Cleanliness- had to wipe my own table with a wet wipe from my purse. Food- chips- good, guac- pretty bad- I admit I'm a bit of a guac snob- but for like $6 for a tiny salsa bowl sized portion- skip it. Very one note, not seasoned well and certainly overpriced. Tacos- fish and chicken- pretty fantastic- 4 star, shrimp- bleh- only 1-2 stars. read more

I have really tried to like this place. This is one of the only restaurants in Frankenmuth that provides Mexican food. Every time that I have ordered food from Poblano's, the flavors differ. Sometimes the food is very bland, and other times the food is over salted. I typically order the chicken chimichanga with queso and rice. The queso was salty, and the chicken had no flavor. I also tried the guacamole this time, and it was terrible. When I went into the restaurant to pick up my food, after waiting 20 minutes for a to-go order, the bartender complained about his job to me, and I had to wait another 10 minutes. Overall, the service had always been bad and slow, the food is subpar, and it's really not worth it. I will not be returning anymore. read more

My husband and I visited this place after a day of shopping around downtown..we wanted something off the beaten path and not the standard chicken dinner. We were thrilled with the food and the server was exceptional. From the outside it seems like there is no seating and although the dining room is small, both times we have visited there have been tables available. We found this place entirely by accident a few years ago. It makes a nice difference from all of the touristy stuff on Main Street. My wife is vegan, and she doesn't have a problem finding things on the menu. I like it because it's small, quaint, and so markedly different from everything else in town. read more

Decided to try something other than the chicken dinners in Frankenmuth, found this place on Yelp & decided to try it out. Cute little restaurant with quick service & authentic Mexican music playing. You are served chips & salsa right away. I found the chips a little thick & the salsa was spicy but very bland. I decided to order the Tin Roof Tacos based on other reviews on here. The portions you get here are worth the money but I was again disappointed in the blandness of the food. The beef tacos just didn't have any flavor nor did the refried beans. I did think the Spanish rice was good & had good flavor. I'm such a fan of Mexican food so was disappointed that this place wasn't as good as I expected...probably should have just gone with the chicken dinners. read more
