I just came back from a trip to New Orleans staying right on canal st and after coming back home we craved the amazing food. This little stand was even BETTER than food in some of the best restaurants we visited in New Orleans! Decent flavor, but extremely overpriced for the quality and quality of the food. I've had the shrimp po-boy and the jambalaya on two different occasions and each time I was disappointed with the lack of protein in my dish. My po-boy sandwich had 4-5 shrimp, and the jambalaya, in which you can choose 2 meats, only had meat about every 3 bites, and no meat left half way through, so I through it away. As a native Louisianan I was disappointed because I was wanting a little bit of home. But for Portland Cajun I guess it's okay. Nice staff. read more

The owner of this food truck claimed the best jambalaya in town or my money back, and truly this was the best jambalaya ive ever had anywhere. My husband was also very happy with his shrimp poboy. I dont understand all the complaints about the poboys being small as my husbands poboy was huge. Also the owners were very friendly and created a great atmosphere. I almost didn't get the jambalaya since I get it almost everywhere it's available, but I'm glad I did. Perfect spice and texture to it and the perfect ratio of meet tofillers. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon the street of food trucks and decided on this one with they caught our eye with samples! I decided on red beans and rice with sausage and fried pickles. My boyfriend ordered the fried shrimp and fries and the fried rib. His fried shrimp and fries came out first which was okay - very basic. It didn't blow my mind out the water at all. What was great was the sauce they gave us to dip the fries and shrimp in. Shortly after, my red beans and rice came out. The lady overfilled the little container with to much red beans & chili where I had to be careful not to spill it on me! That wasent fun. They didn't do a good balance with rice and red beans. There was more red bean and chili than rice to go with it. It was good but I honestly feel like Popeyes has better. It just didn't have any flavors that popped. Next the fried riblet came out. We got it because he said thats what it was known for. It was freaking disgusting! The fried coating tasted old! Like the oil they are using is old! The rib itself was dry and lacked flavor- like it was sitting in the oven all day staying warm not fresh at all and was just reheated up by the fried oil. The barbeque sauce that came with it was great though! The fried pickles finally came out after waiting for a minute- these were fresh and very tasty! The best part of ALL the food. Get here!!!! It's authentic and better than any po'boy or red beans inrice we've had in New Orleans. The boss behind this gem, who is joy himself, brings ingredients up from Louisiana and makes all the rest from scratch including the time intensive roux and using fresh veggies for his trinity. My husband and I shared the gulf shrimp po'boy and red beans and rice. The remoulade on the po'boy had that tasty hint of garlic. Gulf shrimp was perfectly cooked with cornmeal crust. The bread was just the right texture. The red beans and rice almost made me cry. The texture was so rich and creamy, the flavor so good it made me not want to take a drink so I wouldn't wash away the taste of the red beans. Only three down sides: my stomach isn't big enough to eat more at one sitting, I can't just get it whenever I want, and I don't live closer. It will be a must have every time we pass by/through Portland, even if we have to go out of our way. read more

This new Cajun/Creole restaurant is excellent! I had a delicious Fried Catfish Po Boy and rice and beans and both were excellent. My wife had the grits and shrimp. The grits were so tasty!
