Wow! I just had the most delicious Lobster Casserole. Lobster was sweet and tender, the butter was pure and just the perfect amount of crackers. You must try this dish! Outstanding. Where to start...server went missing for 25 minutes before we could order apps. Came back gave my 17 year old a drink menu....he was totally serious to serve him. Muscles were average, fried mushrooms were hard. Good finally came and seafood was average at best but Cole slaw tasted sour and. The whole tables mashed potatoes had a shell as if they were twice baked....obviously under the heat lamp for ever....fries were soggy....couldn't be worse, we never complain but it's a 200$ bill...wife told the manager about the manager about the potatoes and she looked. At us with disgust and poked them with the fork as if. We were lying...rudest manager ever...waiter was. A very unenthusiastic MEH for this one. Went there on a Sunday with my in-laws for a late lunch. Server was very good, likable, no issue with service. Wife had Baked Haddock and I had the Fish and Chips. To be honest, I ate most of it but was fully planning on seeing the meal later in the day as was my wife. It was barely cooked and did not taste fresh as is their big claim. It could have been fried for another 2-3 minutes and the same with my wife's meal. She also felt the urge to purge a couple hours later though we gutted through it. I would not go back.....ever. The decor is dated and I think they have a bit of a local following due to the water view but that is not enough for me given other fresher options out there. read more

I met a friend for lunch here. I went in when they opened at noon and waited for a hostess to acknowledge me after many servers walked back and forth. Answered phone with many people standing waiting. When she finally came I asked for a table outside for two. She said I'm sorry we have many large groups coming in and we can't seat you until 1:30 or 2! I was so angry. The service has always been horrible but this takes the cake. I've been to this place for group events and had a nice time, decided to grab an early dinner here with my husband but was not impressed. It's a beautiful location and there were 2 weddings going on, but it seems their dining room takes a back seat to their catering events. The hostess looked at us like we were idiots for not having a reservation at 5 o'clock on a Saturday. They didn't have pagers or take numbers, they tell you to go away and check back in. And what, hope for the best? We decided to hang out in the bar and then eat there when the bartender offered us menus. They were great about taking our orders, but not about checking back in or getting us refills. The food service was slow, which was okay considering everything going on. The food itself was nothing stellar, good but not worth waiting for. Final conclusion: I will probably not visit again. read more

Point Breeze is a restaurant and event facility on a great little lake in Webster, MA. I shot a wedding here over Memorial Day weekend and it was a great little affair. The ceremony spot is overlooking the lake and so provides a great background. They have two event rooms that also face out on the lake as well as a dining room, dining space on the deck, and a bar. For a facility capable of running two weddings a day, I felt that they balanced everything well. They staggered the events so it didn't feel (as some other spaces have) like a giant mess of wedding. The food was buffet style, and pretty well put together. The staff was friendly and promt. AJ (aka Jim) the catering manager was really amenable to everyones needs. My one beef, as the photographer, is that there really wasn't a great spot for formals. They have an upended boat gazebo thing that leaves a lot to be desired. I could have lined them up along the edge of the terrace with the lake behind them, but it would have been squint-city. So I found a shady spot on the side of the yard with woods behind them and that worked well. I was also able to bring the bride and groom down onto the docks for some scenic shots. First visit to Point Breeze tonight on a beautiful night so we could sit outside on the deck. The view on the deck was very nice (see photo). Food was actually very good and our waitress was very pleasant but just didn't visit us enough. Buffalo Tenders were very good tasting just needed more Buffalo Sauce on them. My clam strips were also very tasty and came with a nice salad with delicious Italian dressing. My wife had a very nice Thanksgiving Turkey wrap. My son just chowed on another order of Buffalo Tenders. If I was giving Stars based on the above I would give it 4 Stars. However, the place was something out of Dirty Dancing. Meaning I'm sure it must have looked awesome in its heyday but now just seems old. Not dirty.... Just old. Also one of my biggest concern regarding ever going back is they allow smoking on parts of the deck. For my wife and I that totally kills us ever going back. Beautiful location, during my visit they were out of many popular items, the fried appetizers were burned , the Manhattan clam chowders did not have clams but it was like a tomato garden soup. Salad was wilted. Decent drinks. The wait staff was very nice when you can get their attention. read more

I will say a few good things: 1. Point Breeze is situated very nicely right on Webster Lake; 2. At the time of our visit, the ladies' room was clean, looked fairly updated, and was well stocked with soap and paper products; and 3. The dirt parking lot has, thankfully, been paved (it's been over twenty years since I had a meal at Point Breeze, and I have no idea when the paving took place). But the lot does not have any designated handicapped spaces, not as far as we could see (isn't that against the law?). Those things said, not much else was positive or impressive. SERVICE: Not great. Although the restaurant portion of the facility was not at all busy at the time of our 1:30 p.m. arrival, it took several minutes before a hostess finally acknowledged our presence and seated us (the fact that they had a private party going on in another room at the same time might have had something to do with it). We waited quite a few minutes more before our waiter came to our table (I don't know his name because he never told us, and we never asked). We were seated at a small table for near a window (we originally wanted to sit on their deck, but nixed that idea as it was quite hot and humid, and none of the tables had umbrellas to shield us from the strong sun). We promptly put in our drinks order (a bit difficult due to our waiter's uncertainty as to if they had diet Sprite or not). Mystery Waiter left our table (presumably, to fetch our drinks), but returned a few minutes later (sans drinks), to take our food order. He did not return for another 20 minutes or so, at which time, he appeared carrying both the drinks and the food. FOOD: Terrible---definitely not what we remember the food being. This visit, we were on a mission to partake of solely chowder (they only offer white or red---no clear, Rhode Island-style quahog chowder that the Point Breeze of the past used to serve), and fritters (clam cakes). The order of 6 six fritters we split were of varying sizes (see photos), and were the densest fritters we have ever had. They were pasty, chewy, tasteless, and contained almost no chopped clams. The white chowder was under-seasoned and did not have a clam/seafood flavor at all. It was as if the cook (I will not use the term "chef" as the food did not warrant its use) used water instead of clam juice/broth as the base. It was loaded with large potato chunks and celery slices, but had very few clam pieces. In fact, I found more pieces of bacon in my chowder than clams. After consuming the lead/paste balls, a.k.a. clam fritters, and chowder, we felt weighted down and bloated---we did not enjoy the meal at all. Sure glad we didn't opt for more expensive items as we probably would have been disappointed with those as well. ATMOSPHERE/NOISE LEVEL: Very noisy. A private (not so much) birthday party was going on in the room adjacent to the main dining room. The room was partitioned with beams only, not walls, and we and each and every other diner could hear and see all the dull speeches, revelry, eating, etc., that was going on next door. Not a good set-up for a private event. FINAL THOUGHTS: Although it is a beautiful setting with great views, we won't go back for such subpar food and service. read more

The best thing about this restaurant is of course the view and the fact that they allow dogs on the deck. Their menu is also varied and extensive, and the fish and chips is very good, as are the clam fritters, although clams in them would have made them better. The salads have odd choices; olives and artichokes, for example; yet not on the menu so it's a surprise when you receive your salad. The place is busy and the wait and host staff were good for the volume. However, the bar has poor service; the wines pours are way less than five oz, and staff are adequate at best. Our server at the bar (Michael R) also added more of a tip than I left (for the adequate but not great service)...which is of course illegal, but the phone is always busy so after attempting to call several times, couldn't even contact the manager to dispute. read more

We were excited to try a new place but we were very disappointed. They were so understaffed the poor hostess had to bus tables. Our waitress was in both the dining room as well as on the patio. It started with a simple drink order of club soda with lime, no lime appeared. We put in our order all at the same time. The chowder was like eating mashed potatoes with a tiny bit of broth and each clam fritter had one clam in each piece, the salad had more brown leaves then green. The shrimp cocktail was fantastic. After we were done with the first course it took almost an hour longer to get a shore dinner(forgot my cole slaw and fries and got zucchini instead.) There were 4 other two tops that had come in after us and were served before us.My husband ordered haddock with cheese sauce and the fish was so dry it was barely palatable . Again instead of the ordered mashed potatoes he got the zucchini. When we reminded the waitress she came back with a small side of mashed with her thumb stuck right in the bowl. Um ok we're done now. It was so cold that we and another couple asked to have the AC turned down but that never happened. It was also so loud that we had to scream across the small table to be able to hear each other. I do have to say the sunset was gorgeous even after our 2 hour extended dining experience. My suggestion is if you are going to do functions you have a way to separate them from regular diners. My husband suggested this place last night because of the lake views & outdoor seating. That was the only thing good about this place. Our waiter didn't know what was on tap, wasn't sure what the vegetables were for the day, and just seemed unsure of a lot. We ordered a couple of beers, and mine came very under poured. We wanted to start with oysters, followed by salads and then our meals. However, the salads came first then the oysters. After that it took a long while for our entrees to come. When they did, mine was missing mashed potatoes and my husband's was missing his fries. I had ordered the surf n turf and the shrimp were supposed to be stuffed, but some mushy breading was just thrown on them and tasted gross The waiter finally got the fries but then told me that they didn't have mashed potatoes - huh?? You did when I ordered them!?!? At this point we were just done - there was hardly any deck lighting and absolutely no attempt at bug control. Worst dining experience ever!!! read more

We walk in and it takes 10 minutes to be recognized as they call and seat people around us totally unorganized. I ask if I could put our name in and was basically told when I am done seating people. Ok. Finally get our name in and wait at the bar and watch people coming in and get seated for about 25 minutes. The kicker for us.. we get seated after a wait and in comes this guy as we walk to our seat with a red solo cup, obviously a little drunk, walks into dining room sees a long open table and loudly asks his group to just sit here. And they do. No putting name in and no waiting. With his own cup. He talks and jokes with the help obviously a regular. I guess this restaurant caters to it's regulars before us customers. Worst service I have ever experienced, waited at the hostess stand for 20 minutes while the hostess and countless waitresses walked by and ignored us. We finally sit (inside unfortunately) and took about 30 minutes to get our first drink. And they were terrible. Pieces of fruit from my drink were floating in my friends drink. (Ew?) Ordered chowder, fried clam strips, and a seafood dish. Food was actually very good which is a true shame because everything else is beyond awful. Each time we ordered a drink it couldn't have been more obvious how annoyed our waitresses were (by the end of the night we had 3 different ones!)
