Ordered a Thanksgiving feast for pickup and my family loved it. I was relieved to not have to cook and honestly I could not have done better than the chefs at Jensens. I was particularly impressed with the a turkey. It was beautiful and seasoned well. Also it was moist and delicious. The portions were generous and I'd say was adequate for 8-10 adults. My mother is already asking if we can order Jensens again for Christmas. I also bought some hydrangeas while there and they lasted for weeks. Never seen hydrangeas last that long. This is a high-end market and deli staff needs to be trained on how to slice a cold cut properly. I just wasted $12 on a half pound of prosciutto di parma that is almost completely inedible because of how thick the slices are. Not only that, but the person sliced the very end of the meat so what I got is not even really slices. On top of that, you are absolutely not supposed to pile slices of prosciutto di parma on top of one another, you are supposed to splay them so that they do not stick together. I realize that this is essentially something that no deli in Southern California ever really nails, but for a market of this caliber, you just shouldn't even sell this meat if this is what the customer is going to get. So disappointing. To the store manager - you have an opportunity to really make this a great deli. You could stand out among your competitors by doing something incredibly basic - offering the first slice of the meat cut to the customer so that they can ensure it's to their liking. This is standard customer service on the East Coast and I don't understand why no one does that here. read more

This is the best grocery store i have been to in California. It is outstanding The Service from staff is superb. The food is excellent the deli counter awesome and very reasonable i got 1/2 lb of egg salad for $2.92 and it was the best egg salad i have ever eaten. Do yourself a treat and visit its not far from Sunset Cliffs if u enjoy beach picnics. It is my go to place forever! read more

I can say without a doubt I love having to work on this side of town, because I know without a doubt where I'm getting lunch. The deli is magnificent and I went with a panini this time around. I love this little store! They have a great selection of everything. Their baked goods and hot food are to die for. The service is always super friendly. I had about 3 people say hi and ask if I needed help during my trip. The elderly man bagging even offered to help me out to my car. It is a bit pricier for certain items, but to me it's totally worth that. I had their thanksgiving meals for Thanksgiving and it was perfect. Their hot food and hot bar always has some great stuff. They even have a fresh orange juice press machine! Why would I go anywhere else? read more

We were staying in Point Loma and wanted to grab some fruits and a few snacks. This wasn't far from where we were staying and I honestly wish we had one in AZ. The place was clean, employees were super helpful and they had things I feel like the regular grocery store doesn't. It was like a Whole Foods meets AJs meets Trader Joe's lol. I just loved it. Most amazing grocery store in Point Loma. We got a sandwich at the deli counter & it was delish.

NOTE: I love Jensen's grocery store, but this review is for the deli in Jensen's. I ordered a hot pastrami sandwich and the meat inside was so chewy that it was inedible. It tasted like beef jerky. Pastrami is supposed to be tender and flavorful and this was the exact opposite. I was very disappointed as it was a pretty expensive sandwich and was already back home by the time that I opened the sandwich and realized that it was inedible. I normally love this grocery store and the deli inside as well, but this experience made me unlikely to come back. read more

Deli and butcher rank 5 stars... but their bakery is a 0. The choices in this bakery are similar to what you might find in your local 7-Eleven; prepackaged, stale crap. This is particularly disappointing after shopping in their other locations that have fabulous bakery departments. I wasn't gonna post but how many times have we bit into a cream filled éclair or donut without even thinking or seeing something growing in it. From now on I'm cutting everything to check that's the only reason I seen the mold growing in the pistachio éclair,didn't see anything in the strawberry one, and didn't even check the chocolate one, we just threw them away.I did talked to the Manger that night and hopefully they threw them out and checked the cream there using. read more

I be want to amend my previous comments on trying to order Valentine's Day dinner. I was able to speak to the manager Sandra, and she explained that the reason we kept getting the "timed out" message when we tried to pre-order online was that they had maxed out their availability. However, she said if we were able to come down the next day and pre-pay in person, they would accommodate us. We did that and just finished our DELICIOUS dinner -- can't gush enough about how good it was. Besides being our local grocery store this place has the best deli! Their sandwiches are great and during summer they do tri tip out in the parking lot! People who work there are all super nice. This is a fantastic store. I can attest it is the best one stop grocer in San Diego. Prices are pretty reasonable-less than Gelsons, similar to Sea Side and just a wee bit more than Sprouts when it comes to shelf stable stuff. The selection though!!! The depth of inventory is incredible. It's a small and easy to navigate store with friendly fellow shoppers, helpful happy Staff and no bulk bin aisles (which I think can be iffy depending on fellow shoppers nasty behavior). The deli WOW, the pasta, the adorable boxes of precious local mushrooms, cheese OMG!!! Plus extra bonus points for the little bits of all sorts of good stuff if you're on vacay (boutiquey spirits etc.) a small household or just wanting to try something new cheese wise or otherwise. Jensen's also features a small but mighty meat and seafood department. Jensen's isn't in my neighborhood, but it's still worth driving over and grabbing the basics along with other fun things. read more

Picked up some sandwiches from the deli to take to Seaworld. They had great options and we all throughly enjoyed our sandwiches. As a young professional trying to save up, I enjoy Jensen's for the reasons that it supports local producers and quality food and their to-go options and hot food are all delicious looking. It always fun to try the free items on their newsletter. However, I don't come here to shop of my own budget because it's wayyy too expensive. You certainly pay up for the quality of the food and experience in the store as well as the support of local products. It's a good fit for the well off families of Point Loma, but not so much for the students and young people. I always walk around the store salivating and so enthused by all their amazing products. Longing and wishing it was budget friendly. Coming in here for me is like browsing through a China shop. All so beautiful but nothing I dare touch. read more

5 stars for prepared foods, deli and hotbar. Tri tip signature sandwich, sloppy joes, list goes on and on for delicious treats. Hotbar used to be ok to sometimes plain not good, but the new Chef Julius has been killing and it was obvious from day one something changed. 5 star for service as well, usually short waits and friendly efficient employees. 4.5 for specialty selection I do wish there was a bit more organic options. 2 Stars because they are price gouging on Jiant tall cans more than expensive liquor stores :( Whoever's idea that was I'm going to find out! read more

From the deli, to the butcher shop, Jensens offers a great selection including meals that are prepared, and ready to heat, and eat. The grocery selection is excellent, the prices are okay. You will be paying higher prices when it comes to these types of grocery stores. This is a full service grocery store with a helpful, knowledgeable staff that cares about service, and the customer. If you are someone who finds small and expensive grocery stores with unique items in them FUN then this is the place for you! I love Jensen's! I love to stroll the aisles, the cheese section especially! We make home made pizzas often and are obsessed with getting the ingredients from here because they are top notch. They have fresh HOME MADE mozzarella... Bianco pizza sauce (if you haven't watched the chefs table you should) extremely fresh produce and just over all good vibes. Their sushi selection is amazing too. Staff is friendly... selection is great! This is no grocery outlet or food saver so don't expect to get a deal... but expect to get what you pay for because it is marvelous read more

This market is not close to where I live but I came here in search of Rancho Gordo beans. I was so happy my bean search brought me here as it's a great market on top of the fact that they carry products I don't see elsewhere. Went to Jensen's deli for the first time. Wanted to bring a picnic to our sea world trip today. It was too early for Jersey Mike's and subway isn't satisfying so we went to our neighborhood deli. The deli has a huge selection of classic sandwiches, hot sandwiches and specialty sandwiches. There's also prepared salads and sides and main dishes. Everything you could want. We each chose a different sandwich. I had the veggie which was stuffed with avocado, spinach, garlic hummus, roasted peppers on delicious brown multigrain bread. My daughter had the BLTA bacon lettuce tomato and avocado on sourdough. Fiancé had the Italian with a variety of Italian meats and the fixins. My husband had the roasted turkey and bacon sandwich on multigrain bread. All the sandwiches were under $10 and my husband was the only one that ate the whole sandwich. A half was ample for the rest of us. Jensen's is a family owned chain and they carry local products and their customer service is excellent. Management cares about their employees and customers and it's evident when you shop here. High quality in every way and fair prices for what you get. Try it read more
