Food was great, counter service was not so hot- one of two bartenders had to continually step outside to card/assign tables to new patrons. There was a prominent sign saying 15% service charge was added to all orders, yet the hand held device still asked for tip, For counter service 15% is more than adequate. If you're a fan of dry rub wings, I would say give these a shot, but I'm a sauce girl to I was dousing my wings in the ranch and blue cheese. Awesome price for a 6 wings which I can definitely see the popularity. The wings are deep-fried, dipped in our famous sauce, and grilled so a lot of TLC goes into them. Again, my preference, I need another coating of that sauce and I think the wing size doesn't deliver enough skin (my favorite part). If you love wings, this is the place to be! I absolutely love their own rub and goes really well with old school ranch! I love how the flavor is mildly smoky and yet it's very prominent. They have a decent seating area up front with fast service from the bar and then they have a back area seating too which is great because you can accommodate so much more! One of the things to be aware of is if you come here for wings primarily, expect a wait time of about an hour or hour and half! Having lived in Milwaukee for nearly 4 years now, there are a lot of places that get super hyped up that actually fall way short of expectations. When I heard people claim that Points East has the best wings - I was skeptical. However; these wings are fantastic. Whatever they're marinating and dry rubbing on these wings is absolutely perfect. Wings arrive hot, meaty, not gristly or skimpy. Nice sized wings with tender, flavorful, juicy meat. I'm a big sauce person, and these dry rubs stand alone without needed to be doused in sauce. These are very possibly the best wings I've ever had - and I am a wing fan. It's my go to bar order. If you're in Milwaukee and you want wings, this is the spot. Have also tried TomKen's - cool sauce choices, weird chicken (lots of little hairs/feathers noticed on nearly all wings). Get your wing fix here. These are some of the best wings anywhere - including Buffalo, NY which are actually not up to snuff vs. these. Somehow this little corner bar that you wouldn't expect much from found the perfect way to cook these wings. They're exactly the right amount of crispiness with a great traditional flavor to boot. These are easily one of my Top 3 wings from ANYWHERE, not just Milwaukee (and I say that as a wing fanatic). Only thing is the cook time runs a little long, but the wait is worth every bite. The wings are a little spicy but it definitely enhances the flavor! Atmosphere is pretty casual. Everytime I come here it is usually pretty crowded but not to hard to find a table. There is two sections to the pub so that helps with seating. Since there usually is a decent amount of people it can be loud but nothing outrageous. Prices are overall average even for the exceptional wings. All together it's not a bad place to hang even if you are not getting wings. The beer choices are pretty average for a pub but there is a drink for everyone. Even though it is a pub their main selling point is definitely the wings. Not quite a dive bar, this is a neighborhood bar with minimal staff but a great selection of beers and fantastic wings. It has a super vibe that made me feel like I needed to be here. After working out that there isn't a waitress for table service, we belied up to the bar and ordered 15 hot wings and a plate of sweet potato fries. And some beers. The beers came out quick, but I think the small kitchen might have been the reason why the fries and wings took a bit. They were totally worth it. Hot and spicy, they were fried AND THEN GRILLED. Ok I'm the last to the party again but with so many bookmarks places can take a while to get to not to mention the favorites that I go to. I was so looking forward to the day I stopped by for voted best wings in Milwaukee, and word of mouth, I'm finally going to have the best wings. I found the last parking spot on the block across the street so parking was easy for me and just an hour into opening so they were about 30% full. The place it self has old school charm with the worn out wood floors, exposed brick walls, decorative tin ceiling, exposed ducting and wood bar. The place has plenty of flatscreens which were playing on the loud side so people were talking loud which made the whole place seem loud for not being full. Besides a full bar there is approx 12 beer on tap. I would have a Lakefront Amarillo and six wings for lunch, the wings took approx 24 minuets to get to me. The wings looked good and not exactly sauced or rubbed but more like marinaded/baked, SEE MY PICTURES. My first thought is the temp of the wings was not hot out of the fryer/grill but warm and soggy and on the dry side. Were they not cooked to order or did they sit somewhere for 10 minuets before getting to me, I don't know but I'm used to wings hitting the table with more of a just out of the ? hot. The wings were not bad and not super hot to me but enough heat for the average person, I'm habanero guy when I make them at home. I was expecting hot/juicy/crispy wings from voted the best and not warm/soggy wings. I don't even know how they are cooked because there was no grill char marks for being grilled and almost looked baked. The blue cheese sauce was like commercial creamy salad dressing, my first thought and if they boast best wings you think it would be house made with chunks of blue cheese on the sharp side. The idea I had was to try a new bar that wasn't too far from where I lived and had a cheap drink special. I wasn't expecting this magical little dive with Chimay on tap. I wasn't there for Chimay, but it's nice to know one has options. I wasn't really intending to eat either, but the place was crowded and it took me awhile to get a seat at the bar. I stood in the meantime and drank a few beers. I was close to one of the tables while the people got their wing order. The wings and what were probably the garlic fries smelled absolutely amazing. So by the time I got a seat I had built up an appetite. I got a wing order of my own. I was a little broke so I skipped the fries. I'll still have to try them. But the wings were really, really good and I'm not normally much of a wing person. They come in orders of 6, 12, or 18. I got 6 and that was fine as a bar snack. I totally saw people eating orders of 12 by themselves, too. The wings are fried and then grilled, so they have that hint of smoky char you don't get from wings elsewhere. (I thought they might border on being a little dry as a result, but I heard some other patrons deliberately ordering them "burned as s**t" so I clearly don't know what I'm talking about.) They're also not over-sauced like most other wings. I can totally see myself having cravings for those things and needing to make a regular stop. One of the reasons I picked the place is that they advertise themselves as a bar that serves food and not a restaurant. That was exactly what I was in the mood for, and the place was very no-frills in a good way. The atmosphere was pleasantly dive-y but the dining area and restrooms were clean and the bartenders took good care of me. So I have been to Points East roughly 12-15 times over the past 2 years so this is more of a combination review of all of my experiences there. Points East has been given critical acclaim as the best wing in Milwaukee for years, and as someone who eats wings 1-2 times per week,I respectfully disagree. While it likely sits on the MKE Wing Mt. Rushmore, I have had some serious inconsistencies with my orders. The biggest issue I have had is wing size and juicy/dry combo. Ordering to-go (especially in the COVID era) I have seen some dinky sized wings in to-go orders. When we got Points East last weekend, we got it as a late night snack (945 pm) for 3 of us and the portions of the wings were not great. I have had some recent batches of dry wings there which make it difficult when you have a dry rub wing. When Points East is on its easily top 3 wing in the city, but my experiences have been 50/50 with their consistency. I enjoy the flavor of the dry rub wing, and the MKE style of deep fry to grill finish is the best thing about the culinary scene. I probably prefer Club Garibaldi's wing to it as it is very similar, but has more sauce to it. The garlic French fries here are some of the best in the city so I need to give credit where it is due with aioli ideal for dipping. I enjoy going to Points when the kitchen is closed and having some drinks with friends (pre-COVID). They also have NFL Sunday ticket which is very helpful being a Cleveland Browns fan but get there early for that. I would also give a recommendation for their ordering system during COVID: allow it online!! 95% of the time I call them its busy which is a testament to their popularity, but can they get a second line or allow online ordering to better improve the process? The wings were absolutely amazing! They grill them, so they have this incredible smokey flavor with a little bit of a spicy kick.
