Recommended to us by a coworker but we never got to experience it. Didn't realize everyone in the party had to be 21 and we took our 22 and 20 year old children for a celebratory dinner. While we totally understand and respect the rule, the person who we experienced upon entering (not realizing we couldn't just eat there) was one of the rudest people we had ever encountered. Maybe he was having a bad day but geez... He very rudely demanded ID"s from all of us after glaring at us for stepping too far into the pub. When I asked some simple questions, he again rudely yelled that we couldn't be in there unless we were all 21 and nothing else mattered. We promptly left, went a short distance away to AJ Bombers and had a delightful and delicious meal with awesome service. Had this guy just told us in a normal way, we would have thought nothing of it, but because he was so rude, we won't be back! I'm very hesitant to post this review as the time is really hard for the restaurant owners. But we just picked up our takeout order today and the food was disappointing to say the least. The onion pedals were so stale they were chewy.... So were the cheese curds. The chicken wings were dry and salty. My wife and I couldn't finish our meal and had to order a pizza from elsewhere. Verdict: if you want similar quality food without being overcharged, go to your nearby pick and save and find them over the frozen food section. Also, there is a $3 take out surcharge. read more

If you love dry rub, this is the place for you. Their wings are absolutely amazing. However, it does take them forever to cook them so don't expect to be in and out. You order at the bar and there are no servers. It's often super crowded and since it takes so long for the wings too cook, it's really hard to get a table if it's a busier time. They also don't do take out, which is unfortunate but understandable. They also have really good cheese curds and garlic fries! read more

Had to come here based on the yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. This place is literally for 21 and up. When you come in, you place your order at the bar and find somewhere to sit and wait (and they have about 15 beers on tap). The menu isn't big at all but that's ok, I came here for the wings and garlic fries. The wings are excellent, legendary, great, and top of the line. They seem grilled/charbroiled and if I'm right that's another level of greatness to have a great wing and it not even be fried. As for the garlic fries, I would describe them the exact same way as I did the wings. Another must come to place in Milwaukee, especially if you are a chicken wing lover like myself. read more

This place is a working machine. From the customer's view point this place is very well managed. Simple menu, quality food, perfect tv to client noise ratio (Thank you for that! WINGS! It's all about the wings at this otherwise pretty standard fare corner tavern. You'll find the dark corner bar, the great beer selections and the sub-friendly service at other places in town. But, you won't find the wings. Upon entering you'll want to proceed directly to the bar. There is no table service here, but don't be deterred. The beer selection is vast, grab something semi-rare and while you're waiting, the only menu is painted on the wall for your viewing pleasure. A dozen wings will set you back $10.50. Best to place your food order when you pick up your drinks as it will take some time(even when they are at half capacity) for your food to arrive. But once it does you'll be so glad you came. Served in bar-food-chic plastic baskets with paper liners these wings will certainly captivate your taste buds. I was a bit concerned that there was only one choice - wings, hot. But be not afraid, the heat it a bit of spice on the finish but nothing that will set off fire alarms in your mouth. Celery is included to tame the heat, and order plenty of bleu cheese or ranch on the side,but you'll pay 75 cents per generous serving. They also appealed to by bar food weakness by offering pickle fries, so I dutifully caved in (4.50 for a generous serving). And so glad that I did. While I hold not official expert status, I've tasted more than my share and these have been some of the best. Battered fried and lightly seasoned with crunchy pickles in the center, a pure delight! I'm not a wing person, but my coworker from out of town asked where to get good wings. So, I recommended this place from what I've heard. My goodness, what I've heard was right! These wings are soooooooo good! There's only one flavor. Kinda refreshing so, no, you can't get honey habenero or Parmesan peppercorn with lime and concocted things like that, which I believe never taste as good as they sound anyway and there shouldn't be a ton of weird crap with your wings, anyway! The one variety of wings is amazing because it's a dry rub - my favorite is always the dry rub with meats - and grilled, also a fan of the char. You order at the bar, so a bit unorthodox but that's ok. I was in for a Packer game and would not recommend this place for football watching, the TVs are way too small and located up in corners of the ceiling. At times I could not see at all where the football was. But take it from this girl, who is never impressed by wings: these wings are so awesome!! I want more!! Want to go back!! read more

I am not a "wing" man. I hate dealing with all the bones for the minuscule amounts of meat you get. I hate the sauce dripping all over my fingers. I hate how I have to wipe my face after every few bites. I have avoided going here for years because "Oh my god wings," really wasn't a big sell for me. Finally, after living on the east side for nearly 5 years, I was convinced to go with a group of friends after we found out that our first choice lunch spot was closed for the day... I am a fool. These wings were Fan-fucking-tastic. They are flavorful, smokey, moist, and best of all.... THEY ARE NOT OOZING WITH SAUCE. I can actually eat these and feel like a normal damn person! The flavor and spice are right on, being enticing without being hot for the sake of being hot. The only downside was, being made by hand fresh, they can take a while to come out. We were waiting about 45 minutes on a 3/4 full day. The staff was friendly, fast, and surprisingly organized considering that all orders are placed at the bar. I was surprised that the bartender that took my order immediately knew where I was sitting and with who, as soon as I walked up to the bar. Average bar. I don't have much to say except that it is a local hot spot. We weren't able to get wings to go even though there were no open tables. That was lame. The Irish car bomb I had there was pretty weak. They gave me less than half a Guinness. We waited for a table to open and ordered wings which were pretty good. Dealt with some rudeness for one of the staff members when we were leaving. I wouldn't go back. Lots more to explore to settle for mediocrity. read more

Due to the fact that enjoying Points East wings for the first time is very much a Come to Jesus moment in one's life, I figured a haiku would be in order: Gotta get the wings So crispy yet so meaty No sauce is needed While I am no poet, that pretty much sums up the best wings in the city. They do some magical combination of baking or frying or something. The wings are not saucy and wet like BW3, yet they are not dry rubbed and powdery either. They are seasoned and in the mild/medium category. They are crispy and meaty, and 12 is always filling for me. As far as the location goes, it is a small, unassuming bar on the corner. If you were driving by, you would not know this place to be the home of the best wings in the city. I would strongly suggest you get here early because it is a pretty small place and tables are at a premium. It fills fast, and you end up waiting for a table for a while. The bar is full, and the beer menu is solid. It is by no means a beer bar like Roman's, but is not meant to be. The one disclaimer is that the wings take a while. Don't walk in the door and expect to be eating in 15 minutes. It is a good 30-45 minutes before you get your food. Settle in, enjoy a drink, and enjoy the sports on tv while you wait. Look around, you may even notice a few Bucks or Brewers! Axford used to hang out here all the time. If you are looking for a taste of Milwaukee culture mixed with a taste of the best wings I have had anywhere throughout my travels, this is your place. Enjoy! read more

I have a friend thats a picky eater but he "loves" wings! We were heading from downtown...hmmm...too easy. Gotta take him to Point East Pub! We arrived around 6pm, right before the rush and placed our order and grabbed a seat at the bar. As we sat and watched the bartender/cook prep the wings for the fryer and grill the bartender chatted us up and suggested new Apple Ciders they had. About 20 mins later, those delicious wings were sat in from of us. I kid you not, it seemed like as soon as he put them down about three people behind me asked "how long is the wait..?" and "are they as good as they look?" haha. YES!!! After a couple wings I looked him and asked are they "too spicy"? As he ate I looked down and noticed, there was about three wings left and he says" you gonna eat those?" I replied, "ahhh, hell yea"?? as I gave him a side eye (lol). I grabbed my wings as he looked me at the corner of his eye...."kinda unfair of me to let you just order just 12... huh"? There's great music on the weekends in the back room! Last weekend was my first time trying their Best of Milwaukee wings! Wow, how could I have played so many gigs here and never ordered food, even? Well, for starters, it's not really a restaurant-type of bar. You have to glance over someone's sulking belly-up to the bar shoulders to read the chalkboard menu. Then you sit and wait. For a long time....this place could really use a waitress. A REAL waitress that waits tables and cleans off the old tables. I saw not one, but two sets of diners come in and have to clear used plates and glasses. Not like the "waitress" and the owner were really busy, they were working behind the bar, tapping beers and making wings periodically. There's plenty of food and drink business for a waitress to work the floor and still keep two people occupied behind the bar. After 20 minutes of waiting I figured we were hidden and they had forgotten about us. How long can one order of wings take in a bar that's not a restaurant? Well, it took 30 minutes. Was it worth it? Well yeah, sorta, I guess. The wings were tangy and slightly spicy. There was a lot of meat on these things too- not your average skinny Buffalo Bones! The sauce teetered between that dry rub and wet sauce. Nice. I can see why these continually earn "Best of Milwaukee" awards. I wish they changed their order sizes, the smallest size of 12 was just too much for a person of my stature. But I guess this IS Milwaukee... Great internet jukebox here. Plenty of good selections to while away my long wait. Whereas right after their renovation everything seemed shiny and new, this bar suffers a bit from unused space. The whole midsection of fireplace and darts area just seems to not be used well, and is now a dumping ground for outdoor tables, abandoned high tops and too much clutter. They could just set up a couple couches in the fireplace area and wow- a whole new vibe! A couple fixes and Points East might be one of my fave Milwaukee destinations for food and music. read more

Points East Pub is debatably one of the best wing places in Milwaukee. You don't get a choice of grilled or deep fried, sauce, bone or boneless, nothing - you just pick 6, 12, or 18 with celery and ranch or bleu cheese. You know why? Because they're already hand-sauced, grilled, deep fried, and then grilled again to perfection. They're not too greasy or spicy, but very crispy and delicious. I'm glad they expanded their size and staff, because you used to have to wait forever to get a table or get served. I have to be honest that I haven't ever tried anything else on their menu - why bother! They also have a great tap beer selection (what goes better with wings?) including sours which I'm always on the lookout for. Enjoy! read more

I'm so torn on this review. I dont know whether to give them two stars or five. Or three. So I read in a "best of" that they had the best chicken wings in Wisconsin. I'd already tried Chicken Lips in Sun Prairie WI, which advertised the best wings, anywhere. I figured if Chicken Lips didnt beat them in best of Wisconsin, I needed to see for myself. THEN a friend posted on Facebook that they had the best wings in Milwaukee. Ok, that's confirmation, they're on my list. I dont live in Milwaukee, but I work there occasionally. I made time en route to a recent work commitment to stop and pick up some wings, and I figured I could eat them at work. I checked their website and Google to confirm that they were open. When I got there, there was a sign on the door: NO CARRYOUT OR TO GO ORDERS. They had a bouncer at the door checking ID, and I asked him is it always no carryout? He said yes, and was kind of rude about it. I didnt have time to eat in before work, and even if I did, the place was so jam packed I dont know where I would have sat to eat. Plus I dont like crowds. At this point, I had decided it wasnt in the cards for me to try Milwaukee/Wisconsin's supposed best wings, and planned to leave them a 2 star review for their NO CARRYOUT policy. (I mean what is that? What possible advantage is there to turning away paying customers who arent taking up space in your establishment?!) However I got done with work before 10pm, and their website said they served food until 11pm, so I decided to give them another chance. If Speed Queen hadnt been out of outside shoulder, it might have been a different story. They have no parking lot and street parking is hard to find. When I got there the same rude bouncer carded me (there's no way I look remotely under 18). It was still crowded but there were some seats available and I decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was friendly and helpful. I asked, if I ordered a large amount of food, could I take leftovers to go? He said that was fine, so I ordered 18 wings, the largest portion. They have a lot of other food items but the other signature item was "garlic fries" so I also ordered a large of those. The wings came out fairly quickly. The website had advertised "hand sauced" but these appeared to be dry, and I figured maybe they had my order wrong? However what appeared to be the a dry rub was extremely flavorful, smoky and spicy at the same time. I asked for a side of sauce. When I received the sauce I understood. The taste of the sauce is exactly the same as the taste of the wing spices. In other words, they had sauced them just enough to soak up the flavors, but not enough so that they were still wet. I appreciated that, as a lot of hot wings are WAY too wet. I still prefer SLIGHTLY more sauce than they came with, if they are not meant to be dry. If you eat your wings with ranch, as I do, they do not give you enough and you will need to ask for extra. They make the ranch in house. My fries didnt come out until I was almost done with my wings (and I ate more than half of them). The garlic fries are fresh, crispy fries topped with minced garlic and something else (oil? sauce?) The combination is VERY good if you like garlic. But you HAVE to like garlic. The garlic taste is very strong. I presume there are no vampires left within 90 miles of Milwaukee. I brought some home, and my wife, who was asleep in bed with the door closed, woke up and said "what smells like garlic?" Both of us love garlic, but if you dont-- steer clear. Also, they do well dipped in the ranch. Bottom line, I dont know if I'll be back. The wings (and garlic fries) were very good, but worth sitting in a crowded bar for with a combination of great and terrible service? When there arent any good parking options? We will see. NOW FOR THE WING RANKING. Best wings in Wisconsin: Sweet Honey Chilli Glazed Wings from That BBQ Joint in Madison: Best hot/buffalo wings in Wisconsin: Original wings (dry rub with sauce) from Chicken Lips in Sun Prairie This place MIGHT make third place. I made an account to make this review for Points East. There was nothing wrong with the wings, they were quite good. Large and tasty and a great value overall. The problem was with the service of one bartender. One bartender (didn't catch her name) who was wearing glasses, really impacted our service in a negative way. She was rude right off the bat and unwilling to do the most basic tasks like split a check 3 ways because in her words "I'm not doing that". After that, she was very rude about even the most basic requests we made like trying to order a beer. She made a large stink about our "seat numbers" despite only allowing us to use one credit card to open a tab, which was kinda odd as abiding by seat numbers is typically something you do when there are multiple tabs open. Eventually, she stopped serving us completely saying "I can't deal with them anymore" to the other bartender who then promptly helped us out with no problems. Remind you, my order was quite simple: a single Miller light and an order of 12 piece wings. Being taken aback by her behavior, we chose to observe her interactions with other customers and saw that she was treating others in a similar fashion. She made customers feel as if doing the basic tasks of her job was a major inconvenience. How lovely. I can't understand how someone in the service industry can treat customers like that and still have a job. The cherry on top of this experience is the automatic 15% service fee when you feel like your service quality was quite poor. This is a hard review, because when you enjoy the food, but hate the service, its like how do you really rate this? For me, service is key. The chicken wings were awesome, fries good, and the spotted cow was great. However, our waitress was a disaster. Granted, we came in at the end of a bucks game, so I give her bad attitude and shotty service a slight pass. Friday night of St. Patricks weekend should have more people and/or better servers. Long wait times, attitude when asking for things or questions and even just plain ignoring our table when we would try to get their attention. Then got some more beers and waited more. Meanwhile, the place filled up to the gills. After a couple hours, more or less, we finally got food. Well, the food was pretty darn unimpressive. Plus they forgot the chips for my burger. And they never did show up. How does a place this lame get such great reviews, and attract so many people on a Monday night? Americas' best wings (and drummies)! The most important thing about PEP is they bought the wing recipe from Brett's Brett when he sold. They also have a very large-for-it's-size-bar high end (and low end) beer list, and they bring in some top notch drafts for their five rotating taps. Many many more TVs now than the old days. Unfrozen chicken parts are continually brought up from the basement in 40 pound bags, quick fried, dipped in the magic sauce bucket, and grilled. Obviously not a dry rub, though the end result is a spicy herby dry rub from heaven. A very important aspect for me is the charred beauties rarely have any fat globules that often plague chicks. People seem to like the other food as well...whatever, do you go to Carnevor for their shrimp?,,, order the wings first! There is often a long wait,,, always a wait,,, wait! For starters....I will admit that I totally avoided this place for years. I'm a firm believer in never believing the hype. However, the wings were amazing. Whatever it is that they do to those wings is pure magic. The perfect amount of crispiness and char, texturally phenomenal. The place gets busy and with a small grill, you literally will wait for an hour. Be prepared to wait. Everybody knows they have amazing wings so it gets crazy. I may be spoiled from now on when it comes to wings. Personally, I prefer the little known hidden gems, but this tops my list as a Mil-town staple that everyone should try. read more

By far my favorite place to get wings in the city. The wings are crispy with black crunchies on the edges; no sauce, just a straightforward char. Nice spice but not spicy. I'm also a sucker for jalapeño poppers and they hit the spot. The establishment is a humble corner bar with lots of TVs and decent (but never enough!) seating. No matter when you go, expect to wait at least an hour for your wing order... but TOTALLY WORTH IT. Beer offerings are solid. You have to order at the bar for everything which isn't a huge deal. Are the wait times of 45 minutes plus worth it? Dam right! I cant attest for things such as beer and apps. Who would waste their time on that when you could be indulging in the best chicken wings in Milwaukee. Its a old school pub time of place that so happens to have a kitchen. It used to be a cooking area (grill/deep fryer). They have upgraded to a suitable kitchen. I thought this would mean shorter wait times. I was wrong! Still a long time for the chicken. The wings are deep fried partially then thrown in some hot sauce and char-grilled. This is the best I tell you. Dont expect A1 customer service or the decor to blow you away. Its straight up no frills. But thats ok because it works. There are no carry-outs and from what I saw this no carry-outs. Im like WTH? So if I get a 12 piece and eat 3 I was told i wont get a carry out container. That sucks but they cant be mad for people wanting to take their fabulous home. Last point, NO KIDS! I have had this placed bookmarked for a long time. Finally had a chance to stop in and try the wings. Well I have to say I was not disappointed. The wings are good and came out in a timely manner. My only hesitation about going there was the long wait according to some of the reviews. We didn't have to wait long since we got there as soon as the kitchen open. The place is small so I can see why there could be a wait if it's crowded. Also the bartender provided great service. Haven't been here since before COVID. Brought my wife and 21 yr old son (newbie to Points East.) If a business in Milwaukee should win an award for operating protocol during the Pandemic...Points East wins hands down. COVID sucks, but Points East still creates a great atmosphere and cares a great deal about customer safety. Whoever came up with the procedures is a good mind. The food....always a treat. read more
