I've been here a few times now. It reminds me of the poke shops on the big island. I like that we can choose sides and toppings to go with our poke bowl. The only thing is that it's a little pricey but if you're looking for some variety in your poke this is the place to be. You choose everything from the type of poke to your sauce for the poke. Like the concept: poke made to order with choice of sauce and add ons. Reality wasn't quite up to the idea. I has spicy ahi - which is my "go to" poke bowl. Tuna was OK, but not as good as some places, a couple of stringy pieces. For add-ons, I had avocado. the avocado was naked, not a bit of salt. Hint to Poke & Box - avocado needs a pinch of salt. Talk about not being stingy, this place gives good portions of their fish! I've been to plenty of poke spots & most places really limit the amount they give on fish, but not Poke & Box! The fish is also very fresh & you can definitely taste the quality of the fish. Pricing is inexpensive, roughly $10-12 a person. read more

Yummy!! This place is our new go-to place! It might seem a little complicated at first, but it's not. It's awesome, because you get to customize your plate to how you like it. Now for me to say this place is awesome when I don't eat raw fish (weirdo!) says a lot! Now you're wondering "WTH does she eat then??" I get white rice, imitation crab salad, tofu and/or shrimp in the creamy sesame (so good with the tofu!!) or mild spicy sauce. I like to wrap them in the Korean seaweed...yum!!! Poke & Box is totally worth the price. If you love ahi poke, they give you a hearty scoop of it and it is FRESH! My husband gets the medium plate and gets ahi for both choices in different sauces. I would have given this place a four star (LA walk of fame in Hollywood is the best and cannot be beat, pokenometry-check out this place) but here is my story: my first time there and two people before me. The workers that helped them had given a slice of avocado and I thought that would be great with the poke box so was excited to get that, well the person that help me picked up the avocado slice and it broke in half. She proceeded to continue the order WITHOUT grabbing the fallen half slice of the avocado, so when all is done and I get to the cash register, I told her that the two people before me received a full slice of avocado and I have a small piece. She said if I wanted extra avocado, it would be .99 more. I told her I wanted to have extra please. I paid the extra for the other 1/2 that broke off. The appropriate amount should have been 1 slice with no extra payment. Very disappointed with her, could she have been the owner and trying to rob people and be unfair in that sense. Saw this establishment and decided to try it out for lunch. To be honest, was a little confused with the whole process at first due to the lack of signs to explain more but once is enough to understand. I love the choices for the poke base and the fact that you can have all of it. The ahi and salmon were sizable and the sauce wasn't too overwhelmingly spicy. My favorite topping is the tempura crumbs. Add some taegu and I got a customized lunch box~ I'd definitely come again to this place, but be warned. This was incredible!!! My fiancé and I tried another poke place on the island which was very good, but this was more of our taste when it comes to the way it's made in LA. They had a large assortment of different fresh fish (I think they had salmon, ahi tuna, and shrimp for sure. Sorry, didn't pay attention to the rest!). The number of shaves, toppings, and mixes were amazing! We were over the moon about our bowls and tried to come here again before the end of our visit, but didn't work out. One of my favorite poke bowl places but had to write this review. 2 times failure. First time went for lunch at noon and out of ahi. What poke bowl place runs out of ahi at the beginning of the day. At the end of day I would understand as fish should always be fresh. Gave them another chance yesterday. Next to the seafood what's the next most important thing in a poke bowl. Good rice! Went to Poke & Box to try it out. Got the medium ( 2 choices ) I got the ahi & salmon with brown rice. I chose spicy soy sauce & creamy sesame to go over the poke. They will let you taste the sauces before you choose. After that you can choose the crunchy topping, and lastly vegetable toppings like kimchi, choisum, Taegu, daikon.... $9.99 for all the food. So I know I have read several reviews that complain that they are overwhelmed by the variety of choices Poke & Box offer, but I feel the complete opposite. I love the variety and healthy choices offered by Poke & Box, I just wish they wouldn't limit you on final toppings. Like I would love to have masago, Choi sum and seaweed salad as a topping. I like to think of this place like Poke subway...and there are a ton of places on the mainland that offer a similar service. I wondered if they would come up with a sweet and spicy aioli- just not too spicy. Also, if they could come up with a frequent punch card of some sort, that would be fantastic. So we went today thinking like " yay I can't wait " so we go ahead and order our food I got the " spicy shoyu with corn , and rice " then my boyfriend got the "salmon & ahi w/ kimchee & corn " we took a few bites and It tasted not fresh , not that good at all as the last two times I went . 15 mins after our stomach starts to act up because of what we got . One me second visit to Poke & Box I had to walk away because of all the flies that were flying around and landing on the raw fish. The lady serving kept trying to SHO them away but the damage was done and I walked away. Gross!! Their Poke isn't the best by far anyway. I would have given this review more than one star, due to going regularly for my meals here and receiving very good service every time, but today of all days... the worst customer service that I have had. When I entered the business, there was a long line with a big family group ahead of me. This did not hinder me from eating here, especially big lines with customers equal good food. The process of assisting the family took quite a bit of time and was a whole ordeal for this gentleman behind the counter that I have never seen before. This gentleman wore no uniform, was middle aged, and I believe Korean. He assisted the family before me with the slowness of a snail and took up quite a bit of time especially since there were others, besides me, waiting in line behind them. At the register, he comped the family's meal and handed out free pokebox cards to each and every family member that was before me and handing it out clearly so that all of the customers could see. This did not perturb me because they could have easily been friends of his and he wanted to make a nice gesture; however, he could have discretely handed the family those cards without having the other guests behind the family feel like we're not appreciated. Once I approached the register, the man looked at me with a look and asked if I had made an order. He looked at me as if I had come up to the register without ordering anything and did not know the process of how to receive and order my food, which I clearly had done and wanted to pay. It was his mistake to have given my order to the family before without checking if my order was included with theirs. He did not apologize and just went on to say that he was going to make another one for me without even asking me what I had ordered. He walked away and came back again to ask me what I wanted. The family came back with my order and apologized, which was not necessary due to the fact that the man made the mistake, and did not offer an apology, a discount, even though I wouldn't have though that he need to give me one, or a comp on the meal. He swiftly just handed me my card with a cold tension and proceeded to hand me my food. The biggest problems that I experienced was his lack of apology for making the mistakes he made and not treating myself and the other guests with the same courtesy, genuinity, and warmth that he showed to the family that he had rung up. I usually go to this business for my meal break, but if I ever see him working at this space, I will not walk in to order my meals.
