I am somewhat new to Poke...so take this with a serious grain of salt. This place looks like a typical franchise strip mall business. Clean, put together, and boring. Now that may sound like I'm slamming the place...but I'm not. I just don't find cookie cutter perfectuon visually interesting is all...though I do very much appreciate the cleanliness. Now I went in here 40 minutes before closing time. I was fully prepared to be greeted with that typical food server unenthusiastic attitude you often receive when most places are in their "pre" closing processes. That was not the case! The woman who greeted me had a big and very welcoming, genuine smile. Which...honestly made me blush a bit...in a good way. She asked what I'd like and when I explained that it was my first time there...she immediately stopped what she was doing ("pre" closing!) and begin explaining how to order and what the choices were and the toppings to choose, etc. When I asked what she liked or recommended she asked a few questions and answered with great suggestions. Now as I stated earlier, I'm somewhat new to Poke...so haven't learned the difference between good, great or mediocre Poke. So what I got was their big bowl with Sushi rice and 2 portions of Spicey Tuna and 1 portion of the Ahi Tuna. I got all their toppings, which are many and several types of pickled items I have no clue as to what they were...and the woman recommended I try their house special sauce. I was very happy with all the items...everything tasted fresh, was distinct in flavor and very delicious! I know I will be back here again! No matter the day or time, this place is ALWAYS closed when we go. Weekday at 12 for lunch? Door locked, lights off, no one inside. Saturday at 5pm? Door wide open. People inside. Walk in only for them to tell us they're "closed early." No reason or explanation. (Or apology) Just told us to leave while the employees were chatting and laughing behind the counter. Two hours before closing time according to the posted operating hours on their door, on a weekend right before dinner time?? This is BY FAR my favorite poke place I've ever had. I have tried all of our poke spots from Salinas to Marina to Monterey. The owner (shame on me for not asking her her name) is AWESOME. I absolutely love the bowls and enjoy creating my own goodness every time we go. The flavors are amazing. My kiddo (he's 8) creates his own bowls as well. I'm always excited to see what he picks! I've been here several times. Food is consistently fresh and tasty; place is always kept very clean. They have a good collection of "signature bowls" and the "build your own" option isn't too weighed down with a million options like some other poke places. They strike a good balance. Their sizing of small, med, and large always seems about right and fairly priced as well. I usually get med., and I never go away hungry, that's for sure. Minor nits: - their prices seem more appropriate for Silicon Valley than for Marina - last time I went it seemed like their fish was cut up into smaller cubes - they've used covid as an excuse to close down bathrooms. Several times I came to see if they had opened yet, so I was happy when I went again this week. The place is very clean and the staff is friendly, nice atmosphere. They have so many options to choose from, and so you can keep making your bowl interesting every time you try something new. The portions are big, I was completely stuffed after my medium bowl. This place is very open and appears very clean. The food was good. It was odd (in a negative way) to us that the rice is served warm when the entire bowl is cold. We got two signature bowls and a Create Your Own large bowl. For fast food it was a great healthy option. It was slightly pricey though. This Poke Bar is the best on the Peninsula! I drive there from Carmel just to get the best and freshest ingredients. There is a huge selection of "mixes and fish". I usually love this place but i don't know what it is, maybe it's the new staff or just the lack of training but the customer service has gotten worst over time. I've had some amazing servers and sometimes others just don't seem to comprehend certain directions. Their food is usually good but literally some of their staff are not the brightest. I have been been overcharged for additional add ons that i normally don't get charged for? It's like the employees all know something different. Eh. been to almost all poke places in Monterey, so i decided to try this one. got the large. Portion wise, the to-go box was filled 2/3 of the way. *roll eyes* the fish was cut into 1/2 inch squares, so you don't get much. It looks like you do because there are so many LITTLE pieces, otherwise, IMHO, rip off. The best place I've had a poke bowl was POKE TIME in Monterey off Lighthouse. HUGE portions, lots of choices. I had the large, with white rice, salmon, tuna, wasabi mayo, edemame and some of their house sauce. Absolutely awful, the salmon was okay, but the tuna was of the worse quality. Not even remotely close to sushi (raw) grade. It had that you know... not fresh fishy taste. I finally had to pull out the tuna and throw it away, ate what was left of the salmon and then threw the rest in the trash as the wasabi mayo was so overpoweringly mayo tasting that it was not edible to me. I've been to the Poke lab in Marina and it's fantastic, and I was hoping that this Poke bar would be as good since it's closer to my home, only a couple miles over, unfortunately we've had to cross this one off the list of places to eat at this time due to the extreme lack in quality of the tuna they are trying to pass off as being okay to eat raw. read more

PROs: It was tasty! I had the Medium bowl (1.5 scoop of rice and 4 different fish) and it was more than enough for 1 person. They mix the fish in a stainless steel bowl. They have extra items you can add to your meal the other poke places don't offer. The place is neat and cozy. Staff was friendly. Open every day. Plus, they have coconuts! Like, you get to drink coconut juice straight from the coconut... with a straw, of course! LOL :) So awesome CONs: Parking is challenging since you got Chipotle, Smash Burger, Starbucks, etc. in the same area. It's also a bit pricier than some of the other poke places. BONUS: They play Hawaiian music! Makes you more homesick, but at least you can sing along while you think about the beach and how much you want to escape the cold :) read more

First time here and I've never been to a poke bar so I didn't know what to expect. Food seems very fresh. They start with size, base ie rice, seaweed salad, crab, proteins, other things to mix in. I really liked this Poke restaurant. I've been to the Poke Lab, but this one is much closer to me and I would definitely come back again. For just under $10, you can get a scoop of rice, salad mix or half and half. I got half and half and with the size small, you get 2 proteins. I got the salmon and spicy tuna. My toppings included the complimentary seaweed salad, crab, and then edamame, masago, cucumber and ginger. I had all this mixed with the spicy sauce they have. It was all pretty generous portions and everything was delicious. I also got a cup of miso soup and I was impressed with the fact that it had giant squares of tofu with seaweed and green onion. The prices are reasonable, portions are reasonable and the selection was great. The inside was very clean and the employees were polite and worked quickly to get everyone's order done in a timely fashion. I highly recommend this Poke restaurant if you're in this area. My new favorite food is poke bowls. It's everything that's great in a white girl sushi roll, but in a bowl. This place has all the proteins I need (I think there's like 6), seaweed salad, crab salad, and enough sauces to make it interesting. You'd be surprised how rare it is to be able to check off everything on my needs list (they don't have unagi sauce, but I can manage with everything else they have). Another note - most poke places pile everything in top of itself, this place kind of puts everything side by side. No preference either way, just something to note. Oh! I read the reviews and I'm a little surprised by some of the responses; however, I can only speak for mine, and they were all consistent. I am not a huge fried or baked seafood fan and steer clear of most sushi joints and ready made sushi for fear of it being slimy and well "fishy"; however, this was not the case. When I walked into the restaurant it smelled like sea water. That's a plus for me! I have been to a lot of sushi and seafood resteraunts and the smell is not exactly welcoming. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I had five children with me ranging from 9-16 and they all love sushi and love Poke Bar. The staff took their time with them and let them sample anything they wanted. This is our new dinner spot. The prices are a little more than you would pay for a combo at a drive through, but who is expecting to pay that price? Although a kid price bowl would be awesome. A bowl for the 9 year old that can't finish a small and surly can't save it lol... hint hint hint I love the toppings and options for the Poke. When I first came I wasn't sure I wanted to do seafood, so they gave me extra rice and all the toppings, sauces, and mix-in's my heart could hold. They allowed me to mix and experiment without complaining. They even offered suggestions! Another thought or suggestion... a 6.95 option for those that don't use seafood or tofu. Just a thought lol! Although I wouldn't be disappointed if it was ignored because the amount of food I got was perfect despite that time I left off the protein. Every time we have been the food has been amazingly fresh. I never tasted anything fishy in my bowl and my kids have sophisticated palates and would have immediately complained if something was off or not fresh. This is my favorite Poke Bar in Monterey county, by far. Freshest fish and other ingredients. As a pescatarian, it truly matters to me where I eat. The Salmon is so fresh it melts in your mouth like butter! I'm also a big fan of the scallops and Tuna. Note, their spicy tuna really is spicy, it's good, but you'll be sniffing the whole way through it :) I feel the portion sizes are generous and for the money I pay, a value. We have a dog and the owner cared so much she put some outdoor seating for us! Now that's Service! Checkout the wall mural, I learned a lot about the local Fort Ord history. Probably one of the best Poke I have ever had. I got a big bowl and chose "half & half" base (brown rice and spring salad). On top, I added salmon, tuna and scallops and several healthy veggy toppings. Their secret dressing (with a recommended mix by the "chef") was unbelievable... all the pieces of fresh fishes were just melting in my mouth like sashimi.
