Best Poke that we have had in N.C. and TN. We visit here every time we are in town. Friendly service and fresh Poke.

Amazing food. Great portions, for under $20.00 pretty good place for seafood!…read moreI have never tried Poke before but goodness this one really is a great find. Delicious and the umami of the fish radiates on the whole bowl. Amazing flavor and just right for my very picky tastebuds. We also had the special of the day which is Fried oysters and my husband had Fish of the day. They can get really busy when we first came in the first lady was quiet busy with other things and she didn't quite talk to us right away. I was beginning to get worried since i have experienced this is some businesses nearby, but when she was available she was pleasant to us and made sure our order was correct. The kids also had Mochiko fried chicken and Tacos shredded chicken. They said they liked it. It gets busy so if you don't want to seat outside in the heat make sure you come at 11:00 am.

While I went in and wanted to order fish Tacos, the menu was fried fish (which My preference is not to be fried)....they offered to not fry it....but it didn't seem like a normal practice so I pivoted on my selection. We both ordered Tuna Poke Bowls ($14) and we were not disappointed! Fresh and tasty!

Excellent meal with an excellent view…read more We made reservations on Thursday, for Friday at 6:30, a party for 5. If you want to get in during high traffic times, definitely call 24-hours ahead. We were seated within 15-minutes of our arrival, in the dining room with a lovely view of the harbor. We noticed most tables had a nice view due to the very open floor plan concept. Our server was lovely: attentive, helpful and pleasant. She patiently answered questions and returned often to check on us, making sure our water glasses were full. It's the little touch's that make a wonderful dining experience. We began our meal sharing the calamari. Really well prepared and quite flavorful. So enjoyed the little peppers and aioli drizzle. Very flavorful. Everyone in our party of 5 was quite pleased with their meals. Our 10-year old granddaughter loved the fries and chose an appetizer chicken wings for her entree. The portion was quite large and tasty. Beware, the dipping sauce ranch has a kick, which she didn't prefer but we enjoyed. My husband and I shared the grand slam seafood trio. Each seafood item was perfectly prepared. With fries and coleslaw, it was more than we could finish. He added a side salad which was very fresh and I had creamy clam chowder (good but not as hot as ai prefer.) Our daughter and friend raved about their fried fish and pork chop diners. 4/5 of us took home leftovers. The view.... So relaxing and peaceful. Our bill came to $188 (without any drinks.). The tab was worth it for a complete fine dining experience (with no need to dress to the nines; it's the beach after all).

It has always been good, and we definitely won't let this deter us from returning. Ms T had her usual Shrimp basket lunch. The issue was that the shrimp were not cooked through. They were still translucent. We totally understand not wanting to overcook shrimp, but these were not quite done. On the bright side she commented on how good the slaw was. I have been on a kick to try barbecue at restaurants that are not barbecue joints per se, to see if I can find some hidden gems. For example, both Sam & Omie's and Wanchese Marina serve a good barbecue sandwich. Black Pelican, at least on this day, does not. I must say, the serving was huge. This was more than enough for two meals for me. The barbecue was dry and not well flavored. The texture and flavor was more like dried out beef that has been over-roasted. This is not something I would order again here. All that being said, I am leaving the rating for Black Pelican as it is because we have always had good meals here. I accept that it can't be 100% perfect every time and sooner or later we will run into something that is less than stellar. We will continue to return. I just know this not where I will have barbecue and we are sure the shrimp thing was just a one timer.

We beat the crowds and got a table on the upstairs patio. It technically looks out over the ocean, though from our spot, it was mostly a view of the sand! We ordered their famous recommended dish and said it was amazing. My Salmon was great too! The only downside? The service really went downhill after the food arrived. Despite being the only ones on the patio, our waiter never checked back in. A couple of waitresses were just hanging out by the bar on their phones, too. Eventually, one of them noticed our cleared plates, asked about dessert, and just brought the bill. No "how was everything?" or "can I get you anything else?"--which was a bummer for such a highly recommended spot!
