Best Poke that we have had in N.C. and TN. We visit here every time we are in town. Friendly service and fresh Poke.

Updating my review to further express how great their açaí bowls are. This time I ordered online…read morefor pick up. The online ordering system isn't great (see below), however, I eventually found what I was looking for and called to adjust the pick up time. Since the large wasn't available, I chose regular for one bowl and mega for the other. I also paid for extra granola for both. Although the toppings look skimpy, we were pleasantly surprised to find the extra granola at the bottom of the regular bowl. Then the mega bowl was basically a double decker acai bowl. Acai on the bottom with selected toppings then more acai resting under another layer of the selected toppings. It's definitely worth it to get the mega bowl. They also make good smoothies and use compostable materials. Our orders have been accurate and filling. Plus the employees are friendly. Issues with the online ordering: -I couldn't adjust the pick-up time. Even though they were open for another 5 hours, the only option for pick up was next day at 9:30 am. I called after placing the order and they said they could make the order right away. -large perfect bowl is not an option (all other sizes were available) -special bowl options are confusing. No option for granola but there is an option for extra granola. No description for what it contains yet you can remove items. -many of the items do not have descriptions, luckily I had been here before so I knew what the perfect bowl entailed

Excellent. We come here every time we vacation. Make a reservation!…read more The oyster shooter and the shrimp and grits are two of my favorites and you also cannot go wrong with their oyster selection. Drinks are on point, service is quick, and the view of the sound is lovely. For the non-seafood lovers, their salads and burgers are good too!

Blue Water Grill has never let us down. This seemed like a good place for lunch on Valentine's Day…read more It was sunny and bright, and the restaurant's windows provide a great view. We shared a cup of Shrimp and Roasted Red Pepper soup from the daily specials. It was delicious, with a little tartness that gave it backbone. Perhaps from sour cream. It was perhaps a little bit overthickened but was short of pasty and we enjoyed it. I would have been happy with a bowl of this for my lunch, but I had other plans. The decision is easy for Ms T. I know before we leave the house that she is ordering fried shrimp and they are excellent here. They are large, plump, tender, flavorful and cooked just right. They don't have a silly heavy batter. Lately we have had at least three instances of undercooked shrimp. These were perfect. They were accompanied by a mound of very good French fries and some acceptable slaw. The sauce for the shrimp is a very good, mustardy sauce. I ordered Baja tacos, blackened and did not regret it. They are served in nicely toasted flour tortillas with cabbage for crunch and a creamy sauce. The mahi was seasoned and blackened well. It is served with a good roasted tomato sauce and some beans over rice. My only regret is that I should have asked them to omit the onion laced pico de gallo. Two large tacos were too much so one came home with me. This was a great lunch for Valentines's day.

For the first time ever, we had some disappointments at Black Pelican. We have lunch or dinner…read moreduring most of our twice-per-year visits to the area. It has always been good, and we definitely won't let this deter us from returning. Ms T had her usual Shrimp basket lunch. The issue was that the shrimp were not cooked through. They were still translucent. We totally understand not wanting to overcook shrimp, but these were not quite done. On the bright side she commented on how good the slaw was. I have been on a kick to try barbecue at restaurants that are not barbecue joints per se, to see if I can find some hidden gems. For example, both Sam & Omie's and Wanchese Marina serve a good barbecue sandwich. Black Pelican, at least on this day, does not. I must say, the serving was huge. This was more than enough for two meals for me. The barbecue was dry and not well flavored. The texture and flavor was more like dried out beef that has been over-roasted. This is not something I would order again here. All that being said, I am leaving the rating for Black Pelican as it is because we have always had good meals here. I accept that it can't be 100% perfect every time and sooner or later we will run into something that is less than stellar. We will continue to return. I just know this not where I will have barbecue and we are sure the shrimp thing was just a one timer.

I want to start with the service- it was phenomenal…read more The food however, is beyond sub par. It's not awful. But it's not good. At all. The rice and veggies are frozen. The flounder is straight breading. I did not get a single full bite of fish. The shrimp was okay. Fries were great. My issue is the price for the quality of what you're getting. I would never come back to this place
