I was honestly shocked when the guy knocked. The pork fried rolls were decent run of the mill egg rolls with Thai chili sauce. The pas Thai, while not authentic, had really good flavor and I would gladly order again The bad: the papaya salad was flavorless, the fresh rolls fell apart the second you touched them and had so much ice berg lettuce in them they were ere noodles and ice burg. I enjoyed it. It was the epitome of what I normally think of as asian fusion in my weird brain. I had the sesame chicken, which was tempura battered, kinda like sweet and sour chicken is usually done at a Chinese takeout place, but the chicken was long strips, which is something I sometimes encounter when ordering sesame chicken, and is honestly preferable to little chunks. The sauce was flavorful and not too sweet. It was served with some broccoli, which hit the veggie spot nicely. I also ordered the peppercorn pork belly skewers, and they were well worth the price of admission ($7.50, I think). Tender pork belly chunks with a nice peppery but slightly sweet sauce, service on a bed of rice with some carrot strips and greens thrown into the mix. The food at Poks is TO DIE FOR!!!! I've ordered Pad Thai the past few times I have come in and it never disappoints. As a gluten free vegetarian they are supper accommodating to my preferences. I would dip my first born child in the peanut sauce. I put peanut sauce on EVERYTHING! If they ever sell it in bottles I am the first investor!!! Second up to peanut sause is pad Thai, spring rolls, fresh rolls, and seaweed!!!! The service is 10/10. The food is over the top but it is the personable experience I got from the cooks and delivery driver that made this my favorite go to. The delivery driver gets its to you at the speed of light, never have I waited more then 30 minutes and the food is always hot! I make sure to tip above and beyond because they have blown the 20% standard out of this world. You would be a lucky woman to have this staff serve you. read more

I Loved this place! I went here randomly for lunch and got a Tuna Poke bowl to go. As i was leaving i decided i would actually just eat my food at the table outside and enjoy the weather. While sitting outside the woman who was working came out and brought me some watermelon she was enjoying for lunch as well. What a nice suprise and a yummy treat! Third time was not a charm at Pok's. We previously have enjoyed our Thai Curries and Pad Thai. This time we went with more Chinese dishes, Mixed Vegetables with chicken and Asparagus Chicken. I am knocking off a star for these. They were bland offerings like we find in the ubiquitous strip mall chains with two-word names (pick two from China, Express, King, Wok, New, Happy, Golden, Panda, Garden, etc). You honestly will get just as good of food at China King down by Food Lion. However, you can't get the Thai offerings at China King. Pok's is recommended for the Thai dishes. Ordered delivery and they were super quick, under 30 minutes. I enjoyed the fresh shrimp rolls and fried spring rolls. I didn't see any peanut sumauce for the fresh rolls, which was a bummer. First time eating here. Food was absolutely amazing!!! My fiancé and I split an order of shrimp spring rolls. They were very fresh tasting and the peanut sauce was well balanced and very tasty. This place will not disappoint you! I'm so proud that it was my first dine in experience since the COVID and boy did they hit the spot! From experience and being Asian, most Asian places in unpopulated Asian areas taste bland and feel like it's to cater the greater American taste buds. I kid you not, the taste stays true to Asian cuisine. I ordered the papaya salad and whooo! Let me tell you! I've had Thai and Lao style and in reality those contain some funk (shrimp and crab paste) in it, but here it contained less and still managed to bring out the savory, sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavor in it. I loved it! My husband had their pho beef and he as well enjoyed it. It didn't taste like Vietnamese pho but tasted like beef "phosoy" ka-soy like. It felt like a Vietnamese infused with Thai Lao style. It's definitely worth trying! My niece had the general tsos shrimp. It was soo good that I almost ate all her food! Planned on it being an in house restaurant we went a bit early to beat the crowds...needless to say we had no problems finding a table because there were only 2 tables. It was fine though. Great menu and the owner/chef was there and we talked quite a bit, very nice man. We ordered the fried veggie spring rolls absolutely delicious. (All made in house), I ordered the cashew chicken, very fresh nice vegetables, pineapple fried rice with pork also extremely good. Pork Ramen: dry & flavorless. disappointment. pork had potential but too dry. broth had no flavor. Chicken Skewers: very lightly seasoned...at least the rice was flavorful from ponzu sauce. I just have to say. This place has taken the spot for the number 1 Thai place in my heart. And that's saying a lot, considering I try Thai everywhere I go. I know they've got other fusion dishes, but haven't tried those yet. What we did try, though, was the papaya salad, spring rolls, and Thai basil chicken. And it was so freaking delicious that we had to come back the next night. The place is unassuming and simple, but that's part of the charm. They don't need over the top decor and tens of servers to give you an outstanding dinner. You can eat there -- just let them know and they'll serve your dinner on plates, by the way. My only warning is that the papaya salad runs a little hotter than other dishes. A medium was too hot for us, so we opted for mild the next day. It still had a kick, but not the kind that makes your eyes water. It was the perfect balance of heat, salt, tang, umami, nuttiness and freshness. I literally wish I could eat this salad for lunch every day for the rest of my life. Being from the DMV, we thought the prices were great for the level of care that went into designing and preparing each dish. Pok and his kitchen staff are killing it here. In the best way. I'd give 5 stars for the personality, service, and hospitality. But the foods are 2-star at best. Pho broth was not properly composed (i.e. Not clear), while the beef in the pho was well over cooked and chewy! No one uses shredded carrots in Pho. I guess it's a "fusion" thing here but NOT a recommended or good one. Most of the herbs that go with a pho bowl are missing. The Vietnamese spring rolls were not properly rolled and therefore broke apart. There was no fish sauce or peanut sauce that come with the dishes, rather just hoisin that came straight from the bottle and sriracha...a poor attempt at substitution. The larb was good with well balanced lime flavor. The beef and sticky rice again came with over cooked beef. The Thai combination fried rice was very soggy and wet, but also very bland...which was very surprising to me! Usually it is very fragrant and full of herb and seasoning flavors of SE Asia. read more

My parent's have a second home in Duck and I have been coming down to Duck my whole life. My boyfriend and I are here for the weekend, and we're both coming down with a cold, so we googled "pho" nearby. Pok's in Kitty Hawk popped up as the only place with pho, so we drove there from Duck. But once we looked at their menu, we decided on lemongrass soups instead. We each got one (chicken ones) and they were awesome. My throat and sinuses felt immediately better while eating this wonderful lemongrass soup and my boyfriend said the same thing. Absolutely delicious. For my entree, I got cashew chicken and it was full of fresh veggies, whole cashews, and chunks of pineapple. It was perfect. So fresh and delicious! I love how they give you the option of white or brown rice too (we both got brown-it was perfect). My boyfriend got the general Taos chicken and loved it. When I came in here, I have to admit I was just expecting your typical take out Asian food joint. But this place is something special. True Asian gourmet food. We were trying for pizza next door but they were closed so we saw this place and decided to give it a shot instead. We were pleasantly surprised! There were only two tables so I'm sure their normal customers just order takeout, but they were very accommodating of us and we got our food super quickly. I got the chicken catsu and it was crunchier then I am used to but still delicious. The macaroni salad was good too but I'm not a fan of pickled veggies so I left them alone. I'm not sure if prices down here are higher in general than back home (we're on vacation from Maryland) but it seemed high for what we got. We pay the same at home for the hibachi experience. I would say hit and miss, just ordered about 90 minutes ago for pick up. 1) NOT ONE EMPLOYEE WEARING A MASK! Man I hope I don't get covid from this. Some of the food was good some was not. Wonton soup good but they never gave me a spoon for it and did not realize it until we got back to hotel. Katsu chicken over cooked but some pieces that were not overcooked were good. The macaroni salad good as was the cucbumber salad. Beef sticks lacked flavor but dipping them in the fried dumpling sauce made them better. The fried won tons, my wife liked, I did not.
