I quite literally found this place by aimlessly moving my mouse around on Google Maps until something caught my eye. Suddenly I found myself in Redondo enjoying a hefty bowl of Poke. Definitely my most entertaining way to find spots without an algorithm. I have a very particular distaste for any "non-traditional" Poke restaurant. A traditional spot will have their fish laid out in metal containers marinating in its flavours for who-knows-how-long and then you'd go through the sampling process and leave with a bowl of rice topped with furikake and some great fish on the side. Simple stuff that I prefer for Poke. That's not what this place is, and it makes me all the more impressed that I didn't hate Poke Rainbow. In fact it's the first one that I quite enjoyed. Right now you can't directly walk in; they have a lot of clipboards and pens available for you to disorient yourself with the seemingly infinite number of options available to choose from. While I had no trouble filling my order form out, I can see this being an unfortunate accessibility issue for those who either haven't had Poke before, or those who have fallen victim to the paradox of choice. This is probably going to resolve itself as California starts to reopen. It's very, very welcoming to see fish on the menu that ISN'T salmon or tuna - in fact I was so surprised to see baked eel on the menu that I had to get it (was up to expectations with its melty factors). I like to keep my bowls very simple to let the fish speak for itself, but I did opt in for seaweed salad and other neutral toppings. Despite this, I was still given a bowl with an extra topping I didn't ask for - crispy onion - but that wasn't a huge knock off this review. I will say the sauces were a bit weak compared to a traditional poke spot but still leagues ahead of a non-traditional spot. The rice was very good. I normally wouldn't write about rice but it was soft and fragrant. Just unsure what kinda rice it was. Definitely some quality stuff. I used chopsticks and it kept its form. I will be coming back! I'll note that Poke Rainbow is now mentioned in EaterLA so that's a huge kudos to the business. Congrats! Random notes: The staff was very, very friendly. They were also confidently playing some fun music (I sat outside to eat and was enjoying the staff battle for the aux). I heard Japanese citypop classics like "Stay With Me" which then switched to a Naruto theme song and then some other new songs I've heard through TikTok. Was in the area after a hike and craving poke and this place showed up when I did a quick search. Normally, I would go to Jus' Poke but I was in the mood for something new and decided to try Poke Rainbow. Parking can be a headache if you come at the wrong times because even if there are ample metered parking all around, the spots get taken up crazy fast. I looped a few times before deciding to park at a nearby grocery lot. The ordering process was simple and quick. There are clipboards outside on a table and you fill it out with provided pens. If you want a sauce or topping on the side, you can note that and they'll happily fulfill as requested. Waiting time for a bowl was a bit longer than I expected with 2 parties ahead of me when I arrived. I think I waited around 15min? The portions are alright for the price. The size of the poke is decent though, but I wouldn't get the small next time. It would be more worth it to get a medium and split. There's a stamp card you can get which is nice since the reward for 10 bowls of any size is a medium bowl. Would come again to try the medium on a day that isn't as busy. read more

3-1/2 stars (bumping up for location and service). I'm used to going to Jus' Poke for my poke fix, but I came across Poke Rainbow closer to home and decided to give it a go. It's also in the heart of Riviera Village, which is a gorgeous part of Redondo Beach, just around the corner from the beach itself. Poke Rainbow offers plenty of options, more so than Jus' Poke with its choices of rice, sides, and especially its meat options (not just limited to poke, but also other seafood). I opted for scallops and eel along with my ahi tuna. The downside is that there are only two flavors for ahi tuna (regular and spicy), which should be the focus of a shop serving poke, after all. A small bowl is around $11.95, which is two dollars more than what you can get at Jus' Poke. The portions are smaller, too. I was still full afterwards, but given that I'd been spoiled by Jus' Poke's portions and prices, it made it hard to justify Poke Rainbow's. Quality-wise, the ahi tuna was interesting: instead of large, ruby chunks of fish, it was strangely mashed up into a paste. Not bad, but not what I was expecting for poke that I've had before. The eel was fine, but the scallops were NOT good: they had the texture of popping boba, and I felt they were frozen. Do NOT get scallops here. Service was efficient and friendly, but overall, I felt the poke was subpar. I also praise the shop for its location closer to home (and the beach), but I think I'll stick with Jus' Poke from now on. read more

Everyone likes the bad news first so lemme hit you with it now. The avocado is $2 extra. I know. That's almost like chipotle level bad for extra cost, and at least chipotle turns it into guacamole. I have been here at least once a month and they are always missing a thing or two but I met the owner Billy and he was a very nice guy and every time he is here, the poke is better. We live in the area and wanted to support this poke place here. When the owner is not here, this place is complete chaos!! The manager ended up saying "I have resolved the situation to my satisfaction so you may leave the restaurant now". We have not enough finished eating! He accused us of trying to get free food and didn't show proof? It took SO LONG (30 minutes) and had to start eating as we had a kid. It ended with 6 things missing including cilantro, edamame, crispy onion in addition to missing crab salad, kimchi and masago AND wrong sauce. Super salty! No spicy mayo. I decided to get some food delivered to me for lunch one afternoon and while yelping, I thought I'd give this place a try! Honestly, the best decision I've made so far this week because Poke Rainbow just became my favorite poke place. I got a large poke bowl because usually at other stores, large is usually what I order and can finish but when this bowl came, I opened it and I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it. I've never seen poke so filled to the brim. It's not even a poke bowl at this point. It's a large container of poke. My extra directions were extra sauce and extra pineapples. As you can see in the image, there was quite a bit of sauce which made me so so happy. Their fish was fresh, seaweed salad was tasty as usual and so far they are one of the few poke places I know that has eel sauce. And I love eel sauce. Why I give this four stars is that in some bites, the rice felt undercooked but it wasn't throughout the entire bowl so I can't really complain.
