I quite literally found this place by aimlessly moving my mouse around on Google Maps until something caught my eye. Suddenly I found myself in Redondo enjoying a hefty bowl of Poke. Definitely my most entertaining way to find spots without an algorithm. I have a very particular distaste for any "non-traditional" Poke restaurant. A traditional spot will have their fish laid out in metal containers marinating in its flavours for who-knows-how-long and then you'd go through the sampling process and leave with a bowl of rice topped with furikake and some great fish on the side. Simple stuff that I prefer for Poke. That's not what this place is, and it makes me all the more impressed that I didn't hate Poke Rainbow. In fact it's the first one that I quite enjoyed. Right now you can't directly walk in; they have a lot of clipboards and pens available for you to disorient yourself with the seemingly infinite number of options available to choose from. While I had no trouble filling my order form out, I can see this being an unfortunate accessibility issue for those who either haven't had Poke before, or those who have fallen victim to the paradox of choice. This is probably going to resolve itself as California starts to reopen. It's very, very welcoming to see fish on the menu that ISN'T salmon or tuna - in fact I was so surprised to see baked eel on the menu that I had to get it (was up to expectations with its melty factors). I like to keep my bowls very simple to let the fish speak for itself, but I did opt in for seaweed salad and other neutral toppings. Despite this, I was still given a bowl with an extra topping I didn't ask for - crispy onion - but that wasn't a huge knock off this review. I will say the sauces were a bit weak compared to a traditional poke spot but still leagues ahead of a non-traditional spot. The rice was very good. I normally wouldn't write about rice but it was soft and fragrant. Just unsure what kinda rice it was. Definitely some quality stuff. I used chopsticks and it kept its form. I will be coming back! I'll note that Poke Rainbow is now mentioned in EaterLA so that's a huge kudos to the business. Congrats! Random notes: The staff was very, very friendly. They were also confidently playing some fun music (I sat outside to eat and was enjoying the staff battle for the aux). I heard Japanese citypop classics like "Stay With Me" which then switched to a Naruto theme song and then some other new songs I've heard through TikTok. It's always great to see a staff having fun where they work. Great culture there. read more

Was in the area after a hike and craving poke and this place showed up when I did a quick search. Normally, I would go to Jus' Poke but I was in the mood for something new and decided to try Poke Rainbow. Parking can be a headache if you come at the wrong times because even if there are ample metered parking all around, the spots get taken up crazy fast. I looped a few times before deciding to park at a nearby grocery lot. The ordering process was simple and quick. There are clipboards outside on a table and you fill it out with provided pens. If you want a sauce or topping on the side, you can note that and they'll happily fulfill as requested. Waiting time for a bowl was a bit longer than I expected with 2 parties ahead of me when I arrived. I think I waited around 15min? The portions are alright for the price. The size of the poke is decent though, but I wouldn't get the small next time. It would be more worth it to get a medium and split. There's a stamp card you can get which is nice since the reward for 10 bowls of any size is a medium bowl. Would come again to try the medium on a day that isn't as busy. read more

3-1/2 stars (bumping up for location and service). I'm used to going to Jus' Poke for my poke fix, but I came across Poke Rainbow closer to home and decided to give it a go. It's also in the heart of Riviera Village, which is a gorgeous part of Redondo Beach, just around the corner from the beach itself. Poke Rainbow offers plenty of options, more so than Jus' Poke with its choices of rice, sides, and especially its meat options (not just limited to poke, but also other seafood). I opted for scallops and eel along with my ahi tuna. The downside is that there are only two flavors for ahi tuna (regular and spicy), which should be the focus of a shop serving poke, after all. A small bowl is around $11.95, which is two dollars more than what you can get at Jus' Poke. The portions are smaller, too. I was still full afterwards, but given that I'd been spoiled by Jus' Poke's portions and prices, it made it hard to justify Poke Rainbow's. Quality-wise, the ahi tuna was interesting: instead of large, ruby chunks of fish, it was strangely mashed up into a paste. Not bad, but not what I was expecting for poke that I've had before. The eel was fine, but the scallops were NOT good: they had the texture of popping boba, and I felt they were frozen. Do NOT get scallops here. Service was efficient and friendly, but overall, I felt the poke was subpar. I also praise the shop for its location closer to home (and the beach), but I think I'll stick with Jus' Poke from now on. read more

The poke itself is delicious, but I am done paying highest price ever and getting such skimpy portions on the sides. 3rd time here and again, seaweed salad was 2 bites, same with the cucumber salad. Cost over $50 for 2 mediums and very disappointed they are so cheap on the serving. read more

Very yummy!! Definitely worth going to and it looks like it's a small business. At first it felt a little strange to fill out your order on a sheet before you walk in but my teenage daughter really loves this place so I went with the flow. Service was sweet and nice!! We went for dinner. My daughter goes during lunch time with her friends and she thinks she's met the owner. Only reason why I'm noting it is bc she says every single time he's very sweet and nice. So that plus yummy food and it's in the RB Riviera makes it a perfect place to go read more

Some of the best poke I've had in the LA area! I especially liked the salmon. The serving size is good for the price, especially with the unlimited toppings. The staff was also exceptionally friendly. It's got a few indoor tables and outdoor seating as well. The place also sells some Japanese snacks and soft drinks. Even though I've left California to go back to school, every time I travel back to CA for breaks/trips, I make an effort to come down to Redondo for Poke Rainbow. Even if I'm staying 45 minutes away, I drive down here for my favorite poke bowl spot. The fresh ingredients, large portions, and ability to fully customize make this my all time fav food spot. HANDS DOWN BEST POKE SPOT Super premium ingredients. Amazing toppings and the fact that you can pick more than one talking and all you want is amazing. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. And location is very clean and a prime spot. One staff member, Jessica went out of her way to make sure our pokey bowl. Everyone likes the bad news first so lemme hit you with it now. The avocado is $2 extra. I know. That's almost like chipotle level bad for extra cost, and at least chipotle turns it into guacamole. So keeping that in mind, I did not get the avocado because I'm not balling like that (maybe one day though I hope). However, that's where the bad news ends. The actual bowl itself was fantastic. The rice base had a good consistency and texture without being to dry or mushy. The fish tasted like raw fish. The sauces were punchy but not overpowering, and the cucumber and crispy garlic gave everything a really nice crunch. Also as a pro tip (because I'm a professional poke rainbow eater based on my one experience here), get the poke and walk the two blocks to the beach. It's a beautiful view of the ocean and you can think about all the family members of the fish you're currently eating just hanging out in the water still... or potentially being eaten by your friends who also got bowls read more

Terrible service from the manager CJ! Messed up my entire order. I attached my order in this review. At first glance, it was missing masago, crab salad and kimchi. I had to ask for it. When I tasted it, it was completely the wrong sauce with no spicy mayo at all and SUPER salty! I have been here at least once a month and they are always missing a thing or two but I met the owner Billy and he was a very nice guy and every time he is here, the poke is better. We live in the area and wanted to support this poke place here. When the owner is not here, this place is complete chaos!! The manager ended up saying "I have resolved the situation to my satisfaction so you may leave the restaurant now". We have not enough finished eating! He accused us of trying to get free food and didn't show proof? It took SO LONG (30 minutes) and had to start eating as we had a kid. It ended with 6 things missing including cilantro, edamame, crispy onion in addition to missing crab salad, kimchi and masago AND wrong sauce. Super salty! No spicy mayo. As if we need to keep coming back and interrupting our meal for some sides?! Who does that? I told him we are regulars and never once raised our voices or were impolite to him. This is the worst we have ever been treated in any restaurant. So sad that it is from our local place. I was here on Sunday, June 5th 2022 at 2pm. read more

Good local poke for taking it to go and heading to the beach to watch the sunset. I ordered online to take it to go, and realized my order was wrong after I had already left. I ordered half rice and half salad for my base, but only received salad. Besides the inaccuracy, the portion side was worth the price. I got a medium bowl and ordered the Ahi Tuna, Salmon, Yellow Tail for my proteins, along with Crab Salad and Seaweed Salad for my sides and plenty of toppings. I thought the popular sauce combo was helpful since I never know what sauces to try. The bowl itself was very flavorful and delicious. Heard good things about Poke Rainbow from a friend and was excited to try. We went yesterday early evening, place was empty except for the guy behind the counter and a dishwasher in back. Immediately got a weird very unwelcoming vibe the moment I walked in so much it caught me off guard to the point I had to ask the guy if they were even open. His "hi" in response to mine had a tone like he didn't even know why I was even walking in. He asked me if I was there to order and I said yes and he told me I needed to go back outside and fill out the paper for my order and that I couldn't come up to the counter. Confused I asked what he meant and told him I had never been there before so wasn't sure how ordering worked, what they had. He told me to mark off the options on the paper and then when I was done to come back in. Still confused why I had to go outside he said I could sit at a chair by the door but couldn't come up to the plexiglass where he was doing his "work". I wanted to see what's what, what looks good, all the stuff that they have for options, which is why I thought they have everything behind a big plexiglass window!?! So weird. Everything was excellent, except the avocado I paid extra for. The avocado was dark and smashed. I had to throw it out. Aside from the avocado, I loved the yellowtail, ahi tuna, salmon and spicy tuna. The fish is very fresh! The sauce (spicy Mayo) had the perfect kick of flavor. I decided to get some food delivered to me for lunch one afternoon and while yelping, I thought I'd give this place a try! Honestly, the best decision I've made so far this week because Poke Rainbow just became my favorite poke place. I got a large poke bowl because usually at other stores, large is usually what I order and can finish but when this bowl came, I opened it and I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it. I've never seen poke so filled to the brim. It's not even a poke bowl at this point. It's a large container of poke. My extra directions were extra sauce and extra pineapples. As you can see in the image, there was quite a bit of sauce which made me so so happy. Their fish was fresh, seaweed salad was tasty as usual and so far they are one of the few poke places I know that has eel sauce. And I love eel sauce. Why I give this four stars is that in some bites, the rice felt undercooked but it wasn't throughout the entire bowl so I can't really complain. This poke was delicious and for the price and quantity, I think it was perfect. Highly recommend! read more

Typically, I finish my food. But the poke I got here was so unpleasant. The rice was poorly cooked, it was undercooked and overcooked at the same time. Also the fish lacked any flavor. To top it off it took 20 minutes to get my food. Safe to say I will not be coming back here. 0/10 read more

Solid poke bowls that are indeed as sizable as others have said. My large bowl over greens with a house/sesame shoyu/ginger shoyu combo was filling with fresh components. Compared to my favorite spots, I would've preferred larger cuts for the sashimi and a little less acidity from the sauce. Great value and wouldn't mind ordering again to try other toppings and sauce combinations. read more

Probably the best poke I've ever had. The fish was so fresh and so were all the toppings. I can't comment on customer service due to it being a DoorDash order, but dang was it good. I've had a lot of poke and this place beats all of them. I have yet to try poke in Hawaii so that will be the true test lol. They don't skimp on fish scoops and are also generous with toppings. The gentleman who is usually there (I believe he may be the owner, but I'm not sure) is always so nice and welcoming, not just to me but to everyone who comes in. Great customer service every time. There's seating both inside and outside, and overall it's just an easy, solid neighborhood spot. Grab a poke bowl, add a Spam musubi, and you're good to go. Another neighborhood gem!

I've tried both the chicken and pork (though not on the plate option), and both were excellent. This location used to be strictly take-out, but now there are two tables inside if you'd like to sit inside. I feel compelled to mention that when I recently visited this location, they had a health grade of B from LA County displayed in the window. Yelp shows that they had 14 health code violations on September 18. Usually, I don't show too much concern for these health scores, but when a restaurant's primary product is raw fish, a lower score gets my attention.

The chips that came with the dip were obviously freshly-made wontons and I could have eaten a hundred of them. The dip was good but not as flavorful as I had hoped or had in the past. For the chicken bowl, the rice and cucumbers that came with the chicken were excellent. You get a ton of mac salad and it is excellent. The chicken was solid, too. Unless they are hiding in plain sight, the places that just sell fresh poke, without the bowl, are few and far between in Southern California. During my recent visit to Poke Rainbow, my experience was unfortunately less than satisfactory. Firstly, my order did not include the toppings I had chosen, which was a significant letdown as customization is a crucial aspect of enjoying a poke bowl. Additionally, the salmon in my bowl was served warm, raising concerns about the freshness and safety of the raw fish, a fundamental element of poke. Furthermore, the interaction with the staff member who took my order was uncomfortable, as there was a noticeable smell of marijuana, which did not seem professional. Bad business! Waited close to 1.5 hours and called yelp. Was told driver left it "on the stairs." On the stairs from a raw fish restaurant! Absurd! Yelp said they couldnt do anything because (yelp said) the restaurant said the order was delivered! Absurd times 2! I demanded and received a refund. Rev 1: spoke with owner. Appears some problematic responsibility shared between restaurant and deliverer which may hv been the disconnect resulting in my failed order. Food here is amazing. I always forget to take picture before I eat. It's just so good I only remember to leave review after finishing what I ordered. I always get the Large poke bowl .
