Poke is one of the things I really miss about CA. There was a poke place on every corner it seems like and even though there are several poke places in DFW, I just didn't know where to start! Poke Stop is close to home and had decent reviews, so Jon G. and I decided to see what all the fuss was about. The storefront itself is very "Hole in the Wall" sized, but I don't mean that as a bad thing. I love little places like this and some of the best food I've eaten has come from similarly sized establishments. The painting on the wall is so fun and I loved all the string lights, paper lamps and other cool touches. It was pretty empty when we arrived, early afternoon time. We took a seat and checked out the menu. I ordered the Thai tea and got a canned version with a glass of ice. Don't get me wrong, I do like some of the canned stuff and I actually love the specific brand they brought, but it kinda sucks getting a canned bev I know I could have bought myself at the Asian market for .99 cents. As for food, my typical indecisive nature takes over and I end up doing the build your own bowl, that way I can just have it all, lol. Jon goes for classic Tonkotsu as well as some sushi, spicy tuna and salmon Nigiri. I filled out the slip of paper and asked the girl if there were any limits on toppings or anything. She told me there wasn't. I gave her my filled out slip and then the wait began. At this point, the place had filled to max capacity. I could see they were a bit over whelmed. Jon's sushi came out first followed quite quickly by his Tonkotsu, but my bowl was nowhere to be found. We waited, and waited and waited. I didn't want to be a nuisance, but when we saw 2 other table, who had just sat down when I had ordered, get served their poke before me, it was time to say something. I kept trying to get someone's attention but to no avail. Finally, Jon G. was able to wave down our waitress to ask about the poke bowl, as well as a salmon sushi we were missing. She leaves and a few minutes later, another gentleman comes to ask us what the problem was. We tell him the same thing we told our waitress, and he disappears to the back. At this point, I'm starting to think that they lost my "build your own bowl" sheet, when low and behold, my poke arrives. More than a few of the ingredients I marked were missing (Masago, avocado and edamame), despite that fact, the bowl itself was pretty tasty! I was relieved to find that the proteins I picked (Yellowtail and octopus) were plentiful, the mango was ripe, fried garlic was crunchy, and I liked the asparagus in it more than I thought I would. I do with that they wouldn't have missed some of the other toppings I chose, I love love loveeee Masago and avocado in my poke bowls and I was disappointed when it wasn't on there. I debated even saying something about it, but by that time we had been waiting quite some time and I was starving, so I just enjoyed my poke bowl without complaint. I can't help but wonder if they lost my slip of paper and were back there trying to remember what was on it and missed a few? Jon G.'s Tonkotsu was also pretty dang good! The pork belly was cut razor thin, so that was kind of a downside, but the broth was decent, the noodles were thin, cooked nicely and the egg was well marinated with a gooey center. Not the best bowl of ramen in the world, but far from the worse. Sushi was also pretty good. Although we were a bit perplexed when salmon Nigiri was served with only a single piece? I'm used to an order of Nigiri coming with 2 pcs. or at least that has been my experience any time I've ordered in a sushi place. The experience definitely left some things to be desired, but in the end, the food was delicious, enough so that we have already vowed to come back and give them another try. This place is consistently yummy. The first time I went, Linn had a delicious Ramen, and I had a build-it-yourself poke bowl. The second time I ordered take out with a build-it-yourself poke bowl. I enjoyed the freshness of the fish, and found it to be the best in the area by far...the salmon is tender, flavorful, and very very fresh. Overall, a great place for my near constant poke addiction. If you've never had poke before, you should give it a shot...raw fish with rice or salad with additional toppings; it's a healthy meal. The next time I go to Poke stop I'm going to have a hard time deciding on Ramen or Poke, but I think I will probably try the Ramen based on Linn's exuberant recommendation. read more

Stopped by on a Friday night and it was pretty packed! The place is a little bit on the smaller side so if you're planning on coming in with 6+ I would call ahead. We started with the karaage (Japanese popcorn chicken) it came out crispy and juicy! It definitely reminds me of Bethany's popcorn chicken. We also ordered tako yaki (flour battered octopus) this was probably my favorite out of the two! I ended up doing the build your own poke bowl and everything was so FRESH and they did not skimp out on the meats. The tuna and octopus pieces were HUGE! The only thing I would change is having diced cucumbers instead of them being sliced. My dad and brother both had the tonkatsu ramen, I only tried the broth and it had great flavors. They both ended up finishing the bowl! In their opinion the soft boiled egg was perfect and the pork belly was tender and not too salty. We ordered some sushi rolls as well, I honestly don't remember the names of those but they were all so good. I love the fact that there's not a lot of rice or "fillers" used. So happy to have a Poke spot near home. The staff were very friendly today when I came in and explained how to order. I placed an order for two poke bowls, one on greens and one on brown rice. The big issue I had was although I ordered an extra protein on one bowl, it only came with the standard two. So that was a little disappointing. I really wanted to try the yellowtail here. The Kimchi is just ok, I will probably switch it out for extra cucumbers next time. The bowls come out a little smaller than other poke house places. Not a bad thing because the taste is great. But they go a little light on the toppings so if you like a really large bowl, you may have to ask for lots of additional toppings. The fish was super fresh and the sauces were not overpowering. If I'm craving a poke bowl and don't want to drive far, this place will satisfy my fix. Staff was very welcoming and provided quality service. You can create your own poke bowl for $11.00. They also serve other dishes like ramen and sushi rolls. I decided to build my own poke bowl with tuna and yellowtail being my protein. I chose krab mix, avocado, seaweed, masago, and squid salad for my sides. I chose ponzu, eel sauce, and house chili for my sauces. And then I went with fried onions, fried garlic, scallions, white sesame seed, and ginger for my toppings. I like how they don't charge you extra for choosing avocado as a side! The fish portion was nice. They did not skimp out on it. The flavors all paired well and everything tasted fresh. However, the rice was a little too dense for me and I felt like the bowl could've used more sauce. I chose the "sushi rice" as my base. They also offer brown rice or mixed greens as well as a base. The texture of the "sushi rice" was too dense and made it hard for me to mix all of my ingredients together. I'm not sure if this type of rice should be used in a poke bowl. I think I prefer just regular white rice instead of sushi rice. I'll definitely come back since I had a good experience minus the rice being too dense. Guys, this little place is a treasure for N. FW. I'd even go as far as to say it is one of my favorite places for ramen and sushi in DFW area. There are a couple things that go into this, obviously the delicious food, the staff, and the price. Food -I've only had nigiri and every quality of the fish I've had has been perfect. Let me tell you I've gotten generous slices of salmon and my belly couldn't be happier. -the poke bowls are so neat and can literally be any combination of things you want. I'm not comparing this to traditional poke, because these can be customized and really made to your own liking. -the ramen is heaven! I only have tonkatsu ramen (just preference as it's the ramen I try anywhere new so I have more to compare to) is so creamy and full of flavor. The soft boiled egg is done perfectly every time, which is a must for me. -Kaarage is delicious. So light and crispy every time as it should be. Staff -it's a more laid back environment, with the owner wearing graphic t-shirts (I don't mean offensive just like art or geek culture) and the staff in jeans and a shirt, but they're nice and always say hi or check on you. -it can get busy here and sometimes and there may only be one server, but he/she's moving and it's not long before she'll get back to you. -I've been here a few times and they already remember me. Owner knew I liked the guava juices and apologized there wasn't some when the order didn't come in. How nice is that? Price -this place is so great on price. I think it's fair and also worth every cent. I have walked out of there with 2 ramen, 1 poke bowl, appetizers, drink and dessert for $40 with out tip. Not bad at all! Finally a poke place around here! The coming soon sign has been up for about a month now, but it's finally open! Very casual ambience with cool decor. I ordered the Atlantis bowl off the menu and boy did it not disappoint. I'm kind of used to just walking in a line and watching the server scoop fish and toppings into the bowl, but to my surprise, there was a chef that hand cut the fish before mixing it with the sauces! When I received my bowl, I wasnt sure if I was at a quick bite poke joint or a sushi restaurant, because it definitely had the presentation of the latter. As I took my first bite of salmon, I couldn't help notice the quality of the fish! Im not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used sashimi grade fish for it! Everything in the bowl blended very well together. I'm usually not a big fan of mangos with my fish, but it added a nice texture and sweetness to everything. I quickly scarfed down the bowl and thanked the chef for a great meal! It was just the perfect amount of food. I don't feel sluggish or stuffed, but I was tempted to order a bowl of ramen to try! They had a good menu that included ramen and sushi however I only got a poke to go and it was delicious. I'm picky about how I want my pokes and the only place that makes the way I like is in Carrollton but not anymore! This is now my go to poke place in Fort Worth. I had the build your own poke with mixed greens, tuna, salmon, seaweed salad, avocado, cucumber,masago, topped with garlic and spicy mayo and ponzu sauce. I go way back with this location, back then T's kitchen is where I get all my "canh ga chien nuoc mam" fix, but then they closed and Shinobu took over. Shinobu disappointed me to no end, but, Pokestop is here to save the day. I talked to one of the guy working there, apparently they're also co-owner with My Lan down the street. And if you're the locals you know damn well My Lan is everyone's favorite spot for viet food, you know this place have potentials! I went in 30 mins before closing time but everyone was very welcoming. I ordered takoyaki, shrimp tempura roll and tonkotsu ramen. the takoyaki was crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, with the pink mayonnaise on top this one was a winner appetizer for me. Nothing to complain about the shrimp tempura, it was textbook, it was good. Now moving on to the ramen, this one is a little bit tricky. Almost made me take away one star but I feel like they can improve on this one. The ramen is $10 but I feel like there wasn't enough noodles, if they just add a little bit more noodles to match the amount of soup I get, I will be happy. The flavor is there, but I feel like its missing something? Couldn't put my finger on it but it needs a little oomph if you will. On the other hand, the chasu and the soft boiled egg is perfection. This is my third time here and the customer service is still great! I came around an hour before closing. The servers Julie and Jonathan were very attentive as we were seated. They quickly asked us what we wanted to drink and gave us time for the menu. Tonight I had got sushi instead of ramen and it was great! The presentation was pretty. "Instagram" worthy shots hahah, but I'm not great at taking photos. The sushi, I ordered was R9, R10, R13, R14. All of it tasted great. And we had a side of blue fin tuna. That was good as well. So we stopped by here after being in Houston yesterday and wanting Poke. We know of all the good Poke places in Plano and Arlington but I figured I would google "North Fort Worth Poke Bowls" to see if anything new popped up. Sure enough, Yelp reviews of this new "Poke Stop" appeared. At first we thought it was the same Pho restaurant that we had tried before when we lived in Keller. Came to find out that it replaced it and has only been open for maybe 3 weeks. First off, the place was small but very inviting with the nice Japanese decor. I was also thrown back down memory lane with the classic Nintendo games on the TV and the trance music playing. The owners/workers were hella friendly and helpful. They provided great service. I ordered the Spicy Ahi bowl and my wife ordered the Atlantic Bowl. Even though we came for Poke we also ordered a Tonkatsu Ramen to try it out. We finished just about everything. The Spicy Ahi was great and the tuna was fresh. Great mix of seaweed and crab salad. Wasn't really Spicy for me but I'm the type to eat Thai chili's for the heck of it so don't pay my "Spicy" comment any attention. The Atlantic was just as good. The mix of Salmon and Mango worked really well together. The Tonkatsu was good and hit the spot for the cold day. There was just enough garlic oil and the flavor was on point. My least favorite part of the Ramen was the pork belly which is odd, but it was still good. All in all a pleasant surprise for an area that needs more diversity in foods.
