It includes Ahi, crab salad, seaweed salad, limu (my fave), white onions, Hawaiian sea salt etc.. everything was fresh and really good. Dole whip is the BOMB. Pineapple jar makes it so cute. $9 for the both , not too bad. Considering a cup.. I guess? Lol. The have pog (passion orange guava) drink, so I'm with it! ALSO, they have toast that I havent tried it yet, but it looks good! Atmosphere: really nice and chill. Super cute and quaint. The employees are really nice and helpful. Loved this place!! Fish is so fresh and so many choices!! I had the ahi on brown rice with one of the special sauces of the day ginger shoyu which was exactly like the poke flavor I was searching for after returning from Maui!! Super, extra friendly service...very helpful explaining the different options and explaining the process. I can't wait to go back and we even got more Poke to go!! They also have Dole whips, which reminds me of Disneyland and the Tiki room so for me thats an added bonus. For a yummy taste of Hawaii this is your place!!!! read more

Pokeatery is a winner for me on every level! Location: any great business that has a managable parking situation in Walnut Creek is an absolute blessing. Situated in the same lot as Whole Foods means there is plenty of parking in easy walking distance - and every time I've visited, right in front! Along with all the ingredients well laid out in front of you to be intrigued by visually, everything is clearly listed on on menu boards overhead. Partly of course because you design it from the bottom up, so it's totally to your liking. But everything is fresh, tasty, and so colorful! I visited this pokeatery after frequenting their other location in Castro Valley (which seems to have closed down as of September 2023). I loved the CV location. Pokeatery gets the most important thing right; the fish is fresh. I stacked my poke bowl with Hamachi, Salmon, and Tuna. Hamachi was my favorite because of good texture and buttery but not fishy flavor. Salmon was second fav, tuna third but still good. Bc Tuna was a little fishy. I was invited here by my friend who was treating me to dinner so of course I kindly accepted. I mean free food. To me when I think of Poke, it's like open-faced sushi with a "customizable"option just like Chipotle. And I absolutely understand the concept and I see why poke places are doing so well. My mouth had already started watering for some fresh crab with some rice maybe some spicy sauce and it would have been all good. I asked the clerk if the crab was fresh he said no it was not and that they don't keep fresh crab because they would go bad very quickly. That left me with an option of imitation crab which quite honestly I could have just gotten at Safeway. So I took one for the team and gave it a try. It just didn't taste that great to me. I love Poke so had to try this place. I like how you can customize your Poke box. I had the protein box with 3-4 different kinds of fish and kale salad. So good! I could barely finish the box. I think 2 boxes between 3 people would be perfect. The fish tasted fresh and the flavors were good without being overwhelmingly salty, which is something that tends to happen with poke. The kale was delicious too! Curious to try the kelp noodles next time. Dole Whip wasn't as good as the ones in Hawaii but decent enough. When you walk in they always greet you saying "aloha!" I always come here for the build your own pole bowl (because obviously I love poke bowl) and I found this place to be quite amazing ! It's located in the same plaza as Whole Foods and when you walk in it's very clean as well. The staff seem very knowledgeable about all the products and where they come from do it made me comfortable to try other things o normally wouldn't because they seem to be on top of their stuff! Oh Pokeatery ... we started off on such a right foot, it's a shame you had me leaving so blue that I couldn't run fast enough away from you! There were only 2 people working there today - a female and a male. As we walked in the female greeted us right away "Aloha!" she says ... ah, "Aloha!" I responded - this is starting off great! As my husband and I look at the menu on the wall the female asks, "First time here?" "Yes" I responded with a sheepish smile. I also tell her that we've been to poke places before. So she proceeds to tell us that they are the best Pokeatery out there and that the ordering and serving of the dishes are similar to other poke places - great! I ask the female what the Uala chips are. She explains that they are dehydrated sweet potatoes imported from Hawaii and offered us a small sample - this girl is good! - and so are the Uala chips so I opted to order half rice, half Uala as my base. She continues with her bright personality as she serves our choice sides. Chugging along the line she hands us off to the male working with her to help us with our protein. The male worker puts on gloves and then stone-faced, and with a slight exhale asks, "What would you like as your protein?" "I'll take the tofu and vegan shrimp" I say excitedly (still stoked about what great service the female just provided). Still stone-faced he asked, "Which tofu? We have regular and fried" "What's the tofu fried in?" I ask (because I'm vegan and want to make sure it isn't fried in egg batter) With a little more enunciation he says "Regular or fried?" "Oh, " I say (I guess he didn't hear my question) "what's the tofu fried in?" With a slight roll of his eye, no smile in sight he shrugs and says with another slight exhale "I don't know they come to us like that already" ... Sensing that he's hating life right now -- (and hey I get it - who wants to work on the Holiday, right?) -- I hurry along my order and say "Regular" and continue to just answer his questions and not over complicate anything for this poor guy who's already hating life. My husband and I pay for our food and comically enough the male says, still with his same stone-faced demeanor, "Mahalo have a nice day" --- LOL!!! I just have to laugh. Not very aloha and I really hope his day gets better. We opt to "try" to sit inside but it was packed and the tables were dirty -- totally understand because it was just 2 workers -- so we decide to eat at Whole Foods before we shop. On the way out of Pokeatery we head to the napkins where the dispenser is empty. I grab a package of napkins I see, open it, and leave it in front of the dispenser for other customers so that they don't have to bother the only 2 workers there trying to make due with just the 2 of them. Oh, how was the food? Delicious! Just a little dampened by the ending of our visit. Will we return? Maybe ... we'll see - We're on the hunt for the best vegan poke in town and plan to try out other places. I had a lot of chewy bits in my fish that wasn't very appetizing. They are expensive for what you get. I definitely won't be back. Everytime I come to the bay area, it's a conscience decision to eat as much poke as possible. Being in Texas, they don't have it just right yet, and there arent too many options. I just drove 20 mins from my hotel to come to Pokeatery based on the consistent Yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed. I'd already had poke in Vacaville earlier in the day for lunch and it hit the spot. It was one of the best I've had. Who would have thought I'd hit the jackpot twice in one day? Only at this location, I went with an easy 5 stars, a rating I don't typically give unless a place hits on all cylinders. This place has the great flavors, freshness, decor, and ambience. It's in a great shopping center right by Whole Foods. The constant foot traffic coming in to dine in and take out was great to watch. The amount of seating made available was appropriate and spaced out well. I normally wait until after I leave an establishment to provide a review, but wanted to make sure I didn't forget and postpone on this one. This review is really long over due. We went to their opening and was in the first 100 people to get the coupon and mug. To be honest, we went for the mug (silly I know). But the line was worth the wait. The poke is actually really good. They offer much more creative poke food than most places in the East Bay. They have toast, chips, and other combos you might not get at smaller poke places. The portion size was relatively huge, we barely we're able to finish two individual bowls. Flavors were good and everything tasted relatively fresh. Definitely will come to this place again when we are in the area and the dole whip is pretty good too!!! read more

YAS! Hella happy there are more poke places opening up in the East Bay so I can finally fix my Hawaii cravings! They do offer SOME options other than poke if raw fish isn't your thing. BUT I have to say their fish is fresh at least compared to some spots I tried in Concord. I also like how there's a standard price for HELLA food. Every time I come here I can never finish my order! I've also never had any bad experiences so far with customer service. On top of that... I love how they have the Dole whip here and even offer it as a float with POG juice or pineapple juice... & free pineapple topping and let me tell you I don't know if I came in on a good day but the serving is HUUUGE! This is a great place to bring someone who has never tried Poke before. I have had Poke on many different occasions and at many different places, but my coworker was trying it for the first time...a little skeptical too if I may say so myself. The employee who was serving us described it as "deconstructed sushi" - which I would have to give her props for. When I was asked to describe what poke was, I was like..."It's cubed raw pieces of fish in a marinade" LOL But she was so kind to explain the process as well. What I like about Pokeatery is that there is a plethora of items to choose from when you build your own box (having a poke box also makes them super unique, i'm so used to getting it in a bowl). There are even pre-designed boxes for all of us who are bad at making decisions. The fish was fresh, the crab salad was on hit, and I love the crispy toppings (tempura and nori). For only $12.50 a box, get ready for a delicious experience. The storefront is located next to the Whole Foods...parking was atrocious. Make sure you read signs for the "permit only" and "customer only" spots...which is basically all of them. But when you finally find somewhere to park your car, the interior of the restaurant is extremely clean and the lighting somehow improved its ambiance. Hopped into this place at opening recently and was greeted by a friendly employee. Unfortunately you have to wait for (or maybe that day?) for the dole whip freeze/ floats so I ended up waiting a half an hour to get this item which was a bummer. I kind of feel like this should be ready to go at opening kind of the same way I feel like boba should be ready at milk tea places when they open (a vast majority of the places this is true but a few don't have it ready until 30 minutes in). This may mean paying a worker to show up a little bit early to prepare but when it's a signature dish (ie. boba or dole whip in this case) the details matter.... I ended up getting the "workout" pre-made poke platter. I liked it but another small detail was that the edamame I felt took up too much of the volume of the container. I would have rather wanted it on the side and had a little bit more greens/rice. So next time in I think I'd go with the custom made option. Taste was pretty good and the layout of the venue itself was very modern and they had a flat screen tv with sports on which was cool. Would I return? Maybe if I was in the area but it's not a place I'd go out of my way for quite yet. I got the Dole Whip float and elected to go with POG juice instead of Pineapple juice since Pineapple on Pineapple is a little bit too much for me (failed trying it at the Polynesian Resort in Disney recently). Was craving some Poke and ran across this gem! I got the create your own box - lots of options to choose from as far as base, protein and sides. They even have dole whip floats! Upon delivery it was a pretty good size, portions were a perfect size and I finished it in one sitting! My first time here and it was delicious! Ordered takeout inside. They are following all COVID protocol with masks and gloves and stickers on the floor to maintain social distancing. So, when March 24th came around, I actually forgot about the free poke for the first 100 customers in line deal that I just slept in. I actually took my kids to Six Flags to enjoy the day and on our way back home, I decided to ask the boys if they were interested in grabbing some poke bowls for dinner before I dropped them off at home. I wouldn't want my brothers thinking that I starved their kids when we go out. The kids were actually super excited when I told them about the BOGO offer since they've never experienced a restaurant's grand opening day before. We showed up around 5:45 PM and I forewarned the kids that it might be packed since it's prime dinner time & if it was too busy, we'd have to go somewhere else. Thank goodness we were the third ones in line so we lucked out because right after that, about 20 more customers showed up and the line was out the door. My two nephews & I ordered two bowls each because we were going to take them home & share with their brothers. The line actually moved pretty quickly even though there were so many different choices offered. They did an excellent job with staffing arrangement and inventory control considering it's their grand opening day. Their employees were on point with service and speed. I don't usually throw myself into situations that involve crowds, even for a good deal (yup, I've only braved Black Friday once...), but one of my brothers and I craved poke last Saturday and decided to visit Pokeatery during their grand opening. It's one of the few places to get poke north of the Caldecott Tunnel and west of the Tri Valley hub. And, after this visit, I think it's the best option we have so far. The grand opening visit was a no-brainer: BOGO deals on poke boxes with free pineapple shaped mason jars that contained a coupon for a free Dole whip by the end of the year. But even without the deal, Pokeatery boxes are generous at 12.50 without any additional add-ons. 1. bases - 1 or half and half - kelp noodles, mixed greens, rice (white or brown), citrus kale, uala chips ^ I got the brown rice and kind of wish I got another side since the single scoop wasn't enough to balance out the remainder of the box and all of the sauce. 2. mix ins (as many as you'd like) - cucumber, green onions, limu (seaweed), white onion 3. sides (choose 2) - seaweed salad, spicy garlic edamame, crab salad, spicy crab salad 4. proteins (4 scoops, mix and match) - ahi tuna, shrimp, albacore, hamachi, tako, tofu, salmon, spicy tuna 5. sauces - original, spicy ono, wasabi citrus, spicy ponzu, spicy mayo, signature (mild, med, hot), daily special ^ Given the volume of people who funneled through, I can imagine that maybe the person doling out sauces was a littleee heavy handed. We went on Saturday, March 24th, the soft opening day. Was buy one get one free with free pineapple-shaped mason jars. The quality was good and selection of fancy add add-ons to the poke mix salad was good. A bit on the pricey side, but raw fish is usually expensive. Tried the salmon, yellowtail, and other tuna (the red one). Fish quality was good, we did not get sick and to our current knowledge, the only worms we have are in our yard and compost pile. Fish texture was firm and fresh-tasting, which is usually a very good indicator of quality poke. I still prefer the Blush Organic Yogurt and Banh Mi sandwiches that were here last year, but this is a reasonable replacement. read more

Food is fresh, staff is usually nice, and they have good topping options if they actually put what you ordered. Was soo disappointed today when I opened my box and there was none of the kukui nut, fried onion, fried garlic, or nori that I always order, just A LOT of rice. The staff who handed me my order was so annoyed when I asked about what was missing that I let it go. The salmon and literally 3 tiny pieces of tako were so meager that I ended up buying an extra "scoop" for $3. There are plenty of other poke places that can do the same or better for less $. Pokeatery was my lst taste of poke years ago in san mateo. this is the 3rd location visited. takes over Blush yogurt spot. eats: adult size(20.50) 4 proteins, hoagie container -kale, mixed greens, albacore, sake, albacore, hamachi, masago, original/ponzu sauce, wasabi, crab salad, wakame, cucumber, green onion, furikake, corn, hawaiian salt. -protein just 1 scoop each, maybe scoop size bigger, protein above average. just fresh...some items cold, health regs no doubt. take outs: -had to remind server 2 times i've been to poke places before. seems he's on automatic rote reciting the process. -free dole whip with facebook check-in? -something missing in taste. red onions for sure. -limited parking..... 4ish stars. read more

We were craving poke on a lovely Saturday afternoon and I had to go to Whole Foods so we decided to call ahead then pop over to Pokeatery to pick it up for lunch. I was so happy with the amount of add ins they allow, from the 4 scoops of protein to all the extras. It's definitely the priciest poke place I've had but at least they give you a lot of food. I ate it all in one sitting bc I was starved but normally I could probably split it into two meals. Because of the price, ordering here would probably be a rare event for me but definitely hit the spot! I had seen this place on Beyond the Creek and also passed by when going to WF. I had been to a few Poke Bars but this one had Dole whip soft serves. I was in the neighborhood and wanted to cool down from the East Bay heat wave. I mainly stopped on by for a Whip. It's exactly like the Dole whips you get on the Island and it's fairly inexpensive. Lots of Poke bowl choices here but my visit was for the Whip only. Nice staff and clean place makes it a per place for lunch or a mid afternoon treat. Parking is always fun here but you can park at front since it's right there near the entrance. read more
