WARNING: unsafe environmental irritant hazard. Ideally you should absolutely be eating raw fish and products as soon as they're prepped, so I asked for dine in. Within minutes of me sitting down my eyes are burning and in pain and tears. upon asking the cashier she casually mentions that it is a known issue because they use a fan to blow onto the chopping board area when they're cutting onions so their eyes don't burn. Well that results in all dining area literally becoming unusable due to how intolerable that is. I asked the cashier how she tolerates this herself and she said she's used to it. I tried finishing my bowl to get out of there but couldn't finish and had to pack it to go in the Vegas heat. My eyes are still burning 40 minutes later as I'm writing this review. I don't know if it's just onions or if there were chemicals but it is beyond unprofessional that the worker did not disclose that information, or if she is allowed (by management) to disclose at all. The fact that indoor ventilation is severely lacking to compensate for this known issue. I feel like I wasted the tip since it was paid up front as pay while the bowl gets prepped and finished up front. I'm not sure if this is a management tactic to not have people eat at the venue. And as I'm typing this out I remember there was another worker who was outside in the heat (not smoking) and went into the back as soon as he saw a customer (me) going into to the store. I'm not sure if the employees have protection against the irritants in the air themselves and they have to withstand this for the entirety of their shift? We stopped by Pokémon after trading our car in at Carvana right next door. It's been years since we last visited, but we were excited to try it out again. We ordered a large bowl to share, and while the portion size of the proteins was smaller than at other poke spots, they did offer a variety of free toppings. Everything was very fresh, and since there was no line, we were able to order right away. We also loved the drink options they have canned in the fridge! Located in a smaller Chinatown strip mall, Pokemon is a small restaurant that offers an adequate choice for build your own or pre-selected poke bowls and poke burritos. Many ingredients that I am accustomed to getting included without an upcharge are extras here for up to $1.00 such as edamame, seaweed salad, masago, and avocado. This is surprising given it is located off the strip and in a not so inviting environment. So after the base price (small $9.95, medium $11.95, and large $12.95), it can get quite pricey for their underfilled bowls. Because we were near their 8 pm closing time, there were some ingredients unavailable, and the staff was unwilling to substitute unless for another no-extra charge ingredient. The newer staff of younger people work there are messy rude and lack of costumer service skills. Just disappointing. The pickled cucumber tasted like sweet pickled ginger. The pickled Daikon was identical to the cucumber. Both just like ginger. The Mac salad was the greatest disappointment out of the entire order. It way dry and flavorless. It was about 3oz of chewy elbow noodles. If you aren't going to put the tiniest bit of effort into it why sell it? Seriously? The large poké bowl was missing the house sauce, however the menu said eel sauce would be drizzled over the rice and that was missing as well. The sliced red onion was watery like it was prepped and held for a day or two prior to use. The teriyaki chicken was chopped and very very lightly seasoned, the tuna and salmon were just that. Tuna and salmon. Overall the poké bowl had very little flavor and moisture. Overall it wasn't gross but it definitely wasn't good. This was definitely a one time try. I have been coming to this location for months, I am surprised that I haven't made a review yet. One thing I appreciate about this place is that the menu is fairly simple & not overwhelming. The fish always tastes fresh, they have different rice options, and their vegetables never seem spoilt. They occasionally switch up their dessert/ drink options which I appreciate because it makes me excited to see what is new. The staff is beyond lovely. They are always kind, and do an above & beyond job of providing excellent service. The staff seems to enjoy their job which makes me happy every-time I come in because I know I am supporting a business that treats their employees well. The staff never seem unhappy or stressed out, the employees are mindful of regulars which makes me feel appreciated & valued as a customer. The environment is always clean and well managed, it always smells clean. It never smells bad, the tables & chairs are always wiped down. They do okay music, however they play it at an appropriate level, the music isn't overwhelmingly loud. The only thing I wish is that they would fix their menu board screen as it has been broken for some time now. Thank you to the staff along with the owners for appreciating regular customers.
