    Spicy Tuna Hand Roll...
    Cosmo W.

I usually have god experiences here, but this visit was very lacking, in both the food and the service. I came with a group of 6 of us, we were quickly seated and given menus. We ordered Saké and Beer, and we all ordered the $34.95 AYCE. Our drinks came quickly and then we all put our first food orders in- and this is where it went downhill quickly. I ordered several items, as did everyone else. We had different servers taking orders and serving food, I got 3 of the 10 things I ordered and then nothing. The food was brought in haphazard fashion, we had to sort out who ordered what and we had NO help from the staff. Several of us only got a couple of the things we ordered, meanwhile, all the Sushi chefs we sitting around talking, and then finally after flagging down a server, we were told that our orders weren't put in, and we were told to reorder. When the food finally came, it was okay, but not as good as it used to be here. To be honest, if it wasn't for the camaraderie of our group of friends, I would've left. There are SO MANY Sushi places in Las Vegas, and if this place doesn't step it up and get their food and service back, there are many other choices.

Yama Sushi is such a hidden gem!! Delicious rolls, great AYCE value, and half rolls to try more variety. We always stop here when in Vegas and Yama never disappoints. Service was super fast too on a Sat :)

I did the 34.95 AYCE. Only 5 bucks difference. The specials for this option wasn't really that special though Because I wanted to try as much as I can, I skip any rolls. Just did alot of nigiri and all the limit 1 specials. I think the only thing that was worth it was the nigiri and the carpaccio. The deep fry spider crab and garlic shrimp was ok. The rest was not... Just soso. Would I recommend. I probably go for the 50 down the block at imperial Service was excellent. I tip $10. The kids all hustle.

We went to try out this AYCE sushi place for the first time. We were a group of 8, 4 of them very hungry teens and I will say we all had a blast!!! The price for the restaurant was very affordable. The teenagers ordered everyone on the menu!! The fish cuts were generous too and they don't load the sushi with rice to fill you up like other AYCE places. Everything tasted amazing and the service was great. The server had a blast watching the teens order and challenge themselves for more food. If you are in the Vegas area I HIGHLY recommend this spot! (They even have sweet shrimp my fav!!!)

Was it the best sushi I ever had? No, but it is the best $34.95 AYCE sushi dinner I ever had! If you don't care for the more expensive items, you can even select option A for $28.95!! You do have limits on certain items like uni or scallops. Otherwise, you can order anything on the menu if you get the option B, and as many pieces you can consume. I was surprised to see hamachi kama (yellowtail collar) and lobster rolls on the menu! There are so many options for rolls and the few that we had ordered was delicious with made with very little rice, which I like! The fish was fresh and delicious. Service was great and attentive! You can order with any waiter that comes by your table. They all carry an ipad, so it was quick to put it the orders. Food also come out very quick as they have at least a dozen people making sushi and working in the kitchen. Oh, they have a projector playing anime for entertainment. That was cool! Parking is difficult because it's a very busy strip. We had to park at the next shopping strip across the street but it was worth it.

AYCE sushi for $35pp (children get discounts). Huge menu with a large selection of seafood, sushi, and cooked food as well. We paid for the premium option which gives us access to special items but a lot of them were not available. I liked the happy ending / happy rainbow rolls a lot. Palm job hand roll was also memorable and yummy. Okay service -- they forgot a lot of our order and brought things out pretty slowly and some waitstaff were a bit rude. Tons of seating inside and able to accommodate large groups. Got the raspberry mousse cake for dessert and I really liked it!

First time to this location located in the Chinatown Spring Mountain corridor having been to another located off the Vegas Strip. What we ordered was solid with the exception of the garlic edamame in which the garlic was pureed making the edamame mushy with poor presentation appeal. We enjoyed all the nigiri and rolls that we ordered with the exception of the Snow White roll. 5 stars for overall quality and service.

Never ever disappoints!! Best sushi in town. I recently found out you can order half rolls during all you can eat sushi!! This is so great as you get to try a larger variety of rolls! I was able to try so many news rolls this time.

I don't like going to all you can eat sushi place- and this place proved I was right. Rolls were bland and my ramen was blah. Drinks were ok. Multiple servers came to us it was confusing. Ambiance was loud and chaotic. 3 stars.

We visited Yama in Chinatown, having previously enjoyed their former location on the Strip. While the sushi selection is solid, and the quality of the rolls we ordered was good, our overall experience left a lot to be desired. We don't do AYCE, so we noticed the rolls were a bit smaller than expected. We started with two rolls which came out quickly, but we wanted to order a third and unfortunately the service was extremely slow. There seemed to be plenty of staff walking around, but no one actually checking on our table. To add to the letdown, they had run out of Kirin Light--which was surprising for a sushi spot. While the food itself was decent, the lack of attentive service and the beer situation made the experience frustrating. Unfortunately, we don't think we'll be returning.

Every item was ultra-fresh. Hot when hot and cold when cold. I would order something and just a minute or two it would come out. This was even with an 80% full restaurant. Even more impressive was that hot items came out very, very quickly. Matthew, my server was a cool laid-back guy who was super attentive. Everything he recommended was great! And he checked on almost everything I ordered! Something else impressive was how quickly they clean cleared and reset the tables. It was a team effort. Everyone who was in the restaurant serving or busing helped replace the items on the table. It was very cool to see. I have to mention Cassie, the first and last person I talked to. She greeted me at the door with a happy smile, asked if this was my first time and kindly recommended a lot of wonderful items when explaining the menu. On the way out she thanked me for coming. The space was simply but well decorated. They picked a great upbeat soundtrack for midday. It was a wonderful meal all around! I'll be back for sure.

Also, during our meal, a woman had to be carried out by paramedics, which was quite unsettling. Next time, we'll probably choose another AYCE sushi restaurant that still offers a military discount. There are plenty of great options that appreciate and continue to support military members.

We decided to sit at the sushi bar, which turned out to be a great choice. It gave us the opportunity to interact with the chef and watch him prepare everything right in front of us. You could immediately tell how talented and experienced he was just by watching his knife skills and the care he put into every dish. We started with the Albacore Tuna, cut into six beautiful slices. It was incredibly tender and practically melted in our mouths. It was so good that we ate it before we even thought about taking a picture! I ended up finding a photo of it on TARU's website because it deserved to be included. Next, we had a Salmon Roll, and then we decided to put ourselves in the chef's hands and asked him to make us a Chef's Surprise. He prepared a beautiful plate featuring four different types of fish, and this time we remembered to take a picture! Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. To finish the evening, the chef surprised us with a dessert of fresh oranges with a touch of liqueur. It was light, refreshing, and the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. What really made the evening memorable was the combination of excellent sushi and the personal experience at the sushi bar. Our chef was cordial, engaging, and clearly very talented at his craft. Chef Shuji runs the restaurant with his wife next to him in the kitchen. The fish here is flown in from Japan and of the highest quality as you can see from the sheen and fat marbling. The tuna melts in your mouth and bite after bite is a wonderful experience as you pair it with soy sauce, fresh Wasabi, yuzu Wasabi, or some combination of the condiments provided. This is also the first sushi restaurant I have ever been to that automatically brings out fresh Wasabi without having to ask. The portions are generous and we left feeling very satisfied. Even though we were very full, we took a look at the dessert menu. Not pictured here is a sweet potato with ice cream and brown sugar glaze. This dish on the menu was unassuming but the taste was so decadent. Quite possibly the best and sweetest sweet potato I have ever tasted. The chef slowly roasts them over a 2 hour period, rotating the potatoes every so slightly every 15 minutes. The sweet potato could be a dessert by itself, it was that good! Chef Shuji is a charming and funny host. He regularly comes out to greet his customers and makes sure they are enjoying their meal, very high-touch.
