Despite some negative reviews I decided to brave Flour and Tea and see if the place was as legit as their average 4 stars. Definitely a competitor of PokeNoya, the only other poke place in the vicinity (around the corner on Colorado), Flour and Tea Poke is a bit bland in comparison at its execution of the poke bowl. They are comparable in price, but PokeNoya, I believe has an edge on Flour and Tea in terms of taste. With that said, the service is definitely faster than PokeNoya. I like poke and wouldn't mind coming back when there's a long wait at PokeNoya. read more

Cute place! Nice and roomy interior to give you lots of elbow space to sit and chit chat. Pokemix was one of the first poke places to pop up in Pasadena (wow, say that fast three times). Initially I stopped in a few weeks after their soft opening, and ordered a combo atop salad to-go. Maybe it was the salad, or the seasoning of the scallops, or maybe bc they were still new, but it tasted like straight up seawater. Fast forward a couple months; my coworker and I came here for lunch, and I got the combo atop rice with salmon and tuna. Big difference! The fish were well marinaded without being overpowering. I like ahi poke where you can still taste the fish and not just all the sauces and stuff they mix it with, like some other poke places. One great thing about Pokemix is that you have the ability to couple your poke bowl with a great mixed tea drink! They're the same owners as Flour & Tea down on Arroyo and Cordova, so the same quality of drinks also transferred with this shop. Oh, and they allow extra imitation crab and seaweed salad toppings at no additional charge! EDIT: they now charge for imitation crab salad (as a meat option), but seaweed salad is still free of charge, and now they have edamame free of charge. read more

I wanted to try one of the poke (raw fish) shops that are spouting up everywhere. You walk in and you let them know that you want poke. Then you build your own poke. For the small I selected two fish -- salmon and ahi tuna with half greens and brown rice. Then you get to choose your sides and toppings including garlic chips, sesame. You can also get one of their teas with their combo deal right now. I nice option if you're in the Pasadena area and in the mood for poke. There's another place in the area that I haven't tried yet, but I read some mixed reviews so I chose this one. The owner mentioned that their chef is Hawaiian Japanese. read more

I've never been there in person, but I have ordered from them a times via Postmates. Overall, the fish is pretty good. I wish they were a bit more generous, but I suspect that you are paying for quality ingredients and composition. My top choice is the Ahi on that front. There's also an odd-ball lineup of other delicious things that you really ought to consider. For example, spicy tuna balls and beef bone broth shouldn't be missed. The tuna balls are quite "ricey", but there is something about them that makes you want to take too big of a bite and let your cheeks turn rosy as you chow down anime style. The bone broth is not really bone broth: theres lot's of lovely meat bits in there and it warms your heart and fills your belly. read more

One of my usual favorites if I'm ever craving unique tea flavours and poke! Downside: it's in the heart of Pasadena so it's all street parking or finding a close by parking structure and taking a short stroll to get here. This place is really close to my current school and decided to come here for dinner one day after my class ended at PCC. I always get half and half on brown rice and veggies. I love the texture of slight crunch that the veggies provide with all the rice, fish, and other toppings. (Also the cucumber bc I love cucumber! More crunch!!) Their egg is pretty good! I do recommend getting that. One of their unique tea flavours would be the blueberry kumquat pomegranate tea. I believe it's now named the jungle tea because I first tried it as they were testing it out. Not the best but definitely hits the spot and very savory. Yessssss!!! This is seriously a gem in Pasadena and I'm very glad that I saw the flour and tea sign while driving by! PokeMix by Flour & Tea is on the west side of Lake -- across from Lemonade. Parking could be a bit challenging during peak hours, but there are free lots nearby. PokeMix is a build your own bowl style restaurant. There are three sizes to choose from - Small, Medium, and Large. The larger the size, the more protein scoops you get. You first choose your base - white rice, brown rice, or salad (you can also mix these). Then you choose your protein. I tried almost all their protein except the crab meat. All of the proteins were fresh, but the scallops are my favorite, and the spicy tuna ain't too shabby either. You then can add some toppings and sauce. I don't know exactly what putting in my bowl, but I get all of it and add the wasabi and some mayo... and it's freaking delicious. I wish the scoops were bigger, but I'm pretty sure it's just me who thinks this. You won't find a vast selection of pastries or drink like the original f&t, but there are a few good drinks here that does not disappoint. The hibiscus tea with boba is a nice refresher! One of my favorite Poke spots for sure. I'm always here on lunch break, it's a problem. Guaranteed to get good food and good service. One thing I noticed is that those rice is always fresh and warm. Some places serve hard and cold rice but this place keeps a good rep with their fresh rice and fish of course. These ppl just know how to do it up and they know how I love my EXTRA sesame seeds. I used to love this place but the owner changed and now quality is totally down the drain. The flavor, fIsh, presentation, staff, and everything but the NAME is different. Just awful. I came in and INSTANTLY noticed a difference because I used to be a regular. As the worker pulled out a bowl for my order I asked why the fish was so different and he said it was "Hawaiian poke tuna" whatever that means. It was a light pinkish red color and cut into jagged little pieces of fish whereas before, the tuna used to be dark red, large cubes and lightly seasoned. When I first came here, I ordered a black sugar coffee and I absolutely loved it! But today, I opted for the vegetarian bowl. If you're a vegetarian, like me, the seaweed salad and tea eggs are a definite must! The bowl is exactly what I wanted- citrusy, tangy, and savory. The texture of the rice cracker topping complimented the spring mix and makes healthy food way more enjoyable. The egg is also cooked to perfection and has a really nice marinade seeped into it. I have been eating here for almost 4 years. It's my favorite poke I've found. The fish is always fresh and the portion is very decent. My favorite drink is also the Pistachio Milk Tea. I can say they have only messed up my order once via app but when I called, they were understanding and offered me a credit on the portion of my order that was wrong. That's customer service! I will just say, I don't care for the House Poke sauce much. They have changed it, it's a lot saltier now and tastes like regular soy sauce. Previous version was way less salty and just added flavor. Not one to bash establishments. This place was clean with friendly staff. But sadly the poke was bland AF.

This review has been long overdue, partly because of recent personal events, but nonetheless it is well deserved. To begin, I worked at a law firm nearby in Pasadena. During our break, my office mate, Jen and I stumbled upon this place to have tea. For our first time, the service was outstanding. The staff - specifically Jessica - was great in helping us out in finding the type of tea that would best accommodate our taste buds. David, the owner, whom we've come to be great friends, was adamant in making sure that we received the greatest first time experience. (I.e. Making sure the sweetness level is correct, the boba or add-one are at the perfect level of quality and etc.) Since then it has become my daily-to-every-other-day ritual, as is with Jen and several others in the office, to come to Flour+Tea for our break at 3PM. As a tea enthusiast, my all time favorite tea to get is the Shamrock Gold. This tea is by far the best of the "secret-not-so-secret" menu of tea selections that they offer. Granted many of the selections are extremely delightful, but this tea bursts with immense flavor. You can especially taste the white peach and kiwi mixed with the tea in great detail. Purely a sensational feel. As any review tends to be, the underlying reason for it to be written in the first place, is to provide readers/viewers a genuine thought of the subject place. And thereafter, to do the noble or disgraceful act of recommending or not recommending the very place. With that said, it is with my utmost intention and gratitude of the service provided to my fellow office mates and I, to duly recommend this place for their tea and their poke. P.S. LOL Forgive me for being extensive and "wordy." I guess working at a law firm for awhile changes the habits of how you write and present yourself to the public. I love this place!!! I used to go to the smaller one by Public Storage, but it closed. This place definitely doesn't disappoint! Employees are always nice and the drinks are great! The place is really cute inside and I love that they have a stamp card! I've already been able to redeem for my free drink, which was a Mango Oolong tea. So far, I haven't had any problems with parking because there is a lot of street parking around there. I like to come here before going to the Huntington Library so I have something to walk around with :) They have pretty good poke, too, which is nice to be able to get lunch and a drink at the same place. I love the oolong teas and they offer hot teas as well. Most people haven't tried hot boba milk teas, but I love them! I recently tried the hot marigold tea as recommended by the employee and it was so delicious! The bathroom is in the hallway of the building and uses a key, so they are nice and clean. I've been going to Flour+Tea since 2014 when they where a bakery and tea place. They always have excellent fresh Boba and great tea! Coming from Taiwan I have high standards for both and I'm never disappointed with the quality of their drinks. My favorite is their Honey Green Tea with Boba (: Their Poke bowls are also very fresh and tasty. Great on a hot day, when you want something light and refreshing. Maybe I built myself a crappy combination. But ive never not finished a bowl of poke in my life. I had to stop eating halfway because my bowl was not very tasty. In fact, it tasted like a bowl full of salt. I tried asking for sides of other sauces to mix in but nothing doing. I discovered the problem after trying my mom's bowl though. You NEED to get the artificial crab. But here, the crab counts as a meat item, while in other places, it's part of the basic free toppings. I can't remember another instance where I've had to pay for my artificial crab. When the base doesn't taste any good, the bowl doesn't taste very good. Their house sauce is missing a key sweet taste. Not even a subtle one. Lastly, the stuff they offer to sprinkle on top, the sesame seeds and the little rice balls, they're extremely stingy about. They just barely sprinkle enough to be garnish because it does nothing for the texture of my dish. I'm not sure if I'd ever come back. Maybe reluctantly and under pressure. read more

O.M.G.! Their poke is so tasty! The crab salad is so good, the Ahi Tuna and Salmon! Everything is fresh. Smells fresh, tastes fresh, looks fresh...it's just FRESH. I love the cucumber and toppings...they're also...you guessed it...super FRESH lol! That's always a make or break with poke. If ingredients seem old it totally kills the dish! They're super friendly and fast. I work in the Pasadena towers just off Colorado and Lake, and I got down from the 9th floor, ordered at PokeMix and back up to the 9th floor ALL IN UNDER 11 MINS. They're so quick and efficient. I definitely recommend, the only complaint I have is I wish they would make the scoops of fish just a TAD larger... but that just may be me being a fatty! read more

food quality is not good at all. I threw my bowl away within 3 bites of it. all the toppings are dry, EVEN the wakame??? on top of that, the salmon is bland even though I got 3 sauces.
