This is closer to a 2.5 than a 3. Service is pretty decent. The girl helping me seemed a bit confused/new, but she was nice and accommodating. I got a large poke bowl with a rather disappointing amount of protein. The protein itself is mixed with some onions and other small chunks of not-protein, so you get a lot less protein per scoop. Rice was... hard. Not in a "we didn't cook this with enough water" way, more like a "this has sitting out for a long time" kind of hard. The avocado is kind of guac-y (which is bizarre for poke tbh) and the tea egg was kind of stale. Fish was fresh, at least. The spicy sauces they use seem really out of place. They're not quite... poke-like. I've been to many poke places and they all have their own renditions of sauces, but PokeMix uses the garlic chili sauce (the Sriracha one) and it just didn't work at all. The spicy mayo was too thick too. House sauce was decent, though. If you mix the house sauce with the spicy mayo, it tastes more legitimate. I also got a taro slush. It wasn't amazing (I'm just picky about taro slush though), but it definitely wasn't bad. Wouldn't mind getting it again. Overall, I wouldn't have minded their shortcomings if the cost wasn't so high relative to the amount of food served. I don't think I'd ever return for the poke, but maybe for their drinks. read more

For someone who pays $5.01 for their large jasmine green tea with boba, after 19 drinks (almost $100) and finally accumulating the buy 10 get 1 free. I went in to redeem my free drink. They only give a small which is fine. I said with boba, and assumed as a regular they would at least give me the small with boba, nope, they said $.45 extra. Fine, I agreed. Gave them my debit card and he said, no we only can charge a $1. At this point they lost my business. To be honest as a small business, they need to understand the concept of being "customer-centric". But it's not my business to run, just giving the customers who's planning to visit an idea of the ethic. This is a money driven business and it's a turn off to someone who supports small business. Sorry, but the quality of the Poke bowls are simply not that great anymore. The fish is not as fresh and has that "fishy" smell to it. I have lately tried the Ahi tuna, Spicy tuna and salmon, which were all really bad tasting. The toppings are decent, but there is a very limited selection that you can choose from, and all the 'premium' toppings cost an additional $1 or so each. There are a few other good poke places in Pasadena, so I won't be missing PokeMix, unless they get back to their usual quality ingredients and great service. First time and last time ill order from here. I ordered delivery and i got so happy and excited for poke. When i got it, i love how the portions are large and pretty good for $11ish. However after one bite, i was disappointed. Spicy tuna was bland. It had a little bit of heat, but it was bland. And i LOVE spicy tuna in general. This goes for the Krab meat they had, also bland. I have a poke spot by my home now. I'm so excited. A legit little poke bar, the place serves some awesome drinks as well. My girlfriend saw this place when we went to Pasadena to hit up the vitamin shoppe down the street and we decided on lunch. Its not a lot of food but the large is just enough. And because were fitness heads we like lean meats, simple carbs, sugars, etc. Definitely diet friendly. Been here twice in the same week and will most likely end up there again this weekend. I had been anxiously waiting for them to open after Johnson told us about his new poke bowl venture. Came here on grand opening day just for the poke bowl. First pick a size. Small is 2 scoops for $7.75, medium is 3 scoops for $9.75 and large is 4 scoops for $11.75. Then pick a base, seasonal greens, rice or half/half. They had ahi tuna, spicy tuna, scallops, shrimp and krab. There was a sign for salmon but nothing there. When the staff was explaining what they have she took away the salmon sign. I picked the spicy tuna and the krab. The scoop for the spicy tuna was super tiny. I could not help but put my folk next to it and take a picture for reference. I picked seasonal greens for my base. She then asked if I wanted seaweed, sliced cucumbers, masago or wasabi. Then there were fried garlic slices. She then asked if I wanted black and white sesame, Hawaiian salt or poke sauce. My husband was offered spicy mayo sauce but I was not. Lastly dried seaweed to top the bowl. Each item added was very small portions. My husband ordered a medium bowl with rice. The lady scooped three scoops of rice into his bowl. He picked the ahi tuna, the spicy tuna and the shrimp. At the end when his bowl was completed it barely filled half of his bowl. A small and a medium plus tax came to $19.08. Taste wise I was not impressed at all. Not only was my spicy tuna scoop tiny, it was flavorless. My krab was so finely chopped I felt like I was getting jipped. After finishing the entire bowl I still felt hungry. I tried a piece of ahi tuna and a shrimp. The shrimp tasted like the frozen then thawed ones. The ahi tuna was so so in my opinion. My husband said the ahi tuna was tasty. My husband usually would not eat three scoops of rice but he ate his entire bowl because there was not much to eat. He complained not enough sauce either. He had asked her put a little more so she added a drizzle. We are used to the friendly staff from the Flour and Tea on Cordova. The service here needs to improve. The lady helping us was too busy talking to the other staff while she was helping us. Focus please...customer first, no? I have been telling my coworkers about this place before it even opened. It disappointed so I will definitely let them know my experience. For $7.75 I expected a good size scoop. She used an ice cream scooper but the ball that came out was tiny, more like half. In all honesty, starting coming here all the time for a new choice at lunch in the area and a healthier choice. After being a regular for about two months, I will not be back. Let me explain why.... When you enter, you stand in line and hosiery between small, medium and large and type of rice and if you want greens. Then, you choose your Poki choices from about 5 options. Then, toppings incl seaweed, sliced cucumbers, fish eggs (orange kind- small) and some other toppings incl sauces. This process is very slow going and really holds up the line and they have done nothing to fix this. Much of the issue comes at the cashier, the owner, who is often trying to up sell his boba drinks and make small talk. My last straw came when ordering a large, the most expensive bowl and one of the workers was being so cheap and obvious about measuring each scoop to the exact measurement and not erring on the side of the customer. The , after not taking a number of the items incl rice, I asked for extra fish eggs and was given a hard time for more than one scoop. I ended up with two small spoon fills but had to beg for it. Then, the owner says, you picked the most costly item for me, which really does nothing for my perception as a customer of how nickel and dime they are. He clearly remembers me and all my coworkers who came multiple times per week and that little act of cheapness is likely to spread like wildfire through my office. One last thing, while I enjoy premium offerings at additional cost, i don't believe that yellow tail warrants a $1.50 per tiny scoop up charge. Your competitors offer yellow tail standard. Again, the impression this leaves the customer is one of cheapness. I understand you want to turn a profit, but there is no way to achieve that without customer loyalty. Loyalty is achieved through trust, which you have not established with this customer. read more

Wow, so disappointed. I came here for an early Saturday lunch around ~11:30AM. There were about 3 staff members in there, eager to tell us about the poke bowls. The woman who served me must have been one of the owners because she was stingy as hell with the servings. I ordered a large and she gave me the smallest scoops of poke I could have been given. Everything was an add on that cost more and I just didn't like that. I used to go to Pokinometry in Anaheim all the time and it just felt like such a rip off. The worst part is she poured too much salt on my poke and she fished it out... and seemed to get even stingier with the fish she returned to my bowl. My favorite poke place out of 6 so-called "poke" restaurants. Here are the top 5 reasons why : 1) it's made like actual poke from Hawaii. How? If you know anything about poke, it's that the fish is usually marinated a bit before serving. It's NOT supposed to be marinated right in front of you as you order (like pokinometry does it). 2) the fish is fresh and fairly large sized! I am all about Poke and this spot has been on my to do list after trying their Pasadena competitors. The medium bowl is almost $11 but they serve cool drinks vs. other places do not. I just went here today. I think this place is OK. I have been to their Flour + Tea location on Arroyo and I really like their teas. The drinks are pretty good and not that sweet. As for the poke I had today. First thing: The price and portion. I understand in Pasadena price will be more expensive then in Alhambra or Monterey Park area. That I get because of the location. But for a small bowl being $8.45 I believe and only getting 2 small scoops of fish is kind of expensive to me. Maybe because I have been to other Poke places in area Anaheim and Cerritos and the prices there are around the same but portion wise you get more. I was so happy when this location finally opened up! Flour + Tea was now right down the street from me. They made it a lot easier for me to grab my Lychee Oolong Iced Tea. This location however does not have the baked goods available that the other location used to have. But they do have a small selection of snacks available - probably made by the same bakers. I really like their poke bowls here! Their bowls are the perfect size for me, but might not be enough to fill the average person's stomach. If you're looking for a heavy poke bowl, I'd ask for a few extra scoops. They have your average selection of fish, but they also have some seasonal specials, just as they do with their drink menu). Last time, I tried their Hamachi fish from Japan, which is pretty unique for a poke shop. I would hands down order a scoop of that again if available. I also like that they have edamame and tofu as their toppings I usually recommend this place for a quick lunch. The line doesn't usually take too long and the workers here are quick to their feet. Lunch hour is the busiest I usually see them and they do close pretty early **Keep in mind they do have cold brew iced oolong tea available as well! Good poke is hard to find and PokeMix definitely does it well. My favorite proteins are the ahi tuna, salmon, and the albacore. The spicy mayo sauce is really good. The staff is friendly and the line goes fast. It's not a bad place to study either so I will be making this one of my hang out spots. Parking is metered in the morning and afternoon. They do have their own lot out in the back, which is free after 6 pm. I try so hard to like this place but I just can't. I don't know if it's the way the food is made or the rude employees that work there or a mixture of both! But they kept insisting and so I then asked for it on the side and they said no! It needs to be on the fish and I just said okay... Just a squirt of it.. The guy grabs the bottle and covers my fish and squeezes so much onto it.... It was just like what the heck... So I paid 20 dollars for something I didn't even want. Now my second time... Same thing, but this time with a girl. I come in and she goes um excuse me can you please hurry and order we're closing.. I then said you don't close for another 15 minutes... And she goes yeah but we're going to clean now.. So I said please give me a minute and she rolled her eyes at me. Granted the food looks appetizing and they give a lot and it's a nice set up... I've been coming in for years and the poke bowl has actually gotten bigger and more fresh. I really don't understand why there are these negative comments that I've read below. Many of my patients who live in Pasadena, Altadena, Monrovia, Alhambra and San Gabriel visit this establishment weekly and no one has made any complaints about the portion size, price, taste or customer service. I've seen patrons who gave attitude to the server and it's just not right. We all have "off day"! Give these folks a break. Bottom line: the food and service continues to be fantastic so please don't let a "few" comments ruin your experience at this great establishment. This review is only for the DRINKS, I did not order any food. I got the Firefly drink. Got a small, total was $4.10 including tax. Definitely look up the "secret" menu before you go, the drinks on there have more flavors than the regular menu. There's a picture of the secret menu on here, it's not on the official website (although you can see a few of them if you try to order online). The Firefly tea is passion fruit and white peach green tea. I did not add any boba or jelly. I asked for 1/2 sweetness but honestly don't know if they only put half sweetness. Forgot to double check before I left and I wasn't given a receipt. I like it. It's refreshing in this heat. Great to cool down, especially if you don't like coffee (there's a Starbucks across the street for you coffee addicts). I've been here a couple times and I usually get the ahi tuna and scallops or yellowtail. All the seafood are fresh, the portions are a little smaller but once you eat everything, you feel content with the meal. The poke bowl comes with seaweed salad, garlic chips, crispy nori, brown/white rice or salad as the base, cucumbers, spicy mayo, and furikake and some additional toppings like avocado and wasabi. Nomnomnomnomnom. I love that they have a Tofu option. I got 3 scoops of tofu with white rice and mixed greens. Next time I think I will skip the mixed greens and just get the white rice. I think I added almost every non-meat topping that they had. I tried to save the food to share with my partner but it was so good that I ate it all myself. It was easy to order with the Yelp app and my food was ready on time. There is a short-term parking space in front of the business so if you order takeout you can run in and run out very quickly. The best thing however is the pistachio matcha green milk tea. Hands down one of the best milk teas that I've had in the San Gabriel Valley. Up there with au 79 for sure.
