The single most important thing when it comes to poke is the quality and freshness of their fish. I chose to create my own bowl rather than try their menu options and tried both their regular salmon and spicy salmon. Unfortunately, the salmon had that typical stench of seafood - an indication that they are no longer fresh. The texture was also bordering on rubbery instead of the soft consistency in salmon cuts of fresher quality. Especially in cases where I am consuming fish raw, I am very careful about the quality of the fish I ingest as to avoid stomach issues. It also is an issue that despite the sauces that were slathered on, I could still smell the fish. The restaurant itself was clean and spotless, and also had an array of drink options to accompany your order. There were also many options to add to your bowl, which is a huge plus in my book. For instance, I chose some edemame, mango, kale noodles, cabbage, and Thai chili to go with my bowl and the flavors blended harmoniously. My only critique is the quality of their fish. read more

Delicious place! However, when I realized that they serve the food in plastic bowls I was disappointed. The pile of plastic bowls that accumulated as the evening progressed was depressing. I would really encourage the manager/CEO to implement reusable bowls that they could wash in house. You would think that given what we know about the detrimental effects of plastic the Pokework owner of this Burlington, VT chain would step up to the plate and use stainless steel bowls or something washable. read more

I visited this restaurant within it's first week of being open. The website and decor reminded me of my experience of eating poke on Oahu, so I wanted to give it a try. It's beautiful inside, light and airy. It kind of feels like a summer day, well lit with wood accents. The menu is above the food station, kind of like Chipotle. You can see what proteins (fish, chicken, tofu) to add, then choose a sauce, a base (rice, noodles or greens), veggies, and toppings. They also have "signature" bowls that are pre-chosen combos that work well together but you can still adjust to your taste. The food was fresh - exactly how I like my raw fish to be! So I didn't mind paying $16 for the bowl and a ice tea. But, this place may be more of a treat, rather than a regular lunch rotation because of the price. Again, I get why the prices are high....we do live in a landlocked state after all. And it's worth the price. The service was great. The barista (not sure if that's what to call her) was great at explaining the ingredients. read more

I've kept coming to this location since I move to Plattsburgh in 2019. Have to say that never had any problems prior to the pandemic but since the pandemic began I feel this place really needs to hire the people who like their jobs. I love the ingredients and the taste to death, but I really don't like the way that the people who were preparing my food. Yes, they are very friendly, but they seem like they are tired of what they do. There were a few times that they just scoop a tiny bit of ingredient into my bowl and I had to ask for more. As well some of the employees just kind of throw ingredients into my bowl without care. Or even worse like today that I asked for a large bowl, but got a regular instead and not sure why. There are a couple of people who work at this location do get everything right and I was very pleased by that. But there were many times that I just did not like the way they prepared my food. I love this place a lot for its tastes and ingredients. But I just really don't like how some of the employees prepared my food and I had to think twice before I go since that happened to me too many times already in my opinion. First time here at Pokeworks and the food here is redunculous! It so good. Tonight I got the "hawaiin" and customized to include both seeweed and half Kale half rice. The ingredients were fresh and oversized. You will not be disappointed. The service is friendly and quick. Its not entirely "from the Islands" authentic but that difference is its freshness. The bowl itself was delicious and where most poke bowls have very little tuna or other protein, I appreciated the larger cut and plentiful portion of tuna in the bowl. First time having poke and I am so impressed! The staff was so helpful and nice and I will definitely go back when I am in the area again. They have a location in Wilton, CT which is closer to me and I will definitely go visit. I had the make your own poke burrito and some miso soup. The spicy salmon and ahi tuna were so fresh! I got the shoyu sauce, cilantro, cucumber, masago, avocado, and wonton strips. It was so amazing and it tasted like a giant hand roll. The miso soup was just ok, I don't think I would get it again. They put in the seaweed and some green onion which looked fresh and there was a hot chocolate looking machine that the broth came out of. Then the employee went into a fridge and got some tofu out of a bag and put it into the soup. For $2.50 it was okay soup, there was too much onion and the tofu didn't seem that fresh. When I first ordered from Pokéworks, I thought I literally was having a spiritual revelation. They made my food exactly the way I wanted it, it tasted amazing, and it wasn't too expensive. But over the past few months, their service has gotten literally horrific. Every single time I order from this place, they get my order wrong. Every. Single. Time. I've wasted countless dollars on meals that I literally did not enjoy at all because the staff can't be bothered to read the special requests that are submitted through door Dash and GrubHub. Not to mention, they constantly are turning off door Dash and GrubHub throughout the day, so you could put a whole cart together and then be ready to press order, and then all of a sudden at 2 PM on a Tuesday it says that the restaurant is closed despite it being open. And when they don't follow the instructions, if it is because they're out of certain ingredients or something, they don't bother to tell you. They just let you find out on your own that your meal is missing three ingredients after you've waited 30 minutes and paid $15 for food plus seven dollars for a delivery fee. I wouldn't give this place a one star because when they make the food correctly it tastes great, but good luck getting them to make it correctly. Super disappointed, I wish that my (used to be) favorite place would just give me my favorite food again lol. read more
