I was so excited to try this poke place as the reviews seemed promising. There was another poke spot of mine that I went to often and I came here with the expectation that they'd match. Everything about the poke bowls were fantastic: portion, ingredients, pricing, etc. One thing that I am disappointed by was the ponzu sauce. I asked for heavy and when I went home there was no taste whatsoever! Without any flavor from the sauce the poke just tasted like nothing. I highly suggest you choose two or more sauces instead of just one. Maybe I chose the wrong one but it made my whole meal taste bland. Another pokeworks location that just opened up. Usually I'm a little bit biased (and snobby heh) about poke that's not in Hawaii but I decided to give this place a try. For $15 it does the job and it's a decent amount of fish. They do load it up with a lot of rice but it's not as soft/fluffy like I'm usually used to. Get all the topics you want to match how much rice they'll give you lol. If you ask nice they might throw in some masago for free hehe thanks for that. spicy mayo (I think they call it Sriracha aioli lol): I rlly like this sauce and usually like to keep my poke pretty clean but I had my expectations low for any mainland poke. Pokeworks is a new eatery located in the Costa Mesa Courtyards shopping mall, located at the corner of 19th St and the Park Ave. This location opened barely 2 months ago, it is already drawing a crowd. I ordered a spicy ahi brown rice bowl and it is pretty good. Rice was fluffy and ahi was flavorful. I was tempted to order its lobster bowl, but I want to try a more traditional bowl first. Service at Pokeworks is good. The guy behind the counter was already helping 2 customers when I walked in, and a guy in the back jumped in to help me with my order. I don't know whether this is a company store or owned by a franchisee, I think it will do such fine here, so closed to the waterfront. read more

Came here and was immediately greeted by the workers. I appreciated the fact that they were so patient with me. (I'm a super indecisive person, so sometimes it takes me a while to decide what I'm in the mood for.) The spot has already premade bowls or you can build your own. I opted to build my own but I was super tempted to try their lobster bowl. I was very surprised to see that noodles was an option for one of the bases. A lot of places don't give you the option. I still went with my half rice and half salad base I get everywhere though! The worker was super nice in giving me recommendations for what suace to use. This review is based on my experience at this newer location while ordering with the official Pokeworks app, which I ordered from and I picked up, but stayed in store to eat. First, the app was very easy to use and order from, I got to select items that I could have easily missed if I ordered in person. I was curious to see how fast it would take to send through the app order so I waited to arrive at the store before sending, and was surprised to see if get immediately received and the staff started just a few seconds after sent through my order. The supervisor who worked there was extremely professional and made sure I wasn't rushed and even mentioned the free spam masubi if I checked in on Yelp. So helpful. He saw me sitting at a table and even delivered my order directly to me, and later asked how I enjoyed it. That is service that's even rare in a full service restaurant these days, much less a fast casual restaurant so hope that the staff are recognized for their outstanding service and system they have here. Outside of the service, the place itself is very clean and comfortable, great place to get a quick bite to go or have a normal lunch, but there's just limited seating both inside and out. The food itself was fantastic. The quantity is there, which makes the slightly more expensive (compared to other Poke places I've been) menu prices a bit more worth it. Everything was fresh, lots of great choices, and it was delicious, it's possibly one of the best Poke bowls I've had. There's possibly enough for two meals if you're not a big eater. One additional thing I'll add is the app is a very nice way to order here even if you decide to dine in. Not only can you skip the line, but there is an offer for for $5 off for downloading and ordering via app. Just be sure to download and install as early as you can, as it can take an hour or so to even get your coupon after installing the app. But even though I read that people never got their $5, I got mine no problem. Overall, great experience from every aspect. I may not come often as it is more on the expensive side, but I do plan to return and introduce it to friends as well. read more

I decided to try this newly opened poke place located in the shopping plaza near the Triangle. When you walk in you can either order a customized poke bowl or one of their 6 signature poke bowls. I decided to customize a poke your way with 2 proteins (salmon and spicy tuna) and added white rice, cucumber, sweet onion, edamame, cilantro and peppers, shoyu, seaweed salad, surimi (imitation crab) salad, and pickled ginger. The fish was fresh and everything melded together very well. Each bite was perfect and they filled the bowl with your protein of choice and toppings. After looking this restaurant up I learned that it's a chain and am excited to be able to go the others as well. read more

They don't have a lot of fish choices like no albacore & their regular size is only 2 scoops. But their spicy tuna and spicy salmon looked really tasty!! I got salmon with their sriracha aioli on top & another sauce that was REALLY good. Ponzu? The girl was very friendly and asked me if i wanted heavy sauce which i did. Everywhere should ask that!! Another hidden gem that's overlooked. This poke place is located in the plaza next Rubio so locals understand that parking is pack during its peak times. There is a limited dining area. For fan of poke, there's not much to say except what to expect: Similarities: choose base, protein, sauce, veggie and fried toppings Differences: - their spiciest sauce (forgot what it's called) is not spicy if you are spicy lover - masago and avocado is extra - asking for extra toppings like corn or such wont charge as long you ask - there's signature drinks - there's a Yelp check-in offer for free garlic spam musabi. Very good and tasty I chose the spicy tuna and spicy salmon with brown rice and loaded it with every free toppings (including fried toppings) with heavy spiciest sauce. Cons: The place reminds me of a hospital with the white walls. Music was a bit loud and echoing and couldn't hear the workers what they were asking for my order. They ran out of garlic masubi. I waited for an hour to have them make more, but they never got around finishing them because of too many customers walking in. They should have another worker working in the back making the masubi. That's extra money for the company. It's literally going out the door. No soda machine for all you can drink. You buy the beverages can/bottle from an open fridge area. There's an ice machine and water dispenser across the way. Lastly, I wasn't full after consuming everything in my bowl ($17). read more

Pokeworks is a newly established restaurant in Costa Mesa! Following the Apple Maps, we were lost but the location is actually all the way to the left of the plaza next to Jamba Juice. It's in a plaza filled with many other restaurants, like a hub for quick lunches or bites by the beach. First off, you can customize your bowl or choose a premade one. I opted for a custom bowl because I loveeeeee all the toppings. We got the white rice, two proteins of lobster and salmon, literally all the toppings minus ginger and wasabi. For sauces we got serrano aioli and umami shoyu. This came out to be about $16. The bowl was good, but it was not the best I had. The portion size was very small, and the utensils for the scoops were also tiny. The portion did not fill the bowl. The rice was just plain white rice. The seasoned lobster were quite large chunks, and the salmon ratio to rice was insufficient. The sauces were not flavorful, but maybe I just chose the wrong sauce. There were some toppings that were unique like wonton crisps and edamame. While I understand that the simplicity of the menu can appeal to some, I think I've just acquired a more complex taste for poke. All in all, if you're looking to step into the world of poke, Pokeworks is for you. It's simple but it's good. read more

My husband and I came in to try their poke bowls. We both did build-your-own bowl. I tried, spicy tuna, ahi tuna, and salmon. It was nice that they let you pick half rice half salad. Jeffrey helped us out and he gave us his recommendations. For the sauce, I went with the Poke Classic and got sriracha aioli on the side. Lots of toppings to choose from! I can't remember them all but some at the top of my head are: cucumber, seaweed salad, masago, edamame, corn, green onions, sweet onions, imitation crab, garlic crisps, onion crisps, wonton chips. I loved that the restaurant looked clean and ingredients looked and tasted fresh! As we were leaving, we realized they only have a water machine, and so if you wanted soft drinks/soda, you would have to purchase the can. They also have an app where you can earn points. read more

The poke is very fresh and they have yummy selection of sauces. I've already come here 3x and I frequent the Culver location often. I love that toppings are unlimited and that the crab salad is free as well. The only downside I had once was I came late night one time and sadly had undercooked rice which messed up my experience that day. Other than that I usually have a good quality bowl all around. Pokéworks is usually my go to chain for poke in Socal area since their sauces have lots of flavor yet not overwhelming! Parking is easy and the space is clean and spacious, it is right off the 55S so it can be hectic and busy in the surrounding streets. Service is good, staff is nice and attentive. read more
