The set up of their food was well organized. I liked how they had a list of the options. It makes it easier to pick what you want. They had toppings that a lot of other poke places don't have, which sets them apart from others. For the price, quality, and location, I would definitely come again. It was absolutely delicious. I was a little bit scared coming in like 20 minutes before they were going to close, but it was a wonderful experience! The workers were very friendly and understanding (since it was our first time) and we got through the line pretty fast. Also checking in on Yelp gives you a free miso soup (which comes from a machine on the side)! My friend forgot to use the offer, but the lady working the register was nice enough to give him the deal after he paid. Miso soup was a good addition to the poke on a chilly day. As for the poke, the portion size was huge! For me... at least, like that could've been two meals for me (the regular size). I love that they have so many choices here for the base and everything else. The price is about right too for what they provide. With the poke game very strong in SoCal, you would think each new Poke restaurant would have their A game on. Not this one. First of all, you will be screaming your lungs out trying to explain what you want and in the end getting frustrated because you exerted all that effort to be heard, only to get your order messed up. The sneeze shield glass is too high and may also be unnecessarily sound proof. The loud music does not help their cause either. Regular size ($9.99) is just two scoops of fish, large ($12.99) is three. Expensive! No octopus here. Avocado topping is an extra $1.50 and no, you are not getting an entire fruit. Their sauces are weak and unimpressive. Their crispy toppings give them an edge but not enough to make me a fan. I thought the Pokirrito would be their redeeming factor...it remained only a thought. Don't get me wrong, the concept got me excited. Unfortunately, the execution was a fail with flavor profiles that made me yawn. There are lots of things that need to be worked on here including service. They are nice but they do not know what they are doing. Very good poke restaurant. Not my favorite but still very good. I do like how they offer sushi burritos...I may try that next time but for my first visit I wanted to keep it safe and order the bowls. They give you a choice of rice so I picked brown rice and my two protein choices were salmon and ahi. The toppings all looked great but I was a little sad that the wonton crisps were gone. The bowls were very good! Not the best poke I have had but definitely worth the price. The fish tasted very fresh and all of the ingredients were also very good. They put the ginger on the side like I requested and it went really well as a topping for my bowl. I ordered the classic sauce but the soy sauce also sounded good so I will have to try that next time. The food line moved very efficiently so this is a perfect meal if you are in a hurry. These build-your-own poke bowl shops are a dime a dozen these days. They're everywhere! Service was pretty nice and there's ample parking. What I didn't like about this place was that the music was pretty loud and they have a tall glass panel to separate you from the food. What was hard was actually having my voice be heard across the glass so that I could place my order as I made my way down the line. I repeatedly had to restate my order, which was very annoying. When you go to places like this, the fish is not fresh - it's all previously frozen. When you order their specialty pre-made bowls, the portion sizes are considerably smaller than if you were to build your own poke bowl. I'll give Pokeworks 4 stars because they let you put on as many toppings as you want. But if you're like me and get easily overzealous with options, you'll soon realize that sometimes less is more. I piled my poke bowl high with a ton of toppings. Once I started eating it, I wished I had ordered less toppings so that I could taste the fish more. You live and you learn. Another winner in the poke competition, and boy is there some stiff competition! This place is located in the Culver/Irvine Center Drive plaza near Tea Station. I really like this place because it has a clean, rustic, modern vibe (think reclaimed wood and succulents!), the service is friendly, and they have some unique offerings not found at other poke places. They really know how to differentiate themselves amongst the sea of many, many poke places that are out there these days. You start by deciding if you want to order one of their signature dishes, or if you want to build your own. Amongst the build your own options, you can choose from a poke bowl, poke burrito, or a poke salad. This is the first place I've seen that offers the burrito option - great idea! For the burrito, you can even choose to have it wrapped in soy paper or roasted seaweed. They have the usual seafood selection... 2 choices for $9.95, and 3 choices for $12.50. I love the unique topping offerings too, like wasabi tobiko and spicy furikake. Definitely give this place a try! read more

So many negative things I can say about this place: 1) The worker said welcome as I walked in, but didn't come to help me until there was another person that came in after me. 2) stingy on everything *protein:ordered e scoops of salmon. The tray only has a little bit of salmon left. I thought they would get more, but they didn't. Each scoop was barely full. * topping: barely a top *had to pay for masago, though most places give it to you for free. 3)freshness: 2.5 hours after eating this poke, my stomach didn't like me very much. Can't believe I have not review this place yet! Pokeworks has become our go to spot for poke since they opened. We've probably dined in or ordered to go for more than 30 times now. Their poke bowl never fails to satisfy, and the service has always been excellent. It's a quick grab and eat/go spot which we really appreciate when we just want something simple. Healthy meal for the win! I've had my fare share of poke establishments and this, by far, is my favorite. Upon walking in, you will find a modern clean decor for a layout. It will be obvious that its an assembly process of choosing your favorite ingredients. You'll have a choice of poke bowl, pokirrito, or poke salad. You can also opt for half salad half rice. That's usually my favorite combo. Their protein selection is quite extensive! Two ingredient that stood out for me was the Sous Vide Shrimp and Scallops. Love the cook on the shrimp with this method. It paired well with my salmon later when mixed with the house sauce. While building my bowl, I quickly learned that their ingredients and toppings are also vast. It was hard to decline any of the options presented. Close to the end of the line, another factor that stood out for me is their crunch bar. They have 6 different crunch choices: Roasted Macadamia Nuts, Toasted Rice Puffs, Wonton Crisps, Lotus Chips, and Onion Crisps. This truly set them apart from other establishments. Its an extra layer of texture that livens the taste index of the dish. Lotus Chips and Onion Crisps is a must. Not getting any crunch is like eating cereal without milk. I would recommend that you add some texture to your bowl. Another nice surprise is their miso soup. You'll need to inform them that you want one near the end so that they can add tofu and green onions to your miso cup. Here's the twist. The miso is dispense from a machine with a push of a button. While I was skeptical about soup dispensing from a machine, that was put to rest when I had my first sip. Miso soup is good. Very pleasant surprise about this. Overall, this is a healthy and quick alternative for your everyday meal. I would recommend that you stop by and build some deliciousness for your tummy. read more

Overall: 3.5/4 What makes Pokeworks different and refreshing from other poke places I've been to are the various desserts, foods, and toppings they offer. They do have a Hawaiian theme and this is my first time seeing options like poke burritos, lotus root chips, dole whip, and garlic spam masubi from a poke place. I stumbled upon Pokeworks while on my way to study at Coffee Tomo and thought it would be perfect to satisfy my lunch cravings. It's in a huge plaza near Petco, ISnö, and Panda Express. They have two large tables that can accommodate ~20 people total with seating outside available. Most people come here for a quick in and out/casual dining experience. I ordered their spicy salmon and ahi tuna with their pokeworks sauce and sriracha aioli. I like that they don't douse the fish with overly salted sauces. But eh, it's not very spicy though. Barely passes for mild. I might have to try their gochujang-based sauce next time. If you can't handle spicy at all or would like to cut some calories, it's easy to just order regular salmon and add in your desired sauces. They offer healthier alternatives to plain white rice other than salad like brown rice, quinoa, and kale noodles. But definitely not the largest range of veggie toppings I've seen at a poke place, just the basics. Overall: I think ~$11 (after tax) for 2 scoops of fish is definitely overpriced compared to what you can get at Pokinometry or Low-key Poke Joint. I also noticed that my bowl wasn't filled up all the way compared to other customers and maybe it's on me because I didn't choose more toppings? In terms of purely poke, this place is just alright and there are much better places in OC. It's something I'd get if I was in the area with a poke craving. I am really disappointed with my most recent visit at this location. I have been coming to this pokeworks ever since it first open in the plaza & it has always been my go to poke place however, the experience I had today was not okay. I was waiting there for a worker to help me while I was looking at the menu. The worker in the picture then comes up & just stands there looks at me and does not say anything and stares. First of all, why is he wearing shades? Second of all, what happened to "hi what can I get for you? LITERALLY got nothing from him but terrible customer service. While I was telling him my toppings he couldn't hear me so I had to talk louder & he was just throwing it into the poke bowl & started putting less portions of everything. I was still telling him my add ons & after every add on towards the end he kept moving forward & wanting to end it already when I wasn't even done. I don't know what's going on here but this worker really needs to learn what customer service is or just go work somewhere else where people can tolerate his attitude. Pokeworks is without a doubt my favorite and the only poke spot I go to in Irvine. Their fish is always super fresh and high quality! My personal favorite is the ahi tuna which is well complimented by the Hawaiian sauce. They have a wide variety of toppings and have the BEST seaweed ever (not the seaweed salad or the dried nori, but the black one) and I also like their garlic chips and imitation crab. Not only is their poke amazing, but the customer service is great. I was helped out by Malia and she was super friendly and answered all my dumb questions with great knowledge. She was extremely patient as with me as I was being indecisive LOL. Thank you so much for the experience and being such a great top notch worker, Malia! I called them, and Morri, the girl who answered the phone, told me that it's because I did not stir the soup and there's nothing wrong with my soup like I never had a miso soup before. I told her it's just hot water, and there's no miso at all, and she told me to driv back and grab new ones instead of issuing refund. What a joke. Worst customer service ever Update: The management responded quickly and apologized for the customer service that I received. Gonna be straightforward, their salmon gave me food poisoning. Horrible stomachache and feeling very sick. The salmon was extremely slimy and definitely spoiled, I only ate about a third of the poke before I threw the entire bowl away. I should've brought it up but I realize after combing through the older reviews, this has been an ongoing issue for over a YEAR. So it appears that nothing has changed regarding the quality of their fish. Poke places should have a high standard regarding fish quality and freshness, and this place doesn't seem to do a good job in maintaining that standard... at all.
