I was in town looking for a sushi or poke place, and my waxing lady sent me here. I was in the mood for a sushi roll, so instead of a poke bowl I ordered a spicy Hawaiian roll and a seaweed salad. The roll was delicious...I will have to say the fish is FRESH. My seaweed salad was good, but a little too much in terms of flavor. I noticed this place was a hit. We weren't sure what are the process, even with the description we were a little confused.. maybe their mom , meaning me were s little slow that day lol! My son caught on quick and he led the way on how we should order. The lady behind the counter didn't really mention the process and how many choices we had to pick from for each base The gentle behind the counter was more helpful , he guide us through each category and how many choices we can choose from each for each layer.. This place is near and dear to my heart. I found it when I moved to Upland in 2019 and would go nearly everyday to the point I wouldn't be surprised if the staff recognized me. The large succulent chunks of fresh fish lying beautifully on their delicious always fresh rice at a price NO OTHER PLACE has ever been able to beat and their quick and friendly staff is what kept me coming back over and over again. The size of the fish and how amazingly fresh it is makes it truly shocking that you aren't paying an arm and a leg. I've been to places in LA that want $25 for a bowl with only 2 scoops of fish and the sizes are pitiful. I sadly moved out of state but every time I visit family this place is the first one on my mind. I would legitimately be devastated if this place ever closes down. Charged me extra AFTER I placed my order, for extra cucumber, and they did NOT even give extra cucumber. Lol what a joke your establishment is. They have poke bowls, baked rice bowls, cut rolls, and sushi pieces on the menu! Service is quick and is build-your-own style but you can call ahead for rolls and orders other than poke bowls. I always go for the Poke Bowls as the fish is fresh, and portions are larger compared to other poke places in the area. I've been coming her since February and not once have I been charge for extra white rice and today all of a sudden I'm charge for extra white rice. I ask the lady with blonde hair why am I being charge? She says "the manager just said we have to charge for extra white rice" then again there's not one sign or any info before u order about extra charge for a main base. It's like there trying to get extra money but doesn't make sense. I've dealt with every employee here and this lady with blonde hair always has attitude when I come in. The first time we checked out the place, I got their poki and maki special poke bowl and I thought it was fine. It didn't blow my mind but the 2nd time we went around I got the baked lobster rice bowl along with the BF and thought it was amazing! I definitely want to try their other rice bowls. I think at times, depending who's working that day customers will get smaller portions than what is normal so it doesn't hurt to ask for a little more of protein when you think you're being shortchanged. I got spicy salmon, salmon, shrimp, and spicy scallops! I also loved the fact that the spicy tuna was a topping and not an extra protein! With this I got corn, jalapenos, crab meat, cilantro, radish sprouts, cucumbers and the house hot special sauce, spicy mayo, and garlic ponzu and wasabi mixed in!! Wouldn't go back to this poke place... I ordered the salmon steak with all salad, it took over 15 mins to make and I was on lunch break. I get it they cooked it as I ordered it, but the guy up front should've told me how long it would take BEFORE I paid. But the WORST part is how SMALL the portion was!! The picture is comparing the chopsticks to the size of the salmon, it was 2 small pieces of salmon trying to make it seem like 1 actual steak of salmon for $11.95 plus tax!!!
