This was my first time here, and a Peruvian-born friend swears this place is authentic. You'll have to take my opinion with a grain of salt because I hadn't experienced Peruvian food before. I will say there are also Mexican dishes on the menu, so I believe this restaurant might be a mix of Latin cultures. Here are the items ordered: Fried cassava - These were ok. They were a bit dry. I think that's part of eating cassava, but they were not that flavorful compared to something like sweet potato fries. Sausage and fries - The fries looked pre-frozen since they were the crinkle cut kind. The sausage was ok and the only thing that gave this appetizer any flavor. Lomo saltado - Beef, french fries, tomatoes, and onions all stewed together, this is like the Cuban version of ropa vieja (one of my fave dishes of all time, except no fries). After googling, yes the fries are supposed to be in the dish, which I find a bit odd because this is also served with rice (so it's double carbs). Nonetheless, I love carbs so I just rolled with it. I think my biggest issue is that I can find similar, more flavorful dishes in other cuisines. I am not sure if that's because of this particular restaurant or the cuisine itself. For example, rope vieja in south Florida is just absolutely robust in flavor and the ultimate comfort food for me. Here, the lomo saltado for the broth was tinny. This wasn't a bad start, but I guess I better try more Peruvian places! read more

Food poisoning! We got food poisoning from the lomo saltado my mother and I ate. We went there a couple days ago for an early lunch. We were one of the first clients, server was rude and the lomo saltado was not good. It tasted old To top it off, the waitress was rude, short and had a attitude problem. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy! We tried to be a little adventurous for lunch and wanted to try something new. Pollo Bravo did not disappoint! We had the half chicken, with an avocado salad and sweet plantains as our sides. We also had the taquitos. Their green hot sauce is light and refreshing, although not spicy by any standards. It is very clean and decor is minimal but very nice. The food is good but very hard to either mix things up in their menu. God forbid, if you ask to switch the sides from one entree to another entree. For example: tallarines verdes comes with chicken but you can't switch the protein for lomo saltado. Or ask to have their spaghetti to be made with huacaina sauce. Instead I can get a small tiny bit of that sauce on the side. While waiting for food the bar top is covered with a laptop a purse on one seat, a cell phone on another seat, and an empty Dukin donuts drink on another seat. Food is good. But let me tell you that they are extremely stingy with their sauce. I have to always ask. I'll order the gordos combo and and they'll give me 1 sauce, sometimes 2 sauces. My pregnant wife has been craving this recently so the last three days I spent 100.00 in three orders. I got a total of 4 sauces. My family loves the Hillcroft location but we ordered via Uber eats on mother's day and we received rood from this location. Boy what a difference in quality, taste, etc. Nothing close to the Hillcroft location that we frequent a lot. We love the gordo combo and always have a good experience at the Hillcroft location. This location definitely does not live up to the name. They need to shut this location down as it is nothing like the Hillcroft location. They send white rice that was terrible with the meal. The chicken is so bomb here. Super moist, so moist that I can't comprehend how they did it. And you have to eat it with the spicy green sauce! It's so delicious.
