I haven't been here in a while. And I come here just for the taste of the Mother Land. Which to me is the chicken. I lived in Guatemala as a kid so I grew up eating Pollo Campero. And trust me it tastes exactly as i remembered it. The original chicken is fried in a pressure cooker. They have added grilled now since everyone else has. I need to come more often. And just for the chicken. The sides n such are ok. The only downside to me is the price. But I feel the same about other chicken places as well. As others have mentioned the place seems very well kept. And they are right the workers are very helpful and friendly. My opinion people should try the chicken out. I ate there for the first time last week and spent the afternoon visiting with a friend in their restaurant. The dining room and restrooms were very clean, the place well-lit and full of natural light. The staff was courteous and professional - you can tell they take pride in their job and restaurant - even the store owner was present! The food... holy moly!!! The food is impressively fresh. The ingredients are excellent and the seasoning is delicious. Since I was so impressed with the fried and grilled chicken, I tried several other items and was thoroughly impressed each time. The empanadas are incredible, the tacos were solid, the bean soup is amazing and the chicken was damn good. I would highly recommend this location and restaurant for anyone seeking fast casual. The food is prepared each morning, in-house, and the ownership is invested personally in its staff and customers. I will be frequenting this place!!! read more

We stopped by this place on our way to Verizon Theatre - I've never been to a Pollo Campero before so didn't know what to expect. I ordered the chicken tenders combo and my bf ordered their grilled chicken sandwich combo. We should've been adventurous and replaced our fries with a different side, but my love of fries kept me from doing that. As part of the combo, we could order fountain or tropical drinks and... with that choice I will always choose tropical - so I got a guava drink. It was very pink but very tasty. My chicken tenders were hot, juicy, and crispy and the fries were crispy, thin, and hit the spot. I had a bite of the chicken sandwich, and that piece of chicken was well marinated and uber tasty. His horchata was very flavorful and super sweet - he enjoyed it very much as the "dessert" portion of his meal. Usually when you go to fast food places, you don't expect any good service whatsoever. However, this place did a wonderful job with service, the girl who took our order knew we were newbies and walked us through everything and even gave us an estimate of when our food would be done. The manager also came out and made sure we were doing ok and even cleared our plates for us. This was pretty amazing for me to witness. Next time, I'll be more adventurous and perhaps try their yucca fries or sweet plantains along with a different entree. But yes, there will be a next time, I guarantee - this place is one of the best in terms of fast food joints! read more

Really excellent fried chicken and "Campero" beans. My kids had the chicken sandwich and the strips and were not NEARLY as impressed as I was with my breast piece. I bought an 8-piece to bring home. Better than Popeye's and Church's for SURE. It's my go-to chicken place now. Try it. read more

Fried chicken is some of the best on the metroplex. It's different from the other chains like Church's or Popeyes. Sometimes you can tell the chicken has been sitting out too long. I wish they would make it to order so that's it's fresh. Love the Yuca fries and the rice as well. If you're in the mood for some awesome fried chicken, give this place a shot. I was in the neighborhood so I stopped at Pollo Campero. My expectations were low when I saw it was fastfood. I had saw an old article in D magazine about their chicken. Pleasantly surprised. I had this 3 taco special. 1 Spicy, 2 Fresco, (Small Tacos, but very tasty.) Also had the tortilla soup and it was the surprise I was wanting for. (Hello World). So ... I stopped by here (after going to a nearby office supply store) to get a side to go with my lunch. I'd never been here before and wasn't too sure about it when there were only two other people in the restaurant. My doubts were quickly dispelled by the super friendly guy behind the counter. When I said I was only looking for a side he asked if I had ever been there before. When I told him no, he proceeded to get me samples of the coleslaw (delicious), beans (also delicious) and a drumstick (best I've had in a while). I only got the coleslaw but I'll be going back there for sure. The guy behind the counter wasn't wearing a name tag, but he definitely sold me on this place. read more

If I could give this place zero, I would. I placed an order through door dash. Not because of their service, but because of the quality and taste of their food. Disgusting to say the least. Believe me when I say I'm not one place reviews on anyone, but because it was that bad, I had too. People shouldn't have to experience what I did. The chicken seemed like it was drenched with extra lime, probably to cover up the stench. Actually everything was seasoned with extra lime. And their sides did not make it any better. The potato salad or whatever it is that has seeds in it is a disaster. Worst $40 dollars I've ever wasted. Never again, i don't know how this place is still in business. read more

Was curious when we saw this place so decided to give it a try today for lunch and very glad that we did! Although the person taking the order spoke very broken English, after a few tries we got it right. The tacos are excellent, empanadas were wonderful and the yucca fries were perfect. After eating, we went back and got the flan and tres leches cake which was great! Driven by many times without stopping but will definitely stop again next time!!! read more

For a fast-food chain, I definitely was not expecting this place to be so good. They use a special spice recipe on their chicken,and they cook it a different way than most places, so the final product is absolutely amazing! The service is great too. Workers come around constantly to make sure everything is okay, and they're extremely friendly. They also gave us extra chicken, which was much appreciated. They're coleslaw and fries are really delicious too, so it doesn't hurt to try those either. Overall, Pollo Campero exceeded my expectations, and I'll be sure to go back in the future. read more

They had a free piece with check in, prices are reasonable she'd I had been told food was good. it was packed with 99% of the people being hispanic it must be good. I was the only Asian here and had sunglasses on. For three meal #5 only got one piece and was told the thigh was attached to the drumstick so it counted as two (pictured). Rice was ok, but I was told it was better before. charro brands were pretty yummy and fried chicken was crisp and juicy. Salsa from the bar was really good. If you want the roasted chicken get a while piece and take it to go. Inside the tables were dirty as was the sales bar and there were no napkins. For fried chicken I think that the texture is better than church's. the roasted chicken has spice rub which is pretty tasty. value wise are so I was in between kentucky fried chicken and churchs. Thr green salsa its better than taco cabana. what is interesting is that that is real plates and silverware when you dine in. Service was friendly and they thanked us when leaving. read more

Food was amazing except for their mashed potatoes almost all the staff provided good customer service. Although we did have to ask staff repeatedly for one of our sides and by the end of our meal we finally got it. Was a little disappointed since we drove 45min to go here. Also noticed they changed their menu and it was a let down since their spicy chicken option was amazing. I would probably give it a second chance if it was not such a long ride. read more

Worst service ever!!!! People didn't want to work and it was noticeable that they didn't wanna be there. It used to be better when the owner/ manager was there. Food was cold and not fresh like its supposed to be. The server dropped some of my yucca fries order and 15 minutes later comes with a plate of 1 single yucca. What a joke???? Didn't know what to expect at a fast food chain but the pictures looks yummy so I decided to try for myself. Also yelp offered a check in deal here for a free piece of chicken! Walked into resturant and noticed how clean it was, which is huge for me. Staff is super friendly and I believed the manager was present was very nice. I ordered the two piece grilled, side black beans and drink. And I definitely had to try their yuca fries which were nice and hot. The chicken was juicy and flavorful which I enjoyed. It also comes with the option of either 2 tortillas or bread. The food portions are perfect but still amazed by the flavor of the chicken. The free yelp chicken was fried which was also pretty tasty and crispy. I will definitely go back and try the many options on their menu such as tacos etc. Recommend for a delish fast food place for a good price. read more

Giving one star for the horrible customer service. I went through the drive thru and the girl inside couldn't hear me for the insanely loud rap music playing in the kitchen area coming across the speaker. She couldn't hear me, and I couldn't hear her. All I heard was the blaring music (which was laced with curse words nonetheless...don't get me wrong, I cuss like a sailor but like they say...time and place). She had to ask several times to get my order correct. When I pulled up, I could hear the music blaring from the drive thru window coming from inside. My order took forever and of course it was wrong. The owner of this franchise is so kind and really cares about his customers. Very clean facilities, lively music but not too loud. Staff is attentive. This establishment pursues and achieves excellence! Their Peruvian citrus chicken is amazing! Their fried chicken is uniquely crispy, super fresh, perfectly seasoned and tasty. The rice and bean sides taste homemade and have great seasonings. The price is very reasonable and the quantity is perfect. It's a party in your mouth and the pocketbook! Just walked into location on Cockrell Hill in Dallas Texas and while placing my order I mentioned I'd never been here before and was using a coupon. The woman waiting on me says in Spanish, "What is this?", handing the receipt to her manager, Francisco. He told me they don't accept these. I asked "Why not? Isn't this Pollo Campero?" He then shows me the line that says "Offer good at participating locations" and explains that they aren't participating. I drove 30 minutes to get here only to have wasted my time. They assumed I don't speak Spanish and the woman making meals laughed at me when I came back in to ask the manager for his name. Francisco refused to give me his last name. So you spend marketing money to bring in new customers. They show up, you assume because they are black they don't speak Spanish, and embarrass them. Great. My family spends about $200-300 weekly eating out. Big mistake. HUGE! read more
