I have been visiting the location on Bellaire for my fix for years, since my first exposure years ago in Costa Rica. The location on Washington is not as good, in my opinion, as the location on Bellaire. However, it is close to my house and satisfies my fried food fix. I had the baked chicken this time which seems to be more plentiful at this location. I will be back. read more

Yum! I love the fried chicken here. Its really moist with well seasoned skin. I usually get the 2 piece leg and thigh meal with 2 sides, quinoa and cucumber salad. The sides are soooo good. A healthy alternative to other fried chicken franchises. Its located really close to me in the heart of washington/river oaks area so I come here a couple times a month to pick up a quick dinner. Only downside is that it is a bit pricy for fast food fried chicken and the pieces are pretty small. I'm guessing that this is due to the fresh ingredients they use in their sides. read more

For the gourmands vs. gourmets amongst us, the portions are small -- but very tasty! It's not too spicy, not too "cloaked" in this and that. The interior is very much Latin flavor -- with bright colors, energetic design. The menu is interesting, and the Peruvian quinoa salad was wonderful. You order at the counter, they bring it to your table. Someone came by to fill our drink glasses, ask if everything was OK. Nice touch. For a casual eat, this place is great. read more

This latin american chicken place is awesome. I love getting their Wed $10 bucket of grilled chicken special. The chicken is awesome and the management is great at keeping their customers satisfied. Only knock is that you can't pre-order pickup via phone :( But I was there last week and because I had to wait for my bucket the manager gave me a free drink and chips&queso while I waited for the bucket. This is best chicken I have ever had. The fried chicken is amazing. The Peruvian grilled is alright, but the fried chicken is better. Even the fries here are addictive. The guacamole is great too. Tasty fast food that's better than the larger franchises. A bit pricey for takeout but the empanadas and steak tacos are solid.

Let me preface my review by saying, this is NOT tex-mex. It's Latin American food, which is quite different. With that out of the way, let me tell you I love pollo campero! Try yuca, plantains for sides...they're both amazing and the typical sides for Latin American fare. All the chicken tacos are awesome, but we weren't super impressed with the beef. Empanadas are great too. Only wish they would bring back the wide variety of sauces they used to have. Give it a try, just don't come in search of Tex-Mex. :) read more

The fried chicken was just so so good. The horchata was nice and sweet. Kids liked the chicken strips and the mango drink. But the best best best part.... the STAFF!!!! We went after church on a Sunday night (yeah, we go to church on Sunday night) with several other families. We had about 10 kids, half of whom were under five and acting like crazy people. I used to like this place but tonight they were not good at all. The girl who took my to go order needs more training, I ordered a salad with my meal...I never got it, luckily they didn't charged me for it. I have never written a review on any restaurant specially a "fast food" one. If this place falls into that category. I ordered a campero salad (grilled chicken) with balsamic vinegar. This salad came with tortilla chips to add a crunchy flavor/texture. I couldn't believe what I was tasting. This place figured out the flavors I grew up with and put them together in a package. Decided to check this place out... WOW!!! The food is amazing delicious!!! We didn't know what to get so the manager Raul helped us out and suggested food items. It does have a fast food appeal, but by far not... I felt as if we're in a restaurant... the server was polite and very kind, the dishboy was even polite and offered to get us refills. Which was not necessary since it was self served. After the amazing food the very polite staff... we had to leave a tip for by far exceptional service. The hubs and I stopped by during their first week of being opened and it was chaos. So we decided to give it another try. Their chicken tomatillo taco was DELICIOUS! But my carnitas taco was not. Not too sure what spice was on it but it was no bueno. For the sides we had the chipotle fries and beans and rice. They were yummy but nothing to rave about. The staff was super friendly. Which was pretty nice. I like people being nice to me but I also like having more than one thing on the menu to eat :( So for that, I give you 3 stars. read more

Probaby someone who expects very inexpensive fastfood chicken could mark small number of ratings on this restaurant. However, my wife and I really loved super clean and bright interior and also their tasty foods. I tried chicken empanada (best I've every tasted), pollo traditional (fried chicken) and peruvian grilled chicken plus mango slaw / blackbeans & rice / yuka fries. We did not know that we could order only fried chicken instead of combo menu (side+chips) but the manager said we could. Drinks are also very nice. variety of choices. Great food, great service, and nice clean restaurant. I got the empanada trio with one of each and it was absolutely delicious. Sampled some fried chicken from a friends plate and it was pretty good too. Minus one star for taking away the salsa bar. The new sauces in the little bottles suck. I really enjoyed the chipotle sauce and cilantro available at the salsa bar when it was still there. Bring it back and I will re-review with 5 stars! read more
