    Steak torta
    Chiana P.

I decided to go through the drive thru and try something I usually don't get. I got a steak torta instead of getting my usual chicken . The meat is flavorful but the sandwhich overall was a bit dry . The sandwhich is huge, but the meat was dry and the had too much guac for the amount of meat. This sandwhich end up being hard to eat and it was very messy. Never again! . If the proportions were better, I could've enjoyed it more .

This place has pretty good chicken. Although, if they did not have all of the sauce choices, the chicken would just be mediocre. I love the family combos, it comes with great sides. They have some of the best Horchata I've ever tried, It's more of a milky flavor. I used to go here all the time because I worked close by. Service is good, although staff know little English.

This was a great deal! It was around $11 for this massive bowl of rice salad and meat and the salsa and chips were free (chips were super flavorful and fresh and they have a whole salsa bar) the drinks felt a bit expensive for $3/drink. The location seemed to have a good flow of business and food came out fresh. Service was good and the space and tables were clean (mainly 4-tops)

They're really friendly, definitely one of my favorite spots, I love the food there. I was kinda sad bc they took off the menu a seasonal item, the chilaquiles they were my absolute favorite in the city Hoping they would bring those back. Salsa bar is the best, because they have actually spicy sauces 10/10 just for that, and pickled onions have my heart too. The rewards program they got is cool too. Aguas frescas are natural !!!!!

Food nasty, service ok, ambiance is ok. My beans were rancid, found a hair on my chicken, and my churro filled with gajeta were filled with Air.

Ok, I have delayed going here due to seeing mixed reviews. Today I decided to go at lunch. It was busy inside, the inside was clean, and the service was friendly. I got the 1/2 chicken to-go. I have been to a restaurant in San Antonio that cooks chicken like this and that place is off the charts good with a flavor to their charro beans and rice I can't put a finger on, but everything in my meal was good. The chicken was very good and I liked the taste of the salsa verde. The wait for my food was not very long; I ordered inside so I could look the menu over. They get a solid 4 and I will be back.

Don't pass on the chicken tortilla soup. The habanero sauce will creep up on you so be ready. It's delicious!

We usually go through the drive through, but we had time today so we stopped in for 1/2chicken and the flautas. 10/10 both! The portions are great and we had leftovers :) Jaime and Brenda were great, we'll be back! Excuse the non aesthetic photo, we were hungry!

Baked Potato with carne asada and agua de jamaica.

Drive Threw took a little longer than I would've liked, especially during lunch time. Food was delicious!

They were perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of vinegar and cooked to that ideal tender texture without being mushy. The fried chicken and catfish were outstanding. Both were well seasoned, incredibly crispy, and tasted like they were fried in fresh grease. Every bite was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The baked macaroni and cheese was good, but it leaned a little more toward a Velveeta-style cheese sauce than my personal preference. Still a solid 9/10. I also ordered the Peach Passion Fruit Hennessy margarita, and it was superb. Smooth, flavorful, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the prices were very reasonable, and the portions were generous. If you're looking for authentic soul food in Austin, The Rolling Rooster is absolutely worth the stop. I'll definitely be back.

Would you pick a fried chicken spot for a Father's Day brunch? Probably not...but that's exactly…read morewhat my husband chose for his special day. I don't eat a lot of fried food, but sometimes you just go with the flow. Every year, we go through the same routine. Two weeks out: "Have you picked a restaurant yet?" Not yet. One week out: "Any ideas?" Still no. Then, three days before Father's Day...bam...the decision is made! Luckily, this last-minute pick didn't require reservations. This year's winner? Drum roll...The Rolling Rooster. Honestly, you've got to love the name. The Rolling Rooster is located in a strip center at the corner of Mopac and Wells Branch Parkway. It looks small from the outside, but once you step in, it opens up into a surprisingly spacious dining area. It's not fancy, but it has a warm, homey feel. We were greeted right away by Edna, who handled both hosting and serving. She was friendly and welcoming, embodying that classic Texas Southern hospitality. The atmosphere was cozy, with a smooth R&B playlist spinning in the background. As you'd expect, the restaurant focuses on Southern comfort food...think fried chicken, wings, and waffles. The standout for me was the catfish: crispy, flavorful, and coated with a slightly heavier cornmeal crust than usual, which added a nice texture. We both went with the 2 | 2 combo...two meats and two sides...choosing fried chicken wings and catfish. For sides, we had yams, fries, Mac n cheese and my favorite...grits. The food tasted like something straight out of a family kitchen...comforting, hearty, and satisfying. Portions were generous and reasonably priced, so much so that we didn't have room for dessert on the spot. We did, however, grab some banana pudding to go and I'm glad we did. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The hubby and I got to enjoy some quality time while he enjoyed one of his favorite meals...a win-win! Happy Father's Day!
