Haven't eaten here in a couple of years and should have skipped today. Your Brandon Florida location food tastes disgusting. White meat feels like I just place a handful of sand in my mouth. The black beans taste like you simply boiled them and added zero seasoning including no salt. The white rice is mushy and no salt either. I think hospital food has a better taste than this mess and that isn't saying much. Just nasty and never again. I suggest that people skip the place. Used to be a great open than fast food places. This is the last time my family will ever eat at Pollo Tropical! I ordered online and was told my order would be ready at 8:50. I arrived to find quite a few people in the dining room standing around and went to the Togo shelf where there was no food. I go stand in line and watch employees walk by everyone in line and not even look and acknowledge them. Finally someone came to take orders and when I said I had an online order he went to check for me and said that he was gonna print it and give it to them to make. Since there were so many people waiting and no food coming out I said I'd go next door to Walgreens and be back. When I returned there was still no food on the shelf. I again went to the register and he told me they were out of white rice and still hadn't made the food. I received my order exactly an hour after the time it was supposed to be ready!! After avoiding this location for a few months because of a very disappointing first experience we were pleasantly surprised with tonight's visit. We found out there is new management now and it was quite obvious by the condition of the clean lobby and the professional and courteous staff. The food was delicious and served quickly and the manager made time to come check on us during our meal. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be visiting this location again. read more

9 out of 9 free tables were dirty and we had to have one of the cashiers clean one off for us. And the floors weren't any better. They never told us they didn't have any ready. We went to ask and they told us 15 minutes it's been 45 minutes and they still haven't bought our food out. I personally think the food here its pretty descent. Of course not the same as back home when it comes to real Pollo a la Brasa, but close. The sides are always a must! Co worker and I visited the location near Providence Rd in Brandon on today. Normally our experience has always been good. Today it was just terrible. I order the 5.99 special, but did not want the rice so I ask the cashier could I have a bed of greens. He said no. Then I said give me a green salad which he was going to charge me the same price as a Ceasar salad. I then said if you going to charge me for a Ceasars salad just give me the salad. When I got the salad...it look like they took 2 leaf of lettuce and drown it in dressing. Very pissed...then my coworker ordered her food again she also wanted to substitute the rice why is that so hard. My point being TERRIBLE SERVICE. I am only giving it as much as 3 stars for the food. If you are willing to wait for it, the chicken is deliciously seasoned and grilled. The black beans were tasty and, I don't usually care for it, the fried sweet plantains were the best I ever had! I can't say anything about the rest of the food, but I had no problems with what I got. Now, on to the rest of my visit. The place was filthy. I can only imagine that they had a very busy lunch rush. Not one table was clean; I had to ask for someone to clean a table off for us. He was friendly, they all were, but he left a bottle of cleaning solution on the floor by our table when he accidentally knocked it off. The salsa bar looked...disgusting. I wasn't willing to get any closer to find out what was there. The floor was littered with napkins and food debris. They were out of some key foods too, like the red beans. So we could only try the black. Their soda fountain was out of at least two flavors, but I was happy with a coke. I honestly felt like they just lacked direction on how to keep things running in an orderly manner and the staff didn't seem to know how their job affected others. For over 25 years my wife and I have been going to Pollo Tropical restaurants, because we love the flavor of their grilled chicken. This particular Brandon Pollo Tropical had some serious problems compared to the Tampa Hillsborough avenue restaurant. We live in South Hillsborough and used to bypass Brandon & drive to Tampa for grilled chicken dinners. They now have some new managers that have seriously raised the quality of their food and waiting time, so we are frequenting the Brandon Pollo Tropical restaurant again. My wife used to hate this place, but is now very happy to eat here again. If you gave up on the Brandon Pollo Tropical it would be worth your while to try them again. read more

When the employee brought our food to the table she brought boiled yuca when I had ordered fried. When I told her it was not what I ordered she tried to tell me I had ordered boiled. In the past this was a quality restaurant with decent food and courteous staff..what happened? I had been even overlooking the fact Pollo tropical sells GMO & pesticide laden rotten food..LOL...served in toxic styro foam containers bearing the #6 recycling code #7 plastic being the most toxic. It leaches esters into food which mimics the female hormone estrogen which an over production of estrogen causes cancer such as breast cancer in women and men. Esters cause a male to form breast tissue and it may become cancerous. Now like others have commented the chicken is dry. And when I ate there the other day the rice was dry..they hardly even filled the Tropichop bowl up... all I got was rice, a few pieces of tiny dried chicken squares..and I only ask for corn and extra corn but nope they were greedy with their GMO corn....LOL. The only reason I come to this place is for their garlic cream sauce. A bit of reverse racism going on here, LOL,Yep need a wall... this evening I went to this location and LOL idunno the girl behind the counter started telling me I had to pay $4 for the sauce!!! What? Never have been ask to pay for sauce. Uh NOPE!!!! NEVER! NEVER spending a dime at Pollo tropical again..NOPE. I left after telling the dreamer I would just google the sauce recipe and make it myself..LOL Headed to publix and made the same sauce myself using ORGANIC GMO FREE INGREDIENTS ..only cost me $6 and I made a half a gallon of garlic cream sauce...YAY :D WITH NO PESTICIDES! The food at pollo tropical is decent, nothing out of this world. I recommend the grilled chicken breast, and the regular chicken dinner with sides. The Caesar salad was not as good, just ok. And the riblets were ok as well, not my favorite. I probably won't be ordering those again. As far as the side dishes, the rice, beans, and corn had good taste. This was my first and last time coming to pollo tropical. I came in and the kitchen staff were all yelling at each other! Nothing made sense. People were angry everywhere waiting for their food. Mine didn't take too long (20 minutes for a to-go plate) idk how long it usually takes since I've never been here but seeing how furious everyone else was, I was expecting to wait much longer. So I get my food and go over to the sauce bar.... Half of them are not labeled, the other half are empty, the lime juice things were all empty. I lost all faith in ever coming back :( read more
