In Miami, was looking for a dinner spot and this place had a gigantic line in front of it. Like most places, decided to see what the fuss was about. It's kind of a Cuban Boston Market. They serve up chicken, pork, and other meats with Cuban sandwiches and rice and beans. The price was very cheap, a meal with chicken sausage, 1/4 chicken, and mojo pork was 11 bucks. There was a language barrier. They had to call someone from the back to translate. They were also very slow. Took a very long time to get orders out. The food was good but basic. The rice and beans were black beans cooked in chicken fat, with no salt added. So the beans were cooked right but were not seasoned. Chicken was tender and cooked properly, but no seasoning. It's Latin fast food, if you want chicken, rice and beans in a pinch, these guys will take care of you. Only issue I continue to have are wait times in drive thru. You can easily spend 20 minutes waiting to place your order, they're also in a busy location, the business district in Doral with a lot of offices in the surrounding area. Also a lot of govt officials as SOUTHCOM is close by so between noon and 2pm it's a bit hectic. Lines in drive thru will wrap around the building. I'm not sure what they could do about it. It's popular food in a dense area. Other than this, it's decent food, affordable ($6.62 for a small Tropichop with everything on it along with a regular sized d, and filling. Restaurant screwed up an order - which baffles me when they get the entire order in writing to avoid any misunderstanding of what a customer is expecting... and I spent 15 minutes on the phone with Dendra in customer torment, oh excuse me I mean customer "service".... Gabriel empathized, he found Dendra was not only nasty and rude, but never filed the report - by the way if a customer is calling to file a complaint and you're a dick... you can pretty much expect you will now also be included in that complaint... Gabriel filed the report, filed my grievance against Dendra and confirmed the refund team would review and process within 24 hours. So simple! I don't know why this location hates the Chicken Caesar so much, but every time I order it I can't eat it.. minimum 4 times I. The last 6 weeks... order a full size chicken Caesar salad.. get the salad no dressing... do you eat a dry salad? I don't.. bye hard earned money.. again and again. I'm usually in Doral a lot around lunch time so I tend to bring my lunch with me. But on days where I forget or just didn't make lunch I opt for fast food. In my opinion I feel that Pollo Tropical is a semi healthier version of fast food than getting your usual burger or fried chicken nuggets. I have to say this Pollo Tropical (I have been to a few) is pretty good. The food is always consistent when I come and the flavors seem to be on point. What impresses me the most is the wait.. it's usually never something over 5 minutes. I've been to Pollo Tropical restaurants where the wait inside and outside is easily 10 minutes or a little over but not here. I've been lucky enough to drive in to the drive thru and quickly drive back out. This is a huge plus as my time is very limited on my break!!!! read more
