BUT, on my last visit...and for the foreseeable future, I do mean my LAST visit, as I was stepping up to the counter to place my order, I saw a small rat, race out of the kitchen. I really wish they had one of these places in the Daytona/Port Orange area. It's so good. Freshly grilled chicken, black beans, yellow rice are the must haves. The sauce bar is also a must have. I crave the "Cilantro Garlic" sauce and the "Curry Mustard". Try the sauces on everything. The salsas are good as well. They think of everything, even chopped onions and jalapenos on the sauce bar to add to your beans or pork. The chicken is so healthy, you won't feel bloated or greasy after a meal here. This place is clean, reasonably priced, has delicious food and very friendly service. You can't go wrong here. read more

This place STINKS. We placed a mobile order for pickup INSIDE, only to get there and all the doors are locked and no one will come to the door. There are now 18 cars in the slow as molasses drive thru. This place will never again see a dime of our money. I only picked one star because ZERO wasn't an option. I love pollo tropical! Freah food. Grilled chicken, Caesar salad and rice and beans for under $7! Cant beat it. And its so much healthier than other fast food joints. Dirty, filthy and nasty. We were First ones in at 10:30 am. Dirty floor. food bits left on multiple tables from night before. Railing where you stand in line was sticky. Tables wiped down with dirty rag. Sticky. Seats were dirty. Rugs dirty. Drink machine and sauce bar were dirty. There was trash and sticky stuff in the drink grate. They were clearly not sanitized and cleaned the night before. Ceiling ac dripping through the dropped ceiling. Employee came out to clean the glass door. Ha! Least of their worries. The sauce canisters had different colored sauces around the top where the lids go. This makes me think they used dirty lids to cover the night before. This was my first time ever eating at Pollo Tropical. The experience was okay. I ordered BBQ brisket which is the most expensive on their menu with a side of yellow rice. Brisket was good but somewhat dry and it was bit hard to eat because of all the small bones. The rice was tasty but maybe old or overcooked...there were many dry and crunchy parts. My husband ordered the new pineapple chicken wrap. Everything seemed to be rather small portion. The employees are nice. They forgot our flan for 10 min but they were apologetic. We ordered three meals: two chicken dinners and a chicken sandwich. In every meal, the chicken was dried out to the point of being unpalatable. The people cooking the food were incredibly rude and slow. We were overcharged for our food (didn't notice this until we had already left) and didn't get our full order. I just had to post a review so they can do better. New here and we would come often but today's visit was horrible. Sound machine wasn't working great. Drive-Thru cashier had a bad attitude and at first I took it personal then realized she was short with everyone. The chicken was dry, mac was runny, and most of the things we ordered she said they were all out of, and we waited so long for our order. I wanted to just drive away but had already paid. I will not be back which sucks because before today we loved going here. The staff was always so kind and cheerful and the food tasted great. Pollo Tropical is my go to lunch place when I'm in the area and one of my favorite fast-casual restaurants in general. Their food is delicious and the service is fast. I usually go with the regular chicken tropichop w/ corn, tomatoes, and yellow rice. It's amazing! You order at the counter and their bring it to your table-I've never waited more than 5 minutes. Definitely a place I recommend you give a try. read more

I have always had great service at Pollo Tropical except this location. The employee at the window failed to give me a receipt for my order. A couple items that I ordered were not with my order. This is one of the few competent Pollo restaurants in the area. I usually dine in with my Vietnamese friend phong for lunch. My go-to meal is the boneless chicken breast combo. It's a pretty healthy choice when paired with the balsamic tomatoes. I love the yellow rice so I take the carb hit but it's worth it. So this is slightly sad to me to report since Pollo Tropical did have some healthy options for lunch. I went to Pollo Tropical for lunch, ordered and attempted to sit. As usual, there were empty tables but there were no clean tables. I moved twice until I found a table that was less dirty. By less dirty I mean a table that had been wiped down with one of the disposable cloths the employees carry around until all that remained was a milky film. Already disgusted by my sitting arrangements, my food was brought out. On a side note, this is one of those Pollo Tropical where you order, get a number, and then sit. Your food is brought out to you shortly afterwards. I ate my ¼ white meat chicken, which was good as usual. I then munched on some croutons from my Caesar salad. When I went to fork some salad, I noticed a huge black winged object in the salad. I moved it around a little and determined it was a Jurassic bug. Now, I handle reptiles and bugs all the time but the thing that disgusted me the most is that I already felt like I was in a dirty environment before I even got my food. If the dining area was a disgusting mess, one could only wonder what the kitchen was like. With my appetite now gone, I left the salad and the untouched rice and beans on the table and walked out. Now I could have taken the food and shown the manager, but I felt that this was the final straw with Pollo Tropical. My wife and used to patronize this eatery frequently. The prices were reasonable, ample servings, clean dining room and friendly service. We been here twice recently. Prices are higher, and the portions (much) smaller. Sprite dispenser was out of syrup - just dispensing soda water. Told the staff about it (twice) and during the entire time we ate there, no one serviced the soda fountain.On both occasions, we experienced: No more do the staff bring the food to your table. You have to wait by the ordering counter to get your food. Dining room was very dirty, every table was in need of a cleaning. Waste containers were near overflowing. Men's room: No paper towels (in either dispenser.) Like I said... we're done with this place. read more

Check your order before you leave the building. My wife and I have frequented this establishment several times and the staff has never gotten our order right once. Tonight I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with garlic sauce and with a side of black beans and rice. The pork was sliced, not pulled and covered with some kind of BBQ sauce. It was over cooked and extremely chewy. There was no garlic sauce to be found. I did have rice but when I began to pour the black beans on it, I realized it was all liquid and no beans. This is approximately the third time mistakes have been made on orders placed in this restaurant. If you're the manager of this location (Sanford,FL) you need to do a better job training your staff. On occasion I will go to the Pollo Tropical in Altamonte. The food is good but I don't like to go in because it's messy and the workers seem stressed so I use the drive thru. Yesterday I was in Sanford and thought I'd try this location and dine in. Wow, this place was a disaster!! It was obviously after the lunch crowd as every table needed cleaning. The beverage and condiment station had spills and trash all over it. Also it took way too long get get the food. Others waiting were we're expressing their frustration as to how long it took. It took so long I had to get a to-go box so I could go back to work. The workers seemed nice ( except the one girl preparing the orders for the counter orders) but it's obvious they are short staffed. This is a management issue. The food was good though. read more

I love love love pollo tropical. The grilled chicken is so juicy and has great tropical spices. The rice and beans is always steaming hot and the plantains are ripe and well cooked. They have this awesome garlic cilantro sauce that goes with the chicken but I like it on the rice as well. I have used their catering for two events and the prices are amazing. When I goto a place to eat and I find a hair in my mashed potatoes I tend to get grossed out. The "ribs" are pretty lame. I have been to other pollo tropicals and they have real baby back ribs but here they have some weird thing. The bun is like a stale piece of bread. I'm not too big on the food here.
