After recently moving to downtown Miami, I was surprised by the amount of Peruvian restaurants in the area. After being extremely disappointed with my takeout experiences in the area, I decided this place was good place to try because it always looked busy. The experience was pretty interesting. Going up the elevator opened up to a very...eclectic looking place. Nonetheless once we got upstairs we were immediately sat and given menus. The only thing that confused me is if this place sharing a restaurant with Ceviche 105? Regardless my confusion, The food and service was excellent, and it finally exceeded my expectations for good Peruvian food in Miami. I might not go back for seated dining, but takeout hits the spot just as much. read more

I chose Pollos Y Jarras because of its convenience to the hotel that I was staying in it was a short walk away and I knew that my son could find something on the menu with no problem (so I thought) When I first arrived I noticed the parking! It's situated on a side street so there is street parking and then we're a couple of parking garages near by! It's just a short walk away, be mindful that this area doesn't have a lot of light! When I arrived I was greeted at the door by some of the servers I told them I needed a table for 2 and they brought me to elevator. I didn't know where I was going once I got up to the top there was someone there waiting to seat my son and I! The decor and art was nice! I really enjoyed that! The top part of the restaurant was huge was nice and they had plenty of seating available! There was a guy who came over and brought over like 5 different sauces he didn't explain what they were and what they were for or anything just brought them over! I ended up asking him did they have coloring sheets and crayons for children he said yes! And then I asked our server and she said no! Our server seemed like she may have been new! She wasn't very knowledgeable of the menu and didn't seem very confident in what she was doing! I asked for an Arnold Palmer and it was disgusting and when I explained to her what I didn't like it she tried to tell me that it has something to do with with ice lol! No sure where that came from but okay! We ended up the 1/4 white rotisserie chicken, with a side of rice and beans and my son had the kids meal chicken tender which was over priced. How's the kids meal more than the adult meal? The menu says that the 1/4 comes with rice and salad she uncharged me for 3 sides! But the chicken and rice turned out to be good and I tried the sauces that the guy never explained to me! Overall the restaurant was clean, the service was horrible and the food was decent! The food was very very tasty. In fact they would have gotten 5 stars for food alone. They lost a star on service. We waited a long time to order, didn't have appropriate cutlery throughout our meal. For example, we ordered a meat sampler with a bunch of different meats, we were five people. They brought ONE cutting knife for five people with a meat sampling main dish. That just doesn't make sense. Our meal came with two sides. We asked the waiter to name the sides, which he did. He failed to mention that one of the sides had an additional cost. We chose that side and only found out the extra cost when we got the check. The waiter was kind and apologized. But, I would have appreciated being told upfront about e tea charges. If you're a tourist just know this isn't in the "pretty" section of Miami so don't plan on site seeing too much in this area. read more

My family and I were at Bayside and we were looking for a good place to eat and found Pollos y Jarras. THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING. Every dish was delicious and everybody was extremely satisfied with the service. We were a party of 7 and they were able to find us a table in less than 10 minutes. Our server Carlos was very knowledgeable about the menu and explained every aspect of the dishes we ordered. I ordered the ceviche and it was very delicious. It had shrimp, octopus, fish and it was a high quality dish. My wife ordered the rotisserie 1/2 Chicken and it was very tender and juicy. For dessert we had the Mousse de Maracuyá and it was very delicious. It is a MUST to end your meal. I recommend this place to anybody who wishes to try GREAT PERUVIAN cuisine. read more

Went here last weekend and the food was so good! When we first arrived it was PACKED (green flag), But they led us inside to our table. The colors were so beautiful and vibrant. I had the passion fruit drink and it was so good. The food was also delicious. I really enjoyed their steak. The staff was so polite and friendly. The whole menu was in spanish, not a problem because I know spanish. They still helped my grandmother which I though was very sweet. Love this place, their chicken soup is out of this world, and their lomo salteado is a must have. For real, they have the best lomo salteado I have had in Miami. Now that it's closed due to Covid19, they are still doing deliveries or you can go pick up your order. I ordered to go pick it up and it was ready in less than 20 minutes. I have uploaded two pictures (both of lomo salteado - wasn't lying when I say it's the best in Miami). The whole Chicken is absolutely delicious!! It's the best rotisserie style chicken I've had in Miami to date. The portions are a good size, flavor is amazing, however the fries can sometimes be a little soggy. But overall, really good value and taste. The restaurant itself is usually pretty packed so expect to wait a while for a table. Although fun, the music is also very loud, so don't plan on having long conversations over dinner read more

The food was good but nothing super impressing. It did taste good and the portions are satisfying. Service was kinda a failure; we weren't brought utensils, apparently it was difficult to sit 5 so I was sat at the edge of the table in the middle of the way. Water was not brought and when I asked for water " for the table" she only brought mine. The same waitress asked the tables around us how was there food, and not that it really matters but she didn't asked us once. We went because my boyfriend said it was good, and sure it was. As we entered, they took us to the top floor in an elevator. As we entered the top floor, our table was ready for us and we ordered Aguadito Canero Soup shots for appetizers, which were good and spontaneous! Our food was all really good and our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the ordering process. However, it is a really loud environment and the tables are too close together. We could hear the conversations from the surrounding tables. The place seems huge because the far wall is a complete mirror, which resembles the reflection of the seating area. But my favorite part was how fun the roof was decorated. Definitely gives Miami vibes 100%! read more

I ordered delivery to my hotel room today. Food was wonderful but they did not send any utensils or napkins! The Aguadito Cañero soup was delish. It was a cilantro veggie soup that didn't overheat me despite the Miami heat outside! The anticucho de pollo was perfect five for lunch. Grilled chicken with Peruvian sauces, potato wedge fries drizzled with sauce and choclo. Finally the torta de alfajor exceeded all expectations. First of all, it was a hearty piece so I had plenty of leftovers for later! Second, it was moist and soft the way a perfect alfajor is supposed to be. I would come back just for this! First and foremost, a big thank you to my bartender/waiter John Steve, he made my experience here very welcoming. John Steve first asked me about my allergens (a huge plus since I am allergic to tree nuts and fish/seafood), then went over the drink and food menu with me as it was my first time eating at Pollos Y Jarras. I have had Peruvian food before but I felt that I learned so much about Peruvian cuisine from John Steve. He made me the best cocktail I have ever had. The cocktail's main liquor was Pisco, a Peruvian brandy, and was minty yet sweet. The specific cocktail I ordered was Pisco Mar Wanpu cocktail. Truly one of the best cocktails I have ever had from any bar. John Steve outdid himself again. I was given a complimentary sample of the Aguadito de Pollo soup and I could have ate a bathtub full of it. So full of flavor with cilantro, rice and soft shredded chicken. The menu is very robust and prices range from $10 to $50. I kept it simple with my entree of a shredded chicken sandwich with a homemade dipping sauce from Peru and a side of fries. I would have licked the dipping sauce clean if I wasn't in public. Even the French fries tasted better than your average run of the mill fries! The overall atmosphere is relaxed, with an open kitchen area and a bar toward the back. Pollos Y Jarras is tucked on a side street in downtown Miami by the Bayside Market. It's a bit of a hole in the wall but the small space gives way to amazing Peruvian food and drinks. A year or two ago, I had some pasta with pesto, or what looked to be pesto, at my best friend's house. I don't recall the name or the dish exactly, but she had mentioned it was Peruvian just before I ended up getting sick. This incident marked me for life, and from then onward, I was turned off by Peruvian food. Enough time has passed, though, that the aforementioned incident is but a mere bad memory. That and honestly speaking, I wanted to see my best friend from childhood, and well, it seems that these days she will only go out to eat at Peruvian restaurants. It was a case of get over it or never go out for dinner with my best friend again. Eh, I may be exaggerating, but honestly speaking, it is difficult to make plans with her given our respective schedules. After much debate, Pollos y Jarras was chosen. It was my first time at a Peruvian restaurant, so I really didn't know what to expect. Boyfriend and I had agreed on getting some sort of platter to sample different dishes, so that was we did. We got a humongous plate of Castigame Negra, Una y Otra Vez. Not even kidding - this plate could feed four people and you would have leftovers. Unfortunately or rather fortunately, depending on how you look at it, it was us two with bites from my best friend and her husband. They ordered other stuff. They ordered causas, I believe, and later on a piece of chocolate cake. I had a bite and it was ridiculously sweet. I wasn't a fan whatsoever. In terms of the rest of the food, I really just stuck to the huge platter, consisting of yuca, corn, rotisserie chicken, filet mignon (cooked medium well as a compromise between my boyfriend and myself), chicken anticucho, and churrasco steak. Now, the yuca was bland and the corn was unlike anything I have ever seen or tasted, but the meat was on point. Maybe a bit too much. I actually mixed up meats and ended up feasting on anticuchos, or cow hearts, and ugh, it is probably a good thing I didn't know what they were until late in the game. I am traumatized. I went in not wanting to try that and loved it. Probably the first time ever I feel guilty eating something. Still, I think I will get over this eventually. All things considered, the sides were boring and the meats were fantastic. The service was attentive and the interior was nice. I really liked that we sat next to the elevator and seeing people come in and out entertained us while we waited for my best friend and her husband. Not to mention the drinks we had. Those were hit or miss. Great sangria, not so much the Pisco Sour. For all my reservations about this type of cuisine, things went swimmingly. I may eventually return to this restaurant or a similar one. It wouldn't be my first choice, however, but I can now say I wouldn't be opposed to it either. read more

This restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Miami, so parking can be a challenge. However, there is valet parking near by and the metro mover is only a block away.  The layout of this restaurant is very different from other places. Once you walk in, you are greeted by the hostess who takes you to an elevator at the end of the first floor. You can see the kitchen and the bar on your way to the elevator but the actual dining room is located on the second floor. On this occasion, we decided to stay by the bar on the first floor since it was not busy and it usually gives me a chance to learn more about the restaurant.  By the bar, Alvaro took good care of us. He made some delicious cocktails. My favorite is the pisco fuego, because it is a refreshing drink with a flash of spice.  For dinner, ceviche ganador was good with just the right amount of heat. The chaufa with chicken brasa was also very tasty. I would have preferred a little more chicken mixed in the rice, but the flavors were good. Next time, I will be sure to order the chicken brasa dinner instead of the chaufa. The tray of delicious sauces from creamy to citrus-y is a nice addition to any dish.  Overall, good cocktails and food with a casual atmosphere in the middle of busy downtown. read more

Had dinner at Pollos & Jarras this evening and it was Great! Sebastian, our server was excellent. The decor as fun and colorful with balloons and llamas hanging from the ceiling. The food was delicious. I had the Chaufa Veggie, a fried rice with a Peruvian twist. My husband had La Tia Veneno, 3 skewers of beef and chicken with a yummy sauce. The servings were plentiful and we took home enough for another meal. You can easily share the meat dish with two people. The fried yucas were some of the best we've had in a long time. I've had good Peruvian food and this was definitely not it. I tried the curry soup, it tasted like seasoning soup; really no depth to it and very salty. I didn't finish it. I also tried the yucca fries, which were just okay. They arrived lukewarm and looked like they'd been tanning under the food warmers a little too long. Quite mediocre. My boyfriend got some chicken wings. These were basically mass produced previously frozen wings that were attempted to be reheated (emphasis on attempted - they were fully cooked but cold in the center) slathered with what is essentially regular honky tonk, Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce marketed as a Peruvian BBQ sauce, and stacked on a plate. Honestly some of the worst wings I've ever had. This is getting wordy so I will sum up the entrees as being full of artery clogging oils, salty, and woefully failed attempts at creative/hipster, high end ethnic food. Have to give credit to the creative wording used in the menu, which (successfully!) attempts to fool the ravenous reader into thinking they're getting a high class meal (after all, 4.7 stars on Yelp must mean something!). It only added to our amusement at our poor choice of dinner spot when a waitress dropped two glass beers on the floor which sprayed beer froth all over our neighbor and partially on my boyfriend. So glad this place opened up again, dinner in downtown miami was def slacking without Pollos y Jarras! I'm a huge fan of the Green little chicken soupp for a quick starter- it's free and I've honestly never seen anyone turn it down. The menu is incredible for big parties, normally I get the chufa and lobo saltado but last time I went in with a party of 4 our server recommended we do a party platter and that was phenomenal! We had some chicken, churrasco, rice, fries.... a table full of food (which we didn't even get to finish because the portions are huge) and it was all fantastic. This place is def one of my fav go tos, service here is always A+. Everyone is so nice, polite and helpful. Def recommend their sauces (have fun and try them all!) and the dessert that looks like a swirl of heaven! You won't regret it lol read more

The dining room is on the second floor. I would suggest sitting by the window if you want to get a view. Pisco sour is the best way to start! Very tradicional and refreshing peruvian cocktail. My family and I ordered a "fuente" as appetizer. It had a fresh ganador ceviche mixto which had a good mild spice. choritos (mussels) a la chalaca was topped with a mix of small diced corvina with choclo corn, onions, and lime juice. The leche de tigre with giant shrimp. The rolls that this dish had was out of this world! One was called "el cubiche" with plantain slices on top! Ufff! And the other was a "makki" or yellow potatoe roll filled with crab! We continued with the whole rotisserie chicken that came with your choice of two sides. Great option for sharing! The lombayeque green rice was phenomenol! It had pieces of corn and carrots so it had a good texture. The chicken was well condimented and cooked! My sister comes here frequently and told me I had to try this place. I'm visiting from Orlando and am so glad we came here. The place is two story and I love how the walls are in neon letterings. The food was great. We shared half of a rotisserie chicken and churrasco steak. It came with fried and rice. We loved it and the rotisserie chicken was so moist and flavorful.
