I had a Sam's Oktoberfest to start. We ordered cheesesteak fries and a pretzel to share as apps. I then had a cheesesteak sandwich which was really good! The kitchen was also overwhelmed. I saw people leaving with bag fulls of food. For $2 tacos people were likely ordering by the truckload. Our order took 40 mins to reach the table. And to be honest, I wanted more food but couldn't afford to wait close to an hour for it. I will say that the owner was walking to the tables and let us know what was going on- totally appreciated it. She also gave us a discount to help make things right which we also appreciated. We gave the discount and the tip to the waitress. The waitress was phenomenal. Clearly under pressure. She knew that we were antsy because of the wait and she really did try to be extra attentive with drinks and chips. Big kudos to her. New place going thru the growing pains. The meal came with a baked potato, steamed vegetables, and two dozen steamed clams, all washed down with a cold bottle of Briar's root beer. Pub 199 feels like walking into a natural history museum inside a hunting lodge, surrounded by taxidermy and rustic decor. The service is consistently excellent, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the prices remain very reasonable.
