Incredible pizza, and really kind wait staff. Our server made the evening even more fun than it already was, despite being extremely busy with several other full tables in his zone. Two of us ordered pizzas, and one of us ordered a salad. All was delicious, I would feel confident ordering literally anything off the menu here. We also had the Classica bruschetta which I could have eaten so much more of. They also cater, which I found out two days after our visit when they came in to cater dinner at the conference I was attending in Phoenix. Their catering was just as good as their in-house food, since they fire the pizza in a mobile oven right there in front of you. Went on a Friday night with a friend visiting from out of town. I had previously gone to their Biltmore location and enjoyed it. This location is just closer to home and we were already downtown. It was busy so we sat at the bar because it wasn't busy. Tried to order an espresso martini flight each when the 2nd bartender butted in and told us we weren't allowed to do that because it's too much alcohol for one person and told the bartender taking our order that it's more than 4oz of liquor. Which I find interesting considering the flight is 4 very small espresso martinis that tasted like no alcohol was even in them. I'd be surprised if there was even 1oz in each drink. Also, at the Biltmore location a friend has ordered the flight for himself and it was no issue. After we got the flight it felt like both bartenders were avoiding us. They never checked on us. Eventually got one of their attention and ordered a pizza, which was really good. Wont be returning to this location. I'd rather drive further and continue going to the Biltmore location. read more

Coming from LA, I wasn't expecting to be wowed by the restaurant scene in Phoenix but POMO was amazing! From the ambience to the service and the food, everything was a 5 star experience. It was actually very crowded considering I came for an early dinner on a Wednesday so I definitely recommend a reservation which is easy to make through Open Table. We were seated at a 2 top in the middle of the restaurant and it was initially very bright in the restaurant but as the night went on they dimmed the lights creating more of a vibe. The pizzas were both so good, and the crust was perfectly chewy. The portions are also pretty big and I finished less than half of my pizza. It definitely rivals some of my favorite pizza spots in LA. If you're not willing to wait hours for the famed Pizza Bianca, this is an amazing option. Though I've visited the Phoenix area quite a few times I never really spent a lot of time in the city, opting out for hole-in-the-walls in Tempe or Chandler instead. However, during this summer I met up with a new friend and she was raving about how amazing the food was at Pomo so I had to try it. Let me tell you, it was a great introduction to the Italian cuisine in Phoenix. Firstly, the parking is quite simple. This building is located right next to a pay-to-park parking lot. You simply remember the spot number you parked in, park at the kiosk, and you can walk within tens of feet to Pomo's entrance. As customary to most restaurants in Phoenix the exterior seating had misters going to cool the air. Considering this summer the evening temperatures were record highs it made sense to sit inside. When you do go inside you get a contemporary, college style bar feel. In fact, we sat at the bar. The staff was receptive and you could see most of the staff were in their 20s so that college vibes checks out. The bar is filled with different types of beers on tap, decent wine selection, and cocktails. If you like to drink with your meal you'll love this place. Or maybe you love food with your drinks. Both work. The food though is what's amazing. I was surprised how good everything tasted here. To start, the bruschetta prosciutto was absolutely phenomenal. The mixture of the savory and saltiness of the prosciutto mixed with the sweetness of the fig and honey created a symphony of flavors and textures, especially when the crunch of the crusty bread is added. Going to the pastas and you have this amazingly rich yet light flavors of mushroom and umami from the gramigna boscaiola. Thing of curly type of pasta that's looser and longer than macaroni elbows. It is such a satisfying experience that as you consume it you don't want anything to ruin it by eating other food. You only want tunnel vision for this plate. The torchio all'arrabiatta is also incredible if you love spicy food. It's like a kick to the face with the Calabrian chili in the sauce. Though vegan you could always add a protein to it to help balance all the spice. Many people recommend the pizza here however when I visited I was too caught up on the pastas. It'll have to wait for next time. Strangely enough, the biggest upset of the night actually came from the desserts. You would think with such appealing food to begin with the dessert would be a high point, a balancing note to a complete meal but unfortunately it all fell flat. We ordered a special dessert that was similar to a panna cotta with fresh berries and though it wasn't terrible the berries were the highlight. We also got some gelato and it just didn't hit the spot. A shame because the sweets at the end would of made such a great experience overall. Pomo is going to be one of these restaurants where you can go with friends, a group, or on a date. It has something for everyone and has the right atmosphere where you feel happy to be in such a positive space. Next time you find yourself in this area make sure you check out Pomo. read more

Just yum! We ordered the formaggi and the Pomo pizza. Also the honey and ricotta focaccia appetizer. The focaccia was so soft and delicious! Add the ricotta and honey and it's just a match in heaven! So delicious! For the pizza- the crust was the best part! So fluffy and delicious! The formaggi was definitely the better pizza. The Pomo just tasted basic. Still good but I preferred the formaggi. Each pizza carries six slices so definitely doable for a hungry person or to share. We also got the torta Nutella. Now I usually hate Nutella but this slice of chocolate goodness was warm and melted on the tongue. It came with vanilla gelato which just pairs with it perfectly. Totally recommend getting dessert. I loved walking in hearing the Divine Feminine by Mac Miller. We came on Christmas Eve and it was pretty empty around 2pm. There is street parking out front. There are lots of old Italian themed photos in the wall and you can watch pizza made at the wood burn fire. I decided to get lasagna. We also had the zuppa Al funghi and meatball panini. One of the best pizzas I have had. I enjoyed the sausage and mushroom pizza I ordered. I absolutely love pizza with a slightly crispy crust on the bottom. I don't even mind ones that are made with lavash bread. Generally I like it to also has a soft bread layer right above the crispy crust. I don't like the bread layer to be too thick. I thought that the cheese tasted good. We thought the pizza a tad small. We would have liked it to have been larger. I I am sad that they closed the Gilbert location. They have a lot of locations situated in the north part of the valley. I would like them to expand to chandler They could open a new Gilbert location too. Their MARGHERITA pizza with veg tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmigiano, basil sounded good. To bad it isn't priced slightly less than the meat options. We came here after realizing that the wait for Pizzeria Bianco was more than 3 hours and that it was impossible for us to get a table there, and it turned out that it was a great decision to come to Pomo instead! We didn't have to wait for a table and were quickly sat down even though the restaurant was very busy on a Tuesday night. We ordered the margherita, ortolana, and truffle pizzas to share between four people. The pizza were reasonably sized and we couldn't finish them all. All three were solid in terms of taste, but my favorite was the truffle pizza which had mushrooms and truffle oil over a thick layer of cheese. It was sooo good! The cheese was thick without being overly heavy, and the truffle oil just made it so much better. Once we were done with food, the server brought out two cups of gelato for us, saying that they were on the house because we had to wait before we were able to order. To be honest we didn't mind the wait, and it was very nice that she gave us a sampler of different gelato, with sorbet flavors in one cup, and creamier flavors in the other. My favorite flavor was the pistachio, and there were so many chunks of pistachio in the gelato. Overall we had a great meal here at Pomo, thanks for the amazing food and service! read more

We came on a Sunday night and got the Italian board, the panzanella salad, and the ortolana pizza. I enjoyed them in that order. Since my last visit to Pomo, the menu and specials have changed, I would say drastically. Gone is the beloved reverse happy hour. I used to love the Pioggia and Fiore drinks on their normal happy hour menu, but they're also gone and have been replaced with other drinks that aren't appealing to me. There's a whole new area of the drink menu dedicated to espresso martinis. Their Mulo is now the "Mulo Italiano" with some ingredient changes. I was also pretty sad to see that their calamari appetizer was removed from the menu. I opted for their Fresca drink, and it tasted good but the passionfruit drink is very similar to something I can get for cheaper somewhere else downtown. I probably won't be coming back here but I'll certainly see their old menu as an enjoyable memory... read more

My coworkers and I had an after hours get together here this week. We had a party of 7 and were seated rather quickly, considering. The service was great! They took really good care of us and allowed for some substitutions considering the majority of us have different dietary restrictions. That in itself is usually a nightmare for servers, but ours took it in stride. Anyway, I had the garden salad and added shrimp. The shrimp were really big and well seasoned.
