I was in the neighborhood for work. I ordered the lunch special. Available M-F 10am-4pm for $10.50. Includes 4 pieces of fish, 3 hush puppies, 3 pieces of shrimp, fries and soda. I also got a side of oysters and a soft shell crab. It was a 20 minute wait. I was already there and paid, but was really contemplating asking for a refund. The guy was not very customer service forward. He was like a robot. Not very emotional. Just going through the motions. While waiting, I struck up a conversations with other customers waiting. They love the food. There's only the man and I assume his wife cooking the food. My food was finally ready. No inside seating so I went outside where there are two picnic benches with umbrellas. My food was not hot. Like it was sitting there a bit. The food was still delicious. I guess sorta glad it wasn't hot as I had to scarf down my food since my lunch is only 30 minutes. I did put it in the toaster oven when I got home later for dinner. The place was busy. Lots of people coming in. The special comes with 3 fish and 3 shrimp and hush puppies. The review about the weak customer service is true; it's the culture. The comment about the run down shop front is true. I've been to other Korean/Asian run fish fry stores a lot in Westchester vicinity. This owner doesn't show much love. Just be prepared for smile-less service and just enjoy the food. The worst experience I have had at any restaurant in years. It was 10:40am and completely empty. First time here. I ordered the combo dinner. The man at the front asked what kind of fish. I asked what kind of fish they had.? He said you can read it. I asked read from where? He pointed at the counter. I asked where? I was confused why he just would not tell me. He then walked away from the counter into the back area. I stood there for a minute while he Ignored me. Walked back again and said OK. I'll read for you. I asked why he was being so rude? He didn't reply. He then began reading the type of fish. But in a rude dismissive tone. I don't understand how businesses expect customers to spend their money on a product when all aspects are not appropriate. I'll never spend money at this place. It's unfortunate. Haven't been here in over 20 years and was happy to come back. Total hole-in-the-wall, but don't let the outside or inside fool you. Got the Dinner Combo for $12.50 - 4pc fish, 3pc oyster, 3pc shrimp, fries, and coleslaw. The fried fish (and everything else) was amazing and still super affordable. They barely raised prices after all this time. Stopped by around noon, waited about 15 minutes, and it came out piping hot and delicious. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. Don't go in expecting a fancy restaurant--this is an old-school spot with character. Don't judge it by appearances, because the food speaks for itself. We ordered the Family Meal A with half red snapper and half catfish, and everything was incredible. The red snapper was crispy on the outside and flaky and tender inside. The catfish was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. The fried shrimp and fried crab were excellent, and the portions were very generous. We also ordered the soft shell crab and WOW just WOW! So good!!!! The mac salad, hush puppies, and fries were all fresh and delicious, and they included several great sauces that paired perfectly with the seafood. Be prepared to wait about 30 minutes, because everything is cooked fresh to order. AND YES THE ASIAN MAN HELPED US AND HE WAS WHAT WE EXPECTED, HE'S THERE TO DO BUSINESS, that's what anyone expects. Came here right when it opened just after 11am. The wait was 25 minutes and it makes sense. At this point I consider myself a returning customer, I was surprised that the lunch special was still $10. Not just a steal, but outstanding lunch. I've heard you can place phone orders but I decided to go in and order in person to get the full experience. Theirs not much to the place it's small and you place your order are given a number then they head into the back and cook. We were skeptical about a fish market in Pomoma (we're used to ones by beaches/marinas), but after a bad experience at Hilltop causing us to walk out we gave this place a try. The gentleman was quick and straight forward in taking the order. We both ordered the fish & jumbo shrimp combo which took about 20 mins (there were a few people and phone orders ahead of us). The batter was nicely flavored, however, the fish was sliced very thin and was coated a little too thick making it hard detect any fish taste. I think it would be better to have 3 thicker slices of fish, than 4 thin pieces. Cocktail sauce for the shrimp would have been a nice contrast as well. First of all, everybody needs to stop complaining about the owner's dry attitude, he's running a business, not a Tea Party. Grow Up! If you want smiles, etc., go hang out with your Grandmother. Also take in to consideration where they are located. They are not very far from what used to be considered gang territory. We're lucky they're still in business. I was there one night and a guy lost his temper over his order taking too log, he walked out, kicked in the wooden door at the sidewalk and a piece of the door went flying and hit a woman sitting next to it. Instead of the owner going after him or even scream at him, he brushed it off and I'm sure that he's experienced this kind of behavior before. Order ahead, get your food, take it home and enjoy it. Over the years this place has sold flavorful fish; welll seasoned and oh so tasty! I don't know if it has changed ownership or not. However, something has changed that has resulted in an inferior product, compared to past years. I ordered 1lb of red snapper and was so disappointed. The fish had no flavor, AT ALL! Hot cardboard batter is the best description I can offer. Sad to say, after years of enjoying their product, I won't be returning. Gotta find me a better place that has flavor.
