I had a very pleasant experience stopping by El Chato Cocina Peruana in Pomona for a quick bite, and I'd give it a solid 4 stars! It's a fast-casual setup, so you just order your food right at the counter and then find a seat. The vibe is a cute, cozy little mom-and-pop restaurant, and parking was a breeze in the shared lot. We ordered the lomo saltado and the ceviche mixto, and both dishes were pretty good. However, the portion sizes could definitely be a little better. The lomo saltado in particular could have used more meat, especially considering the price they are charging for it. As for the ceviche mixto, the flavor was good, but the fish itself was a little bit stringy. Overall, it was a really nice experience with great flavors. It is a fantastic little spot in Pomona for Peruvian food, and I would definitely come back again!

My friend and I came here for dinner after work. We ordered at the counter, and the food was brought to our table when it was ready. You can choose your own table. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but there was a steady flow of customers eating in and taking out. I tried the ceviche de pescado, the toasted corn, and the yuca frita. I had the maracuya drink as well. I enjoyed everything I ordered. The woman who helped us even gave me an extra serving of a sauce I liked. My friend enjoyed her salchipapas. They have a catering menu as well. Overall, we were pleased and would be happy to return.

This is my new favorite place. The food is incredibly fresh. The taste is awesome. I get the lomo Saltado. But you can't come here and not get the chicken soup! It's 100 degrees out but that's not stopping me. Staff and service are great. Very friendly

Fairly new restaurant in downtown Pomona. Easy parking. Stopped in for lunch with several coworkers and had a wonderful experience. Excellent service from the woman at the front counter. We thought that it's a little pricy, but the quality of the meats and the dishes were excellent, so you get what you pay for! A couple of us had the Lomo Saltado ($20.99), which is made from filet mignon and comes with steamed white rice. One of us also tried the daily special, a Aji de Gallina (chicken) with potato and white rice, along with a small bowl of the daily soup, all for $14.99. I sampled both and they were delicious. We'll definitely be stopping in here again. Highly recommend.

I went here after going to the bank that's in the same plaza, I saw that they opened up recently. They have a few tables inside and the staff was nice. I usually get their chicha morada and lomo saltado ($20.99). The portion was a good size, the sauce was not too salty and the beef was tender and soft. The french fries were crispy, tossed along with slices of tomato and red onions. My brothers liked it as well and asked me to pick up some food from here.

I tried the fish ceviche and lomo. Such great flavor and generous serving size. The lady who is working here treated us like family.

The best ceviche I've had in recent memory. The fried plantains make a perfect vehicle of delivering the ceviche from the bowl to your mouth. With two different kinds of corn on the side, this is a true New World treat.

The service here was unbelievably great! they were so welcoming the second i walked in the door. Went over all there amazing dishes they have and the drinks are so good! Homemade drinks i cant pronounce the drink names but there was a purple one and yellow one, i got the yellow one and it was so yummy! The service alone was so great I'll def be back! The food is all freshly made I'm a very picky eater, and the dish i got was something i normally wouldn't get but it was so yummy. It wasn't heavy on my stomach either it was just perfect didn't feel all stuffed. It was the perfect amount! You have to go check this place out!!!

I'm beyond happy to see a Peruvian spot opening up locally. The service does not disappoint and everything was cooked fresh to order. I want to point out that the quality control is superb, every bite of the Lomo saltado was delicious and edible. Often times there will be pieces that should have been removed before grilling and serving that are not but this was not the case here at El Chato. Every bite melted in my mouth and there was enough of the juice to season the rice as well. I felt the serving size on the Lomo was a tad bit small but it made up for that with the quality and flavor which was spot on. Ceviche mixto was mouth watering delicious and there was plenty of leche de tigre for the serving. Yuca and the sauce "chato sauce" that accompanied the appetizer were so good I ordered a second serving. Platano were piping hot and cooked to perfection. I will def visit again but probably for lunch. We spent $90 on the items I listed and 2 sparkling waters.

But it was more than the food; it was the service that made it so memorable. Our family had just arrived in Claremont for the first time; didn't know the area and were starving. Saw Inka Trails on Yelp and thought it looked good but it was about to close in 30 mins so we called to check if we could still make it. The lady who answered the phone was warm and welcoming, telling us to come on by. What followed was some of the most delicious food I've had, on par with Michelin-starred restaurants I have had the pleasured to dine at in Bangkok, San Sebastian, Paris...It was home cooking with the best ingredients - you can taste the freshness of the fish and vegetables and the fragrance of the herbs. Highly recommend the fish rice soup, the fried fish and fish stew in tomato broth. It was serious one of the best meals we have had. So the food was 5 stars, but what made me write this review was the owner Patty. She was warm and gracious. Asked us what brought us to Claremont and when we told her we were there to tour colleges, she was kind to share her insights on the school, experiences with the students, told us about safety and transits in the area. Remember this was all after the restaurant was already scheduled to be closed for the evening. We were never rushed and Patty was sincere and kind. As a frequent traveler and woman in business, I appreciate that. The experience was a highlight of our college visits and I hope to return to Inka Trails for another spectacular meal soon in the near future.

I had the Tallarin Saltado de Mariscos and the dish was fabulous. The mariscos included abundant shrimp, calamari rounds, and mussels, along with tomatoes, onions, red bell pepper, and green onions, of course mixed with tender pasta. This dish can readily serve two. My guest had the Tallarin Saltado de Carne, which was similar to the de Marisco dish, only with asada rather than seafood. It was a huge serving, with over half coming home for later. The table included the green peruvian ahi sauce and some warm bread rolls. The sauce was nice and spicy and the rolls were slightly toasted and served hot. The bread helped mop up the outstanding sauce on the mariscos dish. Of course, Inca Cola was available and a great accompaniment to Tallarin Saltado. Prices are flat out amazing and late lunch service on a Sunday was spot on. The food and table service warrant 5 stars, but the business practice of charging a 4% fee to use the credit card is downright shameful. If this fee was disclosed, it was clearly not obvious. Inca needs to modernize and build their credit card use costs into their overhead cost. What's next, a table cleaning fee, a salt and pepper fee, a dishwashing fee?

Also, they didn't provide extra sauce when we took the leftovers home, which was a bit disappointing. And they charge $1 for credit card payments, I wish there had been a sign indicating this somewhere on the menu or near the register.
