I have been to Ponko a few times at Lenox Mall some time ago, but I have never been to actual storefront. This location happens to be not even 5 minutes from my home, AND it's the flagship location, which is pretty cool! I didn't know that until I read some of the other reviews here. I was craving a good chicken sandwich, and Ponko delivered! I got the sandwich combo with fries. I got the sandwich to be spicy too. It was SO GOOD. I got it to-go, as I had to get back home, but it travelled well and stayed hot! The portion size was about average. I was still pretty hungry after eating everything, but not a huge deal. I got a side of BBQ sauce as well. But the fries and sandwich tasted really really good! Upon getting my food from the front register attendant, she even asked me if I wanted any additional sauces (free of charge), and I told her I would love the ranch and Ponko (OG) sauce. She was so friendly and was happy to give them to me. While waiting for my food, I did a little walk around the place. This location is honestly, pretty big! They a bar, plenty of tables/booths/high tops, bathrooms upstairs and downstairs, and an outside area in the front where you can sit too! There is also a small condiments section too. I love my visit to this location, and I look forward to coming back! They have a pretty decent sized menu too, so I may try something different the next time!

I've been wanting to try PONKO Chicken for a while, so I finally stopped in to see what it was about. First impression -- I really liked the bar area. It adds a nice vibe to the space and makes it feel like more than just a quick grab-and-go spot. The overall setup is clean, modern, and welcoming. The food was good. Nothing that blew me away, but definitely not bad either. Solid, enjoyable, and worth trying at least once. One of the employees stood out in the best way. He may have been the manager, but even if he wasn't, he absolutely had the presence and professionalism of one -- friendly, attentive, and clearly invested in making sure customers had a good experience. Overall, I left satisfied and glad I finally tried it. I wouldn't discourage anyone else from checking it out, though it's probably not a place I'll return to regularly. Still, a worthwhile stop if you've been curious.

I ordered for curbside pickup at noon, prime lunch time. However, my meal was prepared within a reasonable amount of time and got when I arrived. Everything was made and seasoned well. The portion size was perfect and I appreciate they package the mushrooms separately. Overall, I give the Fried Mushroom Salad and service - A+ This is my second time visiting this location. Each time I selected curbside pickup. Each time I ended up having to go inside to get my food. I wonder if they no longer actually offer this service?

This was a random lunch break. I wanted to try something new! The atmosphere was welcoming and the establishment was very clean. Clean bathrooms and setting areas. The service was quick! I just think this is an acquired taste. Maybe I ordered the wrong things idk. But it just wasn't my cup of tea. Nothing wrong with that at all. The food was good just didn't appeal to me the way I expected ! The Georgia peach was carbonated but it was strong for $8

First ones in for lunch so it was a bit quiet. The staff seemed like they were still getting things ready for the lunch rush. Food is good, if a little odd. I feel like some of the items are a little off the wall and don't really go together. The chicken is really good though! Great, big portions.

This plaza is also home to the very good Temp Doeloe (check that review) and China Hot Pot (aka Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot). The parking for this plaza is pretty tight but depending on your arrival time you should be able to find a space - might be a good idea to carpool just in case. I attended a meeting here of my regular Buford Highway Restaurant Clawr group - actually we had tried to come here once before but the guy was about to close, so this time we came earlier, only to find that you had to call ahead to get the whole duck (which is what we were the most interested in). This sparse, brightly painted place is more of a butcher than a restaurant - where fans can buy various animal bits like Duck head, neck, feet, wing, tounge or gizzard (similar for chicken), also cuts of beef tripe, stomach and tendon or pork ear, feet and leg. They also have several seafood items like crawfish, river snails and mussels. It's my understanding that this is a particular style of traditional Chinese cooking where the focus is on all the bits that are often discarded in the US. It's for a discerning palate and stuff you might find from street-food vendors in large Chinese cities. For Atlanta this is a way to get flavors you wouldn't otherwise find, perhaps to deal with a longing for home. Thus the clientele is made up mostly of Chinese nationalists. We opted for two very similar dishes (we weren't aware how similar until we got them) - one was a soup with clear noodles and the other basically the same thing without the broth. I thought the broth fairly decent and the bits fairly fresh if very rich. I don't mind tripe, beef stomach, blood sausage and the like but I try to only get it in occasional bites - getting a huge bowl was a bit overwhelming. I think if you're looking for something interesting this might be the place to start - I'm not too sure if I'd have this as a destination. The guy behind the counter was not very engaged, seeming to spend all his time on his phone, basically oblivious to us - I don't think we fit into his typical demographic. For us, this restaurant is the reason to come to Atlanta :) The must-orders on our list are fish hot pot, green beans with pork, spicy chicken, and salt and pepper chicken. We've also had dan dan noodles, cumin lamb, and other menu items. All good! The entrees are large for sharing with a group. We typically order too much on purpose, so we can have another great meal when we roll into a hotel that night. This time we also had peach ice cream. It was delicious and it looked almost too pretty to eat :) And made for hands that get messy-there's a popsicle stick to hold it and a pretty base to catch drips. The whole setup is like a mini food hall with several authentic Chinese spots to choose from--but Chong Qing is where I landed. I ordered the crispy chicken with garlic sauce and swapped the white rice for a side of house lo mein (yes, it's an upcharge, but worth it). Everything came out on real dishes--not to-go boxes--which I loved. You order and pay at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Now let's talk about the food... DELICIOUS. The spice level was just right--flavorful with a nice kick, but not overpowering. If you like it hotter, you can definitely add more heat, but I was perfectly satisfied as is. The lo mein was really good too--veggies were fresh with a nice crisp (those onions and carrots were hitting!), and everything tasted well-balanced. Only small note: I wish there was a little more meat in the dish, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. And let me say this--the portion size is VERY generous. I ate until I was full and still had just as much left to take home, which is always a win in my book. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try more. If you're in Chinatown Market and not sure what to pick, Chong Qing Hot Pot is a solid choice. 4/5 stars for me!

My group had 5 people, so we had to wait a bit to get seated, but the staff was able to navigate that really well. The food was delicious! I got the Beef Chow Fun Ho, and for an appetizer, I got the roti and the curry. I would highly recommend both! The roti was flaky and soft- it paired so well with the curry. The beef chow fun was good as well, but it tastes better with this chili sauce (it could be it was seasoned just fine and my taste buds are dead from all the spice I eat). That sauce elevated the flavors even more. The prices were fairly priced for what you get, and I will say, though, if you come with a group of 5 or more, they will charge you a 20% tip automatically. I did not mind at all because the waitress we had was very attentive and checked up on us several times during our meal.
