Our pool cover has really been nothing but trouble. We have had it repaired by this vendor multiple times and had it completely replaced once. It breaks down far too frequently. Our pool is irregularly shaped, and has landscaping features around it that prevent us from installing an automatic cover. Zack was very good about showing us our options. We ended up getting a manual snap down cover. We plan on using it as a winter cover, to keep the debris from the winter storms out of the pool. In the Spring and Fall, we can use a regular solar blanket cover. In the Summer, we don't cover the pool. The installer did a good job, and gave us a good demonstration on how to cover and uncover the pool, as well as answer all our questions. The new cover is working really well at keeping debris out of the pool, since it snaps down over the pool edges. Pool Covers Inc also supplied the drain pump that sits in the center of the cover, to drain rainwater. The cover and reel system both are high quality materials. We are hoping that we'll get a long service life out of this system. read more

The previous owner had lost their dog to drowning and installed the cover, and now you can literally walk across the pool safely (though that harms the cover, so don't make a habit of it). The expense and hassle of installing a cover is worth it for the safety it provides. As expected, it had to be replaced after 7 years with a new one, and they did a quick and professional job of it. Once or twice, we've had mechanical problems develop, and the techs have been out promptly to do a repair. Now we've signed up for yearly maintenance to try to avoid any breakdowns. Sure, you might have some trouble with phone "customer care," but pool companies are usually strong on the service tech end of things and maybe not so smooth on the computers-and-telephones aspect of the job. Our pool initially had a safety cover from Pool Covers, Inc. When it needed replacing (the covers typically last about 7 years), we didn't do any research to see what else was out there. We just had them come out and install a new cover, since the framework was already in place and we knew it worked well to: * keep heat in pool * keep leaves, dirt, and debris out of pool when the cover is closed * maintain chemicals in pool * maintain water level in pool * support the weight of kids, dogs, etc. (they can walk on the cover, though we didn't allow it for the longevity of the cover) We need an electric drill to open our cover, so it really is a safety cover an impenetrable to kids. There is a kind that you just flip a switch to open and close, but it costs over one thousand dollars more than the kind the kind that you use the drill to open and shut, so we went with the less expensive and less convenient option. The covers come in different colors. We chose a dark grey to draw more heat into the pool. We have had the cover jump the track a few times when it wasn't lined up correctly, and that was very inconvenient to get it back on track. Usually my husband can fix it, but one time a solar contractor (not one we went with) tried to close our cover, bungled it, and submerged our pool cover in our pool. We needed a repair guy from the company to come fix it. I only wish that for the hefty price of the safety cover, the cover lasted longer than 7 years and never jumped the tracks. We are very happy with how well it works to keep the pool safe, clean, and heated. read more

Warranty only lasted a few years (if that?). For such an expensive item, you'd think they would cover a bit more.

It took over 13 days and numerous phone calls to get our pool cover serviced. It would not open. They never called back, never called before coming as they promised, and could not give me an approximation of a service date. I called their office at 2 pm, got a recording, and was told to call back during their office hours of 8 am - 4 pm.!!! They took our credit card before any service was performed. They invoiced without any discussion of the actual charges on the invoice. They charge $220/hr and $110/ half hour. We were charged over $500 labor to: 1) perform routine maintenance and 2) replace a sensor. When the cover was installed in 2018, I signed a maintenance agreement whereby they would service the cover once a year. THEY HAVE NOT COME ONCE IN SIX YEARS FOR MAINTENANCE! This company provides the worst customer service in every regard. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

I can't believe these people are saying my review is false. It is not false. Be warned. Specifically: first, I did not approve the charge. They forced my mom to approve it in person while I was out and required her to present a card before they did anything. We were not told the amount before or after. Simply required to present a card and sign before they would walk onto the property. Second, the representative was here for 10 mins not an hour as the president has just claimed in her reply. I have no idea what they charged as they never told us !! We're waiting for the credit card statement to learn what the charge was. I even followed up to ask and they refused to say. Third, they maintain our pool cover. They have been pushing us to replace it for a huge price - like $10k. They last saw it less than a year before. Fourth, after the rip off dance with these folks we had someone by on the next Tuesday who fixed it for less than $100. Sitting by the pool as I write this. It's working great. That's a pretty suspicious pattern huh? Pushing for a full replacement on something that can be fixed for less than $100... It was a short circuit that caused the issue by the way. Totally minor issue which was "unsolvable" by their technician who clearly is only incentivized to push large ticket full replacements. Fifth, I gave these people every opportunity to fix this and do right by us. They decided not to. I called and texted and frankly through this yelp war have expected them to reach out to apologize. They have not done anything to show that they care about us as customers. If they had done their best to make us feel comfortable with working with them then I wouldn't have written a review, positive or negative. The fact that they didn't even say sorry for the rip off act is why I am writing this to warn all of you to STAY AWAY. There are a lot honest hard working people out there. It was a big job as we had to change the shape of the existing pool in order to get a cover that was on the pool surface instead of on the pool deck. It has made life so much easier! Later the next week, we received a credit for any future service needed. UPDATE 2: So through the last two years, the pool cover has went off the tracks at least 15 times. Finally called them to service, and of course our credit that was given to us had expired. So we cancelled the appointment, because there is no way in hell are we paying anymore money to these people for such an inferior product and horrible installation and service. This company is awful to deal with. We ha d our cover installed with them several years ago and the main spindle failed. Though it was still under warranty the company refused to replace it at no charge even though they had been out to service our cover routinely. We agreed to pay for it since it was either that or go somewhere else and get a completely new cover so I felt like this was extortion. Furthermore, when they did fix it they chipped our pool coping. Now a few months later and our cover is once again stuck in the closed position and we just got off the phone with them and they are saying they will have to replace the whole cover! Very frustrating and I wish we had used someone else to begin with. I'd also like to know why all the 1 star reviews are in the "Not Recommended" category and all the good reviews are the ones showing up.
