When we entered the tiny dining room, we were greeted by walls covered with hand colored dollar bills. A warm fire was welcome on the chilly morning. The owners quickly seated us and took drink orders. The owner explained that they moved from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. All the food is prepared fresh by hand and authentic. I shared a Crab Cake Po'Boy with hubs. The sandwich was a daily feature and huge. Really huge. And delicious. My brother had the Oyster Po'Boy that I highly recommend. I tasted the large succulent, hand breaded oysters. This is the sandwich that makes you want to make the trip to Gatlinburg. My daughter and SIL had a half Muffalatta sandwich, which was huge and fresh packed with olives, meats, cheese and other good stuff. The kids shared a fish platter which came with a huge fried white fish and home fries. They actually ate their whole plate. The kid's meals are awesome. This is possibly the best cafe in Gatlinburg. The owners make you feel like family, the food is awesome and the dining room is interesting and cozy. We took the trolly into town so we didn't have to deal with parking. Parking is a bear downtown.

Had a wide variety of poboys and they were all very good with traditional bread that was great. Everything is ala cart so if you want fries you need to order them. Jambalaya was a bit of a miss. Missing flavor and okra. Very small restaurant with one person cooking so the food came out in waves. First sandwich to last for a table of 8 spanned about 10 minutes. Food is good enough for a 5.

This is terrific" I enjoyed a grilled chicken sandwich while my dad dined in the Greek Bowl with tater tots. The food was fresh, very tasty, but it was mostly the attentiveness of everyone who works here. They stopped by and made sure we had everything we needed and always with a smile. My mom originally wanted to get "take out", but the outdoor seating with umbrellas in the courtyard was too pleasant to pass up. We will be back.

The area is still under development but is nice. HUGE outdoor area to sit and relay with a beverage and dinner. Walked up to the counter, greeted warmly and told what to expect. Order at the counter, get a pager, place it in the designated spot on your table. That way they know where you are seated. Drinks came really quickly and were mixed just right. Food followed shortly after. It was tasty and priced right. Wanted to get a second drink and sit outside but the babysitter was about out of time. Great beer wall where you choose your own beverage. Lots of tables inside and out. Staff was really friendly.

Sometimes the most frustrating restaurant experiences aren't the terrible ones…read more They're the ones that are so close to being really good. That's how I felt about Mama's Chicken Kitchen. I came in with high expectations. The restaurant has strong reviews, it's part of the Johnson Family of restaurants, and I've enjoyed several of their other establishments over the years. So I walked in expecting a meal that would have me planning a return visit before I even paid the check. What I got instead was one of the strangest cases of missing seasoning I've encountered in quite some time. Let's start with the positives. The people here are genuinely nice. Friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and seemed to care about providing a good experience. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and inviting. And the kitchen clearly knows how to cook food. The fried chicken was cooked beautifully. Crispy on the outside. Juicy on the inside. Exactly the texture you're hoping for when you order Southern fried chicken. The problem? The seasoning apparently called in sick. This chicken had all the flavor intensity of a weather report. No noticeable salt. No spice. No personality. It tasted like the chef had just completed community service at a nursing home and was legally prohibited from possessing a salt shaker. My piece of chicken was juicy and cooked properly. Unfortunately, my wife's chicken breast was noticeably dry, which didn't help matters. Then came the fried pickles. No seasoning. Chicken and dumplings. No seasoning. Coleslaw. Tasteless. At one point I started wondering if there had been some sort of building-wide seasoning shortage that nobody had told us about. The frustrating part is that none of the food was poorly cooked. Quite the opposite. The techniques were there. The textures were there. The execution was there. It just felt like someone got everything ready and forgot the final, critical step of making the food taste like something. This is a restaurant with good people, a pleasant atmosphere, and a kitchen that clearly knows how to cook. Now they just need to introduce their food to salt, pepper, and a few of their seasoning friends. Three stars. Because the potential is absolutely there. The flavor just never showed up for work.

After watching 3 tables that ordered after us receive their food, I asked where ours was at and was told it was next. About 4-5 minutes later our food came out. Cold. Like it's been sitting for 20 minutes cold :/ if they left it on accident, they could've taken 5 minutes to remake and BLT and some French toast. Go a few feet further to Split Rail Eats, you won't regret it! Although the food came out cold, I will say the potatoes, BLT, potato salad and tavern toast were good. But they were all cold. I don't enjoy cold eggs or bacon so they were just a waste of money :/ Paying $50 for a BLT, Tavern Toast adding Eggs, getting our own drinks AND tipping 15% for them to take 35 minutes to deliver our food to us cold IMHO, isn't the characteristics of restaurant I'd promote to others. Had they stated they left it in the window too long and needed to make it fresh and we'd have to wait another 5-10, I'd be leaving a different review. We don't complain, that's why we didn't say anything at the time. We get things get busy and forgotten. Our food was definitely served cold so it was either intentionally left or forgotten. Either way, I don't ask for refunds for this reason. I share my experiences and let others decide how to vote with their wallets and choices. I'm not rude and demand to be refunded. I just don't function like that. Also no one ever asked if our food was good or we would've said something God Bless.
